There aren't very manly VN protagonists are there? It seems like most VN leads are just kids who got caught up in some mess and then have a choice between girls to screw.

Seriously, Fuminori's only role in the story is to stay sane and narrate. He didn't make any choices except in the end, and those choices he DID make didn't matter very much since it's implied that humanity evolve in both endings. Or at least that's what I got out of it.
