newfriend thoughts, skip if you don't want to read my ignorant musings:

i'm pretty new to this idol stuff, but i'm just wondering how these groups seem to have a never ending supply of girls willing to join. it seems like deep down most of these women hate being an idol and they hate the middle aged men who make up their fanbase even more.

i guess putting on a completely fake pure girl act day in and day out breeds resentment in them. their lives are controlled very strictly, and not only that but these idols don't even make much money. Once they reach their mid 20s they're discarded unless they become a mega star like mirei kiritani or something. it's crazy to me that there are so many parents willing to let their girls get into the shady as fuck idol industry.

For many of them idoling is a stepping stone to greater things and they just need to suffer a bit before it pays off. A foot in the door of the industry. Of course most of them end up going nowhere, have to put up with crazed wota (not all of them are crazed, a good amount of them are fully self aware) and pillow trades Yuiyui abound.
