The custom AI also has no idea how to walk around obstacles.

It would probably break the game though. Pets know where all the enemies are, they just failed a perception check and can not engage them.

You should make the new action one of the first, if not the first thing, on the list. Learning progresses every time the AI checks the statement. During the learning phase, there is a % chance of that action actually being used, once it's fully learned you can use it normally.

Also, there's a minimum casting skill requirement for learning spells.

As for using spells randomly, not really, but what you can do is make them use spells intelligently, i.e. if target is element scarred and in range -> ice ball, if target is nightmared and in range -> chaos eye, if self has less than 100% hp and target is in range -> nether arrow or nether wave. Weapons are superior to magic in terms of single target damage, but casters still have some advantages - spells never miss, you can hit up to 10+ targets with AOE, and even highly overleveled panic trashmobs can be crippled with abnormal statuses.

I like to put in a failsafe statement last that will almost always fire, like

Plays for many hours with a party of three pets and never had a freeze. Once you've worked out the kinks, a custom AI with optimized actions is so good you can never go back to standard AI. Just having an evolved little girl cheer at the start of every fight makes such a big difference.

so im thinking of equip updates for 2 of my living weapons, and i kinda wondered what do you guys think is the best bow type and xbow type? i think long bow is better han the other 2 because the negative hit chance can be a chore, but how do i know if my black cat can handle a bow with negative hit? for xbow, im also kinda wonderingg between normal xbow, reapeting bow and balista. weight is not an issue as the pet im giving my living xbow to is good with heavy armor and don't mind training weight lifing but maybe the other xbow types bring more merit?

Adamantium shortbow is +15 accuracy, 3d15+11 damage. Adamantium longbow is +7 accuracy, 2d21+29 damage. Adamantium skullbow is -22 accuracy, 1d51+37 damage.
Skullbow has the best DPS. No idea whether the accuracy penalty has a noticable effect or not.
I've never looked into crossbows. I'll get back to you.

Adamantium crossbow is +7 accuracy, 1d66+22 damage. Adamantium repeating bow is +3 accuracy, 7d12+14 damage. Adamantium ballista is -7 accuracy, 1d84+18 damage.
A ballista technically does more damage on average than a repeating bow, but the difference is fairly negligible, and a repeating bow's damage has less variation. There's also the fact that it weighs about 1/6 as much, of course.

I forgot. Also, I honestly don't have a good grasp of how much of an effect piercing typically has on combat. (Aside from 100% pierce's guaranteed *vorpal* which, if memory serves, makes lightsabres do more damage on average than claymores according to Kai.)
If pierce is crucial, then a ballista's 40% would make it much better than a repeating bow with only 5%.

I've dabbled a bit in it while I was testing things from the chinese modpack in the mod pastebin. To do so you'll have to track down the spell animation in the graphics folder. For instance anime5.bmp is the animation for the ball spells such as magic storm, ice ball, fireball, etc. Open up the picture of the animation you want in your editing software of choice like Gimp and change what you want. It should be noted that most of the animations are death animations tied to a specific element of spell or are special action related.

I dabbled in changing my ball spell animation by giving my character a magic crest that expands out from him and changing up the looks of the cast animation. I found that you're limited in your color choice for ball spells at least unless you want it to look odd. Want to go with yellow or white because something in the code will alter the colors for when you cast fireball, thunder vortex, and other elemental spells. Oddly iceball is the same color as magic storm. At any rate, after I changed anime5 I also dabbled in changing some of the death animations. Like the fire death animation. So I tweaked anime20.

whats your equipment weight? if your total equip weight is above 15s than you are considered madium/ heavy armored and train con simply by moving around. equiping a shield also helps. don't bother etting a weapon, it hardly trains if you aren't using one.

I believe you can find most of his stuff on Tieba, Chinese Anon and Beautify packs (check OP's modding pastebin for links).
His UI appears to be "hand-crafted" (edited the interface.bmp with an image editor to edit each element individually, using various custom UI images from these packs), and possibly the rest of his custom stuff too. Get ready for some multi-layer action on gimp/paint.net/etc.

Yes. It appears that anything that uses anime5 will use it. Pets and monsters alike. It was pretty cool to see magic crests go off when I fought some Elea wizards. Really felt like a mage duel. It's a bit odd seeing it go off for say when a kamikaze yeek explodes. It's really cool how much you can edit the look of things but it could be even better if we could do the assigning of the anime files ourselves. So we can give unique animations to certain actions and characters.

I went back to the default ball animations but I kept the conflagration death animation because I thought it looked pretty cool and it goes well with what my meteor now looks like. I took my magic crest picture and applied it to my buff animations.

I'm mainly using stuff I've found in the chinese modpack which should be in the mod pastebin linked in OP. There's a lot of crossover between beautify and the other sprite/graphic overhaul compilation packs since all of them draw from similar sources. I just use the chinese one because it's the biggest that I know of. I'm still sorting through it. Aside from that, I'm using pictures/sprites I find doing google search and editing them for use in the game. My monster and item tilesheets draw on other spritesheets I've seen. Like others I cherry pick what I like and stitch them into my own.

Makes sense. The only issue is leveling instrument skill takes a very long time and it's deadly at the early levels. Might I suggest capturing a putit, or a rat and putting it into a ranch. Don't make the design too complicated since you're only working with 96x96 sprites in 5 frames. There's plenty of cool looking crests if you do a google image search if you need inspiration. You could even use some of them but be aware that the game does not handle glow or complicated color gradients well so you may need to edit them. Simple designs that use few colors will probably work best for a crest.

Auras can work well for buff animations. There's a good one in the chinese modpack that I've been using after I changed its color. Might want to check that out. So far I'm debating whether to use this aura of sorts or the crest I made.

As for my workshop it kind of ended up a magical lab of sorts. After I expanded my character's room I made a room to the side for crafting. It has work tables for all the crafting tools and a cauldron in the middle. I took the pot for fusion and replaced its sprite by using Garok's services. Decided to create a crafting room so I wouldn't carry around tools anymore. Been trying to find ways to reduce my inventory so I have more room to loot stuff. My goal, even though I'm playing loss mode, is to try to get as close to playing with abnormal mode's inventory restrictions. If I can do that then I could say I've solved some of my hoarding problems.

Yes about 3 or 4 days for job board stuff to refresh completely. No visual timer for that though but you'll notice as the days pass quests added to the board. Also if you haven't exhausted your free casino chips you're given when you use the casino table, you can play blackjack and try to win a potion of cure corruption. You will need to win 4-5 times off one chip though. You can also buy potions of cure corruption from Miral for 10 small medals if you have medals to burn or it's an emergency.

I decided to write another custom tone file for Elona+, this time around the ever popular Black Angel

This tone text is made for the latest version of Elona+ (v1.73)

As before, I try to keep a vanilla interpretation of the NPCs in mind. Thankfully compared to the previous ones I wrote, Black Angel does have a few default lines and a general fan consensus on her personality. I have also since discovered that those cards ingame have lore descriptions on them for every NPC in this game, they're just in JPN version only. Now i have more to work with.

Card description says she's an egotistic sadist with a hint of eroticism in her, similar to her Goddess Lulwy, which is pretty much how i always seen it.
In my headcanon I also think she's sort of a secret masochist as well as she's still a servant to said sadist Goddess and may have suffered/witnessed (and enjoyed) abuse.
...And also daydreams bout lewd stuff, like her OTP Mani X Lulwy.

- I'm no writer, so suggestions, improvements and grammar corrections would be appreciated

- Still needs some playtesting to know if the text flows well

I feel i had a tougher time with this. For example, to be honest, I feel like I if I didn't say this was a Black Angel tone file, you could substitute it for Lulwy or something. Might be just a result of overlap between similar characteristics, which is why I tried implementing a bit of headcanon.

Also, I have updated the previous tone files I wrote (Little Girl, Young Lady, Golden Knight) for v1.73 with the inclusion of new text for when allies use shift cores to transform! They're sorta simple for now until I think of something more clever, then I'll update them more later.
They're available in mod pastebin.

Should be the death messages reported in the log. The entry for active death messages are usually the messages that show up in your log when your character kills something. They're the most used. The passive death messages for me usually show up when things die that are on the map but my character is not present to see. Such as when a non pet NPC kills a monster elsewhere on the map that I'm not at or when I use meteor and it kills something that exists on the map but my character doesn't see.

It's fixed. Sleep sharing should work if you take the initiative and use squeeze or allow them to take the initiative assuming they have a sleep sheep in their inventory. They seem to also have fixed the customized g option for sleep sharing. In the past it sometimes wouldn't use the option you put in the talk file.

If you're upgrading from 1.72 then nothing of note really changed with end game. The major things added in 1.73 imo is making tobacco related items functional and the addition of Ehekatl's painting, Itzpalt's stone bust, and Yacatect's kitty bank.

I haven't experimented with any of the tobacco related items myself. From what I hear though they made the stuff addictive and you get penalties if you don't feed your addiction. The addiction and penalty is really bad so you're kinda forced to have a constant stream of tobacco coming in from perhaps farms. Seriously this might be an underhanded tactic of Kumiromi to get more converts. What a devious plan. Getting the mass addicted and having to go through him to get seeds and stamina regeneration to keep up with tobacco farms.

Ehekatl's painting makes me smile. Useful for those who keep a maid around. Itzpalt's stone bust seems to be a good light source for the house. Yacatect's kitty bank is good for holding a ton of gold.

crafting has been overhauled. if you really want a lightsaber you need to
1. get a longsword. any would do, but katana are prefred.
2. get a sharp materium. you can get one from carpentry.
3. get an EV item. yup.
4. use pot of fusion sharp equip update on the sword. t goes as follows: longsword->claymore->katana->lightsaber, so with a katana you only need to expend one EV item.

That's your problem, she hasn't learned to use shadow step yet. If you want to train her quickly go to an easy dungeon alone with your pet and keep waiting with S while she tries to use the move. Eventually she'll successfully execute it with more and more frequency until she learns it completely.

In a future update I would love it if a traveling feat was introduced for shop pets with high experience. It's a hassle to travel all the way back to North Tyris when I want put items in my shop and everything sells out so quickly before I even have a chance to get more.

You can easily find poison bottles in the puppy cave. You shouldn't let your pet drink from wells if you can't deal with aliens yet. Also you could park the pet and get it back later, and go to a different town if one gets alien-infested. If you started over three times, that's a waste. Should have kept going.

Maybe try setting a distance limit for Insult? It shouldn't affect anything, but C-AI can be weird sometimes. I also avoid using <= and >=, which is probably pure superstition on my part.
