How can I identify who wears a cursed piece of gear in Lumiest? I tried randomly pickpocketing everyone I see, I also asked the informer which adventurer is in town now.
The NPC must be pretty high level because I keep finding corpses and dropped stuff all over the city therefore the guards can't handle the summoned critters.
I also fought two snails in the bar last night. One was a green guy and the other looked quite purple. I didn't ask their names but they were quite tough... or I was just drunk... or both

If you want to get stronger than your pet despite their rapid growth, and you can, take some tips from the high level players that posted about it before. You can level your skills so fast it's not even funny. I'm not exactly high leveled, but just beating on monsters that heal themselves and letting ones that attack multiple times hit me my skills skyrocketed. For casting I cast teleport with a prevent TP item for like a minute and gained many levels. Spend your bonus points on combat skills while keeping the potential up between spendings too. We get so many of them, but I bet most players use them on misc instead of combat skills (or not at all).

All storage items are like that (potion, bread, book/scroll), but for some reason cooler boxes are an exception.
You can store up to 4 stacks of food items inside of them, and after getting the first one from puppy quest, the only way to get more of it is from the little girl quest, and you want should to use this quest for kumiromi statues/gems or hero cheese.
There is also the 4-Dimensional Mirror/Spell, you can store tons of items inside of it but each item interaction (store or remove) will consume 10 stamina.

That happens with everyone, really. I'm ashamed of all my tone files, especially the "talking is hard" one (radioactive levels of "badly-written lovey-dovey shit" in there). But both writing and reading them is kinda like a guilty pleasure for me, so I can survive just fine.
But the trick is to just keep writing, reading "examples" also helps (like lines of your favorite tomboys, or the tone files on OP's modding pastebin). At some point your stuff will reach the "yeah, I can read this without wanting to throw myself under a bus" tier and you will be enjoying it normally.

How do I find NPCs in a town? Specifically, quest givers after quests have ended to get my reward.

I try running around speaking to everyone but no luck.
Asking to meet the NPC before the quest doesn't help much, since the automatic dialogue window often blocks them from view.

After the quest ends and you get teleported back to the city, you will always spawn near the NPC.
Quest givers usually have an icon on top of their heads (a little dialog box with a little paper on it).
Your journal will show the name and often type/profession of the NPC you are looking for (like "client: [name] the magic vendor"), use look/target commands to check NPC names without talking to them ('l' for auto-lock, '*' for free lock).
Some NPCs are "hidden" in easy-to-miss spots, like Derphy's small forest on the top left of the map, outside the city's walls.

All you can do is to walk around and find the NPC which has the Quest bubble above their head. If it's a store NPC or any other static NPC it will be in a set location. If it's a random guard or villager they spawn randomly when you first enter the town, but then their location is fixed and they'll be starting at the same location every time you zone in that map.

They can also die from causes like random murder/werewolf events, or cursed equipment that summons monsters.

Elona code were retrieved from decompiller, and apparently wasn't very unorganized even prior to that.
So, if you not scared of perspective to reverse engineer statements like cdata(some_number1, cc) = some_number2, without any clues what it is... then it won't be hard. Especially if you're fine with modifiing of existed spell.
But to add new spell from scratch you'll need to check a lot of different pieces of such obfuscated code. Add spell effect itself, add spellbook, allow traders to sell that book, and so on. And all that stuff is made of magic constants and unreadable at first glance.

Elona's MP3 player is weird at times. Probably one or two music files are causing issues, unfortunately you have to test them one by one to figure this out.
You could try to convert files to .ogg (to be honest I'm not sure if Elona supports this by default, but I heard that ElonaExtender works with ogg files), or remove all ID3 tags with Foobar, since it solved some music issues for another anon (drag and drop all mp3s into foobar, select them all, right click -> tagging -> MP3 tag types -> clear all the tags -> update files)

Is it only possible to obtain the passive artifacts (glasses of yacatect, scissors of kumiromi...) by killing the associated NPC? You have to astral pen them to get their weapons because they don't drop them, but can you also get their special item this way?

I guess it's the only way. Just like figurines and cards, these passive artifacts only spawns on NPC's death, so you can't use astral pen or pickpocket since these methods rely on the NPC's current inventory (it's a precious item so you can't steal it anyway).
I don't know how performing's item generation works, but I tried to do it a few times near these NPCs and I got nothing from them, so either I need a really high skill level (or luck) or it is really impossible to get it without some good'n'old murder.

Fun fact: NUCLEAR DEAD LIONs are not precious, so if you are generating a new character and doing inheritance shenanigans, claiming one of those from your heirloom trunk are the best way to kill those two elves squatting in your cave and get their artifact weapons. Never leave your house without a good stock of healing potions and teleport scrolls (Escape scrolls are very useful for running away because they are a lot faster than Return scrolls/spell). It's very easy to lose all your MP and SP midcombat or in ambushes, especially if you aren't paying attention to them, but items are always available for use.

does anyone else spends more time organizing loot than aaquiring it? my routine when i return to base are
1. go to farm pick stuff up and cook them
2. go home visit id wizard and have him id all my stuff
3. sell misc stuff i don't need to vendor in my house
4. put scrolls and potions i might need later (like bottles of water or scrolls of change material) in the appropriate furniture
5. go to storage house and put any equipment that seem nice in the pile
6. drop the rest of the equipment in the shop

thats a lot to do, and it doesnt inclue stuff like guests, eatin, fusions, checking vendors for stuff like gifts or kits, reading books (outside, yes, but its still part of organizing the loot) and going to nearest town to see if i can use what i ave for stuff like i want it or cocktail party. it seem half the game im organizing loot and the other halff is my pets killing stuff.

Forbidden meat is bugged for NPCs, you have to change your pet's gender with Elosnack. It's not that hard, just memorize some details about your pet (name won't do, check height, weight, current gender, etc) and check the NPC list on Elosnack until you find a sheet with your pet's data. Change the gender and save the edit.
Either that or go back to praying and savescumming your way to victory.

Generally speaking they're not hostile unless you do something to make them attack you. They tend to be found in groups in dungeons and usually are just hanging out. That is, unless some monster comes and tries to attack them which then they become hostile to the monster. I'm guessing these guys are supposed to make it feel like you're not the only one doing dungeons in the world.

I met a group of mercenaries deep in the void and had an amusing time with them. Mainly as soon as I walked down the stairs I saw trickles of blood that eventually became puddles and then pools when I finally met the group. They were engaged in fighting monsters and a group of Elea.

You can try the boring method: Copy your save and use it on a fresh Elona+ 1.72 install (download a new one just to make sure). Magic, melee, and traditional range attacks such as archery or firearms are all viable solo. I would say magic is probably the easiest though since it can deal with a lot of enemies all at once easier than the other methods. That is, if the wizard did the right thing and transitioned to AOE spells instead of sticking to magic dart the whole time. Melee and range can put out a lot of burst damage against a single enemy with some special actions or special ammo helping against mobs. So all three I'm sure can be played fine without much worry solo.

If you want a challenge you could look into a throwing build or some sort of rod build. While I'm sure you can be successful with those builds they're somewhat lagging behind in damage compared to your traditional magic, melee, and range builds.

Town board quests, dungeons, and void bosses are my main sources of plat. 10 is the cap for platinum costs and 10 plat raises potential by 100. So 30-40 plat usually can get you to 400 potential.

While I'm seeing here that some people are trying to maintain every skill potential at some number I'm not one of them. I only spend plat on 3-5 skills and regularly maintain them at around 400 potential. I've done this since the beginning of the game.

Outside of those 3-5 skills, I ignore the rest and don't spend anything on them leaving sleep and other passive methods to restore them. The 3-5 skills I do maintain aren't always the same skills throughout the game. I'll swap skills in and out of my rotation based on need. Like for instance gardening and the craft skills I used to spend plat on but once they get to a certain level I stopped spending plat on them. Reason being is that at a certain point for both of those skills you're not necessarily going to get better items and have better success at what you're trying to do with higher skill. So once I got those skills high enough I swapped those skills out and started maintaining other skills in its place. These days I'm only really maintaining long sword and two hand with plat.

By only maintaining a handful of skills instead of every single skill in the game I've had a lot of success in keeping up with potential demands. Feel like my plat goes far enough and now I have excess and spend all the rest on magic classes.

I've come to the conclusion imperative programming is often better in game design than OO. As said, potential pots are very common in mid-late game. You can always keep your attribute potentials at 400% if you want to.

Skill potentials are a bit harder, but there're scrolls of growth for them.

If you invest PC only in several key skills as recommended above and read a blessed scroll of growth once in a while for the rest of skills, you should be k. These scrolls may be bought for 3.5 million GP in Larna and Arcelc once you've invested enough in souvenir vendors. Expensive they are, but r4eading 1 or 2 between rounds of questing and dungeoneering should be enough to maintain most less important skill potentials. they also work wonders with Travelling: scrolls give potentials to all skills, travelling trains all skills and you eventually end up with hundreds of levels of skills you've never spent a single PC or BP on.

I can easily maintain my skills at 250%+ potential range. I could go higher than that with scrolls of growth, but usually some skills reach
400% and I don't really want to waste potentials.

Try to have at least normal resist in every element, as well as decent magic resist.
Also try to get status effect resistances on your core items. Those are rather easy to obtain in act 3 with artifact fusion, but before that you usually rely on item's initial bonuses.

I can't really say much with only this error.
But it looks like something bad happened with someone's inventory. You can try to delete all inv_*.s2 and shop*.s2 files. That might help.
And if it will... Well, you can restore them, and remove one by one untill you locate exact file which causes it.

I've been enjoying it so far. Specifically I've been enjoying the increased chance of getting rods of wishing during September to November. I managed to pull 22 rods of wishing in that span of time with like 3 magic seed farms. Got like 6 before November ended.

I think an anon in a thread prior was worried that they would have to replant their magic seeds in September to get rods of wishing. That luckily isn't the case. You can plant your magic seeds whenever you want and all that matters is when you harvest them. Depending on the months you harvest determines what kind of rods you'll get from them. So you can plant your seeds well before September and when you go to harvest them during September to November it's possible to get rods of wishing.

Aside from the increased rod of wishing drop rate, it's pretty much business as usual for me in selling my cooked crops. From a rp perspective I guess my restaurant really enjoys cooking things in season meaning the menu changes as the months change.

Time stop is up there in one of the rarest things to find on a weapon. Aside from static artifacts, I found most of mine from crafting weapons or finding them in my blacksmith shop safe from trade ins. I haven't had much luck in getting a time stop weapon with a huge magnitude of beyond +400 for instance.

I use grid lines so all I have to do is line the 48x48 or 48x96 boxes up. Even though I'm using grids to help me line up stuff with my item sheet this also works for the character sheet as well. Same dimensions too. Don't know about MS Paint but Photoshop and Gimp allows you to customize the dimensions of your grid lines.

There is no easy way but there certainly exists the best way. For attribute potentials, it's blessed potions of potential. Each blessed potion restores potential to all attributes except speed by 100%. Since max potential is 400% consuming 4 of them should cap you out. For skills it's going to be platinum for a very long time. 10 Platinum is the cap training cost to restore skill potential. Every 10 plat also restores 100% potential to the skill you choose from the trainer. Once you're making millions of gold you can look into blessed growth scrolls but that's going to be a far off thing.

Best ways to get potions of potential early on is through invested magic vendors and best way to get plat is through town board quests and killing dungeon bosses. Shop level 100+ magic vendors start carrying potions of potential consistently but they first start appearing around shop level 70-80. Later on, if you have sufficient alchemy and materials, you can craft your own potions of potential. So what you need to do is earn gold to invest and do those job board quests/dungeons to get plat.

There's other ways to restore attribute potentials such as breakfast and guild trainers but these are bandages to the above mentioned. You should be working on the above as a permanent solution while using breakfast and guild trainers to slow down the potential crash everyone eventually experiences. The faster you can rebound from the crash though the better off you'll be. On a side note, breakfast potential recovery is tied to how well your pets can cook.

Drinking 4 blessed potions of potential pretty easy once supplies for them opens up. As a person that's actually done the summon spirit trick and now has to use fascination dance to get his tickets I'll say that it's much easier and faster to bring up charisma to levels needed to clear the party time quests than to raise summon spirit to lv 1000+.

Honestly getting fascination dance to do it well is quick but the max I get for doing that is 2,500ish tickets. So instead of spending all this time grinding out summon spirit I feel like I'm spending that time doing multiple party time quests instead. So it's like I exchanged one form of grind for another. It's still very feasible to afford hero cheese and magic fruit doing this however as I've done it for my pets. Regardless, I think it's pretty moot to talk about the spirit trick going forward considering it doesn't exist anymore.

Unfortunately I can't say what the exact amount is because my character existed at a time when the trick worked, got nerfed, and then I had to fall back on fascination dance. The thing though is by that time my charisma was already high along with my other attributes. I can't imagine the number is high though. Might as well try at say 200. As long as you can get the star over their heads it's enough. What really will determine how many tickets you get though is the number of VIP NPCs that show up and who. I've gotten around 2000 tickets from x22 to x155 so I'm not sure party time difficulty matters. At any rate, important NPCs again is what's important and I have a hunch that you need to be far enough in the story for some of these NPCs to show up or you need enough fame.

So Garok allows you to take an item and customize it. You can change its appearance and alter description for rp/fluff purposes. This is a good way to make a single instance of an item with an altered appearance instead of going through the item sheet and changing all instances of how an item looks. I actually did that here >>17777225 with my gold piles. I wanted to change the look of some of the gold bars I had but not all of them into looking like gold piles for decoration purposes.

So for this test I took a second Jure pillow I bought off of Manytia and made it into a Lulwy pillow using Garok's services. Costs one bronze coin. I gave it a sprite and fluff text. Since the base is actually a Jure pillow the Lulwy pillow does indeed function as a bed. So this is kinda like having a body pillow of another goddess.
