Not as good news as it can be, as they aren't playing near me, yet. I was actually really hoping they would NOT be playing at conventions, though. The people that go to those don't deserve to see H&A. It would have been much better if they just played some clubs or something. The only good news about them playing at a con is that Otakon is one of the biggest in the US, so it's a good possibility they will play there too, and that is really close to me.

Watching the Wonderful Hearts disc of the 2008 Winter live thing I have come to the conclusion that I fucking hate the sound on nearly all of the H!P DVDs. The production is so fucking flat, it's terrible. And I'm listening to this stuff with Beyer-Dynamic DT-770 Pro headphones, so it's not my stuff that's shit.

Anyone agree with this or am I alone?

I haven't really watched any other live DVDs other than H!P before so I have nothing to compare it with. Actually, I did watch Thank You My Teens, YUI's first Live DVD but that was too long ago to remember if it was better or anything. I have never had a problem with it, but then again I am not so much of a pansy that I listen to it on headphones and I have really nice speakers and an expensive woofer.

I'm talking the production of stuff in general, the comparison is not limited to just other live DVDs. I have a nice system too (and even nicer headphones) thing is I switch to phones at night because I'm one of those dudes that likes music loooooud and blasting this shit at night would get me shot / have to go live in the fucking toolshed.
Anyway, the fact that I'm a hardcore/metal fan and not really used to the kind of bland and flat production that this kind of popmusic offers might also have something to do with this.

I cranked MM's performance of Mikan then switched over to some track off of Seizures in Barren Praise by Trap Them and it's like day and night with the quality of the stuff.
Then AGAIN, D-beat grindcore ≠ H!P
Ehh...fuck it.

Haha, I like said: fuck it. I guess it's screwed because I'm expecting and hoping for that same thick, heavy production and sense of urgency you hear on various metal/hardcore albums and whatnot when it comes to H!P stuff, not really understanding that the genres (and what they strive to "convey" with the sound) are oceans apart both figuratively and literally.
Bottom line: you're not gonna find the fantastic characteristics of the other music I listen to in this stuff.

While JunJun can indeed be cute as fuuuuuuuuck her qulity as an Idol is around 0.
Singing, dancing, personality etc. forget about it. Atleast to me she doesn't stick out in those fields.

Have you heard Shiroi Chou no Samba? Her voice is brilliant, better than LinLin's at least, in my opinion. Also, her personality is one of the best in Morning Musume, not even exaggerating here, she is hilarious and knows what she is doing. If you don't believe me watch the Bukken Hakken Treasure Battle when they were on Pu-Sama, she makes that episode. I won't argue about the dancing, though, she is not the best at all and could definitely use some improvement.

I like both Junjun and Linlin, so no slight against them, but if you're going by overall technique, richness in tone, and execution, Linlin is much better. Her vibrato is not only much more developed than Junjun's but she has so much more depth and strength and POWER in her voice.

There's a video that shows this quite well but I can't find it... It's Junjun and Linlin having vocal lessons, and Linlin's practice bits totally blew me away. She could hold notes for a long-ass time and her vibrato was really nice.

I'm only going by technique and not personal preference, so if you were just saying you like Junjun's better that's fair enough, but there's no way that, factually, Junjun's voice is more developed than Lin's.

No, it was a video from a few months ago, it might have been on Taiwan TV. The other musume girls were there in the beginning doing some exercises, then it cut to a solo practice session with Junjun and the vocal coach doing some voice work and then singing Ambitious with the piano, and then after a little bit it cut to Linlin with the same coach doing some insane vocal exercises and then singing Ai Araba It's All Right. LinLin? Her voice is so easily pointed out it's insane. JunJun sort of blends in to a song but LinLin has an unmistakable voice. The only voice that gives me problems with distinguishing sometimes is Mittsi, but she has so few lines that I don't even really need to worry about it.

But Mittsi's is very easy to recognize, her voice sounds to me like an adult woman, somehow deep. The current lineup has very distinguishable voices, maybe when everybody sings I cant spot if JunJun is singing, havent heard her that much.
Also LinLin is way much better singer than JunJun, WAY MUCH...though JunJun is definitively cuter
