177035 No.177035 [Reply] [Original]

"The Japanese had, in fact, already sued for peace. The atomic bomb played no decisive part, from a purely military point of view, in the defeat of Japan." Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.[39]
"The use of [the atomic bombs] at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender." Admiral William D. Leahy, Chief of Staff to President Truman.[39]

USA murderers.

hey guise, can I surrender to my own conditions now? like, you won't station troops in Japan ? And I don't have to pay reparations, that would kinda suck.

>> No.177121

>>177092
this is correct, the US demanded unconditional surrender, the surrender offered was very conditional. no dice.

>> No.177319

I like how the U.S. was already deliberating on whether they should drop the bombs as soon as they are assembled or store them up for a super cluster-fuck effect.

>> No.177438

And here I thought the war cabinet was still in a deadlock after the first bomb and it was the second plus Hirohito's vote that made Japan sue for peace.

>> No.177915

Japan had a choice between being invaded and destroyed by the Soviet Union or being rebuilt by the United States. The Soviets were scared out of invading Japan by the use of atomic weaponry, and thus America was allowed to transform Japan into the technological powerhouse it is today rather than a wasteland populated to this day by Russians and rotting Japanese corpses.

Asking for nothing less than unconditional surrender at the start of the war makes sense. When you have an all-but-beaten opponent suing for peace, insisting on it just makes you a bully.

>> No.177942

>>177924
Fuck you. Anything less than an unconditional surrender would've entailed maintaining the military.

You got that right.

Your all idiots for pretending like any of this matters. The blame game is for kids.

>> No.178264

Only unconditional surrender was acceptable to the Allies. Japan wanted conditions. Get over it.

Shit off a wiki us meaningless. It wouldn't be an acceptable source for any college level work. You can't make history after the fact by ignoring them.

>> No.178288

>>177924

Have you read the conditions? It's not exactly horrible. The US wasn't retarded like France was at the end of WWI. The US basically said "You can't have an army because we've seen what you do with it, and you can't keep all the shit you took over just now. In return, we'll help you rebuild. Sound cool?"

And Japan responded with "NIPPON NEVER LOSES."

So the US went "Fuck 'em, crazy bastards. We tried."

LOL!

I'm sure glad I live in Europe, where there is real freedom (and culture, and history, and good food etc..)

I'm proud to be European.

I laugh at America.
