It really pissed me off how Sasa was so unpopular but got tons of unique sexual positions in her H scenes, meanwhile Ushio was by far the most popular girl and yet her H scenes have fucked up PoVs and re-use the same positions repeatedly. Seriously, what were they thinking not giving Ushio a tominagi/mating press or cowgirl scene - imo these are some of the best positions for a loli type chara but nooo, better have multiple doggystyle scenes with fucked up angles! (see pic, that scene w/Sasa was made for a loli like Ushio!)

Sorry, still butthurt over how Ushio got shafted in Mashimaro. And since Marmalade never makes fandiscs, well, that's the rub.

Gameplay wise a straight improvement over Sky and worth it for that alone, though the story isn't as engaging and it goes to show how the writer is kind of a one trick pony, using expy character archetypes that fill roughly the same roles as in earlier games and like Sky the routes do get somewhat repetitive when the subsequent ones roughly go through the same events and revelations of previous routes, though luckily to lesser extent due to being shorter in general. The story's still entertaining enough though if not particularly remarkable.

How much eroge do you guys read on average per moth/week/year? I'm quite perplexed with the amount some people manage to read, considering how lengthy these can get. Not counting the short less than 10h ones,I finish mostly 1 eroge per month max 2 and that's only on rare occasions like if I'm on vacation or something. I don't even consider myself a slow reader and have been reading in Japanese for a while.

Since the start of the year I've read about 25~. There's some short ones in there, but also a couple 2mb+ and 3mb+ games. I don't read a lot and am definitely not quick, but I am consistent in reading every single day. Today I've only read a meager 40 minutes for example, though I blame that on being in a boring arc. When I come close to reaching the end my sessions increase to 4+ hours.

Is there a tag on erogamescape for not having many H scenes? I don't like skipping H scenes and I also want more non-H content in routes.

I'd prefer no more than 1-2 (*maybe* 3) H scenes per decent length route, but there's no tag for that on erogamescape as far as I'm aware; just tags/sections about whether or not the H was good, what was in it, and if H belonged in the game.

領地貴族 has to be the worst SofthouseChara game I've EVER played. It is nothing but a kusoge version of 悪魔娘の看板料理 - the art sucks, the gameplay blows, and the story makes zero fucking sense. As for H scenes, there's not very many actually. You can tell this title was filler and it shows with the lack of very many H scenes with a low CG count.

I don't go into SofthouseChara games expecting much, but this was just painful. I really hope they are working on something decent to make up for this terrible piece of shit.

That's a negative for me. A ton of H-scenes crammed in a short space ruins a route. I like viewing H-scenes as emotional climaxes that top off story beats, so seeing them being thrown in back to back ruins the flow of the story.

I am slowly trudging Snow. All the heroines seem retarded except a couple and it's really putting me off of reading more. Especially the main heroine makes a stupid fucking えうぅ～ noise she makes every time she speaks and it makes me want to shoot myself in the face. The main heroine is more like a dumb pet MC has to look after rather than a legitimate love interest. It's weird. Other than that the game is extremely comfy. The setting and music is nice, and the presentation/movement of sprites is very well done.

I like pic related the most, she pretends to be ditzy but is actually a demon in Christmas cake form.

Honestly doubt this is useful for anybody anymore, but it looks like you can you use the savefiles from Acta est Fabula for amentes. It keeps all of the CG and music unlocked, and none of the sidestories. Most importantly, it keeps track of lines read.

/jp/, I'm starting YU-NO (the original, not the remake) and while I do have a walkthrough I'd like to at least attempt to navigate through it myself.
The game has a particular time jump system, with the orbs and stuff, so I'd like to ask: Can you "miss" stuff permanently (sans starting a new save file obviously) by triggering some flag or spending orbs in some particular way, or can I play at my leasure and latch onto the walkthrough if I get bored/lost at some point?

At the end of each route you get sent back to the beginning so if you miss anything you have another shot at it. Note that this can be very tedious. For example, if you miss the orb at the end of Kaori's route you would have to go through Ayumi's route again to get the key card just so you can enter Kaori's route again, so it can be pretty time consuming if you make a mistake. But honestly, I don't think playing YU-NO without a walkthrough is that bad. I've not yet read the main story (just past Marika), but so far literally everything could be summarized as half-assed halfway. Not necessarily all garbage, but it's definitely a problem.
So far I believe Suzu and that side-char should've just not existed at all, while the blonde should've been a side-character with an actual good boyfriend. She's fine for that, but as a main she lacks meaning for the main plot for sure. As a sub it'd be fine if she was simply some emotional help for Marika or whatever and has some soccer relations. Marika is fine, as you can always chain ex girlfriends in some way that it gives her a reason to be there. I doubt it happens, but you know..

Rare stuff can be such a bitch. I wonder if my dl of the "tristia pack" ever finishes. (having the 蒼い空のネオスフィア and 蒼い海のトリスティア games and some specials or whatever in it) Probably not. It's already going for a few months. All ages VNs are pretty hard to get after a while, although one of the games in that pack was on baidu as well.
And at some point I'll probably go on a hunt for the Memories Off History collection on PC, which will be a blast as well.

Done with Golden Hour. Really feels like a lot of wasted potential.

The "not true route" routes are mostly pointless and full of holes.
-Blondie: Why did you have to go through a lot of "the same" twice? If it's in the route, the main-arc doesn't need it. I wasn't a fan of this arc in general either.
-Idol: Why prepare a rival who "warns" about certain things, but the route pretty much doesn't use it at all? The girl is even dissed and considered officially unimportant later on, so I guess this route was added last minute...
-Ex: I really liked her, but there was so much missing, like the development to her new self and some details of how she took the year the protag was in Europe and whatnot. Also 80% of the route is literally "nobody talks with each other".
-Natsumi: She lacks a character, and her route isn't really about her either.

The true route is a little longer and, funny enough, features less ero than the other routes as well. Yep, true heroine has the least hcg of all main heroines, 9 instead of 12 to be exact. It also gives Natsumi more of a character, which is probably too late, unless you want to play her route later for whatever reason. But yeah, this was the most fleshed out, and yet it still wasted time with stuff just to throw it away later on and felt lacking in a couple of ways.
One letdown was the ending. Yuki lacks a character. If it had progressed the other way around, the protag could've become a pro player again and dedicate a goal to her in the epilogue. That way the whole "started to play soccer again" thing would've had some use as well. Or if she had an actual life outside of the protag, and the music part of her would've been a little more fleshed out, one could've used that to show, she does something great with her life and she does well.
There was nothing. So it didn't feel emotional. Honestly, for how great the cast was in some ways, the story makes this whole thing quite forgettable. Though that's in part because the main things have definitely been done better in other VNs.

Finally, the technical side. Zooms in on sprites and shit so much that it looks ugly as fuck. Hope you enjoy all the kiss scenes.
Very limited OST and weirdly used at times. Happy music when Natsuki sold her soul? Really?
Random sprite errors. I had a Yuki hanging in the air behind Natsuki once for a second, clothes random change back and forth and other.. interesting things.
Voice repeat function cuts voice instead of repeating.
Killed my gpu driver once every 2 hours or so. (which recovers automatically, but still.. wtf)

I just finished Urana's end and its been one of the most engaging games ive read so far. I love how well done some of the scenes are in giving you a sense of dread as you read through it. Even the scene early on as you open the first black box and go back as it scrolls through the cast to see Fuuka's eye being gone honestly left a big impression on me. The music and the dialogue completely contrasting how the player feels(at least for me).Very well done. There is a bit too many H scenes for me but some of them were really good like senpai's first one.

Im surprised how well the quality has been in the art department despite being a debut game for NO BRAND. The music is slightly low quality but still gets the mood right.

i also love the impending dread as you get closer to the character ends, knowing something is going to happen that will leave you scratching your head but still eager to keep reading on. I hope they do a good job in explaining everything that happens.

Normally I get jumpscared in some way, there however I just laughed. The game is just no horror game, and the 2 attempts or so of it to scare you are pretty pathetic if you ask me. It even purposely destroys the horror atmosphere it has in a later arc, so having this fake jumpscare moment is actually quite weird. Don't think it wants to be horror.

You know, I'm curious about something. I've noticed lately that certain seiyuu tend to work together quite a bit - do they just happen to audition for the same eroge or is it just coincidence?

For example, in Golden Hour, 3 girls (Marika, Suzu and Risa) all worked together in the past on the same eroge repeatedly: (Ginharu, Aoi Tori, etc). Vndb has them all listed as working for different talent groups but who even knows how accurate that shit is.

It seems like this is common with certain 'cliques' of seiyuu, like the one I listed above.

I kinda disagree with that, especially after conboku. It's better than what you get in a lot of VNs, but it's still... quite mary sue and can be quite "edgy" as well, although I don't like that term too much. Also way too similar between conboku and AnG.

But... it's not like there's really much good protagonists in VNs... or Anime or Manga anyway. Japan loves their generic guys/girls as protags too much. Regardless of gender even. So while those protags of this writer can be quite cringe at times, at least they make you feel something.
