Take a historical figure, add elegance or moe, put them in a generic shounen plotline, ???, GOTY in Nippon.

Yeah, it's not the best plot in the world but the characters and setting are compelling enough.

You have a problem with that? Elegant moe historical figures are the shit.

>> No.1764861

lol it's kinda true

any female historical figure can be popular in japan if you add elegance or moe

example: loli joan of arc with quiet manners

any male historical figure can be popular in japan if you add bravery and gar

example: george fucking washington

>> No.1764873

>>1764861

Why would you need to *add* bravery and gar to Washington?

>> No.1764875

>>1764790
Of course.

That's why both you guys and Japan ate up Strike Witches.

>> No.1764961

Pretty sure Ikusa Megami is GOTY for 2008, though.

Sharnoth was good, but it doesn't quite match up to Inganock.

What about Sumaga a GOTY 2008? Seems like it's already #7 in Top 50 in Erogamescape.

It certainly blew me away and it blew apart the whole convoluted structure of eroges too.

What about G-Senjou?

Both are still losing to Ikusa Megami (although it wouldn't surprise me if Sumaga beat both titles in terms of sales for 2008 - we can only wait and see).

>> No.1765076

there's that Chopein guy from Eternal Sonata. He's a fucking 19th Century pianist

>> No.1765096

In term of sales for 2008, the winner has already been decided, it's Fortune Arterial, and by far.
In term of GOTY, yeah Ikusa Megami Zero has a good chance, G-senjou no Maou and Sumaga too.

Fortune Arterial? Seriously?

I hope that means they'll make a fandisk feat. more Shiro, Kanade and Erika.

Not really, actually that sort of twist is pretty common.

>>1765096
Well, yeah, eroge sales are front-loaded enough you can basically tell already. Unless Megiddo or Shin Koihime Musuo somehow sells a ridiculous number of titles, it's looking like it'll probably stay pretty close to what it is now, which is:
1. Fortune Arterial
2. To Heart 2: Another Days
3. G-Senjou no Maou
4. Beat Blades Haruka

I was actually somewhat surprised to see Haruka so high up - but I guess an AliceSoft will always do well.

Fortune Arterial broke the 100000 game sold.
That's fucking amazing, only FSN, FHA, TH2Xrated, Air and Clannad managed to do this before.

I finished it on the opening weekend - so maybe 15-20 hours?

depends on how quickly you read moonspeak. I heard people say about 18-20 hours, but that's with near perfect reading. I have to look up a bit of kanji and after 10 or so hours I'm up to chapter 4, with 10 chapters total.

>> No.1765183

>>1765143
Huh, I didn't know that. That's pretty amazing.

To be honest I've never REALLY understood why August is so well-liked - I've always enjoyed their games, but the blatant character design reuse always ticked me off. I suppose it's more that their titles can appeal to pretty much everyone, no matter what you're into.

Yes, it's a common twist that's present in Higurashi, Cross Channel and Re: but I've never encountered it being used in such deliberate way.

Rather than it being an anime story with arbitrary feeling choices tacked on, it feels like the story could be done meaningfully only in the eroge medium.

Basically the standard format is one route that deviates to smaller routes. Everytime you're done with a route you reset and choose differently to get a different a route.

In Sumaga it's made so that there basically is one major route where each story within that route is more or less standalone. Only the main character(and you) remembers what has happened prior to previous stories and he uses that knowledge to gain a different outcome.

>> No.1765217

>>1765208
But the thing is, while I liked the characters enough when I first saw them (in tsuki wa higashi ni hi wa nishi ni), I'm sort of starting to get tired of them. Can't bekkankou learn to draw new things? :/

>> No.1765266

>>1765217
If he`ll draw new things, he`ll be not Bekkankou any more. It is his style.
Also this syle fits for Yoake mae and fortune arterial perfectly.
