Actually now that I think about it I'm even less convinced. Consider:

1. MEIKO and KAITO are a pair
2. No Luka album has been announced
3. No cover has been released yet, but the font on the website, symbol and title are completely different from the other two
4. This one says "10th anniversary" on it while the other two don't, so the set wouldn't match either way

All of that IMO makes it seem more likely that Kaito's and Meiko's are an isolated thing (to match only with each other), and the Kagamine one is something else. All just speculation though, I don't think it rules out the possibility altogether

Hi, /Vocaloid/, I was wondering if you could help me with something that's been bothering me for a few weeks now. A year or two ago, I was listening to these two really great vocaloid records by two separate artists, and, for the life of me, I cannot track them down. I'll try my best to describe them.

So, the first one is called something like "Eutopia" and it's from a glitch artist in the vein of early 2000's glitch (e.g. Safety Scissors, Keith Fullerton's earlier discography, early Sweet Trip ...), but he's a lot harsher. The juxtaposition between harsh noise and glitch was seriously nauseating and erratic and impenetrable, and that's why I loved it so much. I think it's probably the only record I've ever listened to that made me throw up while listening to it. It has to be one of my favorite records of all time, even outside of vocaloid.

The second one belongs to a glitch artist in a similar vein. There's more focus on the vocaloid performance, however. I don't remember the name of a specific record, but he always seemed to incorporate the image of this school girl in a black uniform with a red skirt and an eyepatch. I remember there was that anime where all the highschoolers died because of some curse, and one of the major characters had exactly that character design. Pic related, although it's not the same one. Just another example. One of the records--his best record, in my opinion--had this opening track that was this kind of pathetic (but in a good way), quasi-flemenco romp (for lack of a better word) with some very distinct timbres that mimicked acoustic guitar and hand clapping. It was really quite amazing.

Anyway, if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be similar to pic related where it's all the songs Exit Tunes used in previous compilations. I only like one Kagamine so I'm going to wait for the MikuDB release unless there's some really good pre-order bonuses.

I'm more curious how Luka's 10th anniversary album will end up. She is technically a CV so she should get the same treatment as Miku/Kagamines. But she's had less songs over the years and I'm not sure if ET will go the Meikonic/Kaitonation route since she doesn't have as many hits to fill up a bigger album set similar to Miku's.

I tried listening to it and while it was nice, I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it again. It's not catchy or fun. It's just background noise when your're out and about.

On a different note, based Kurage-P has spoken and summed up my feelings toward Sand Planet: it doesn't talk about the scene after 2013. I feel that Hachi was being over-dramatic over something that happened years ago, and completely discounting the other producers who've continued to make songs such as Orangestar, Nayutalien, n-buna, etc. I'm glad to see Kurage-P argue that and it's a valid point.

I've always been wondering at how the Vocaloid scene sustains itself.

Say you're a company that decides to launch their own singing voice synthesizer, marketing seems to be just paying some well-known producers to make a few quality songs with your vocaloid, then having a nice artist (or 3D modeler if your budget is big enough) make PVs to go along with them, and use these to advertise.

Well, then what? Just sit on your ass and hope people like how your girl looks and sounds enough to purchase the soundbank? And even after all that it seems the popularity is still dependent on producers, but the problem is, most of the fame and attention will be on THEM, not the company behind the vocaloid. So how exactly are you supposed to profit from this? If someone's song is popular enough you sign them on a record or something in return for royalties? That's all I can think of and even then you can clearly see the most benefited side are the producers, not the company. In fact, they are the ones in control, because you're fucked if they decide to use other vocaloids for their songs.
