Like how the French have these elitists who are total language Nazis and don't allow loanwords to be incorporated into the language; and if it's really necessary then it has to get French-ified. For example, people will colloquially call it just "e-mail", but officially it has to be called "courier electronique" (yes I know I'm leaving out the accents)

Also, courrier électronique is a perfect translation, so why not? Courriel does sound retarded though, but it's never used.
