17426193 No.17426193 [Reply] [Original]

Having visited in Japan and fallen in love with Akihabara, how am I supposed to deal with the fact that I will probably never have a chance to move and live IN Japan. Realization of this felt like the biggest dreamcrusher. I will never live there. I will never be able to go to Akiba on the weekends. I will never live that dream.

How am I supposed to cope with a reality this grim?

>Spent 4 years of my life getting a degree in English Ed. also known as class A basket weaving degree by everyone with a real skill set.
Why do people hate English teachers so much? The job is pretty easy, you get a lot of time off, and the benefits package most school districts offer are fairly decent, so why the hate? Working with kids isn't as bad as people make it out it be, it's your co-workers that make life hell and that's the truth of any job to ever exist.

JET isn't something you do for life, it's a 1-2 year semi-vacation you do for fun/to experience Japan as the otaku filth that you are and then you take that experience and oversell it as a leverage point to get hired on full time in an area you want to work in your home country. Working full time in Japan is a bad idea like most people here have already stated, it's better to get a job that allows you to take frequent trips to Japan and then maybe retire there when you're older. Teaching English is a real profession too! Don't be so mean to English teachers /jp/!

This. You'll spend all of your money on worthless shit if you live near Akiba or Tokyo in general. Eventually you'll realize that you can't spend all your money there so you'll be forced to stay away from the area, which basically makes living there with the higher cost of living a complete waste.

Live someplace comfier where it doesn't cost an arm and a leg for a shitty little apartment. You can visit Tokyo for comiket or whatever other event interests you and the novelty won't wear off as quickly if you visit once or twice a year.

Story time:

I went to Japan multiple times before moving there and ended up lasting only 3 weeks. Popped my cherry to a married woman in a love hotel there too. I had everything in place and planned this shit for years. I had 2 really good male friends there who I thought would help me out and I had dates and girls all ready to go.

2 years before I move there I find a Japanese gf. Cute, good english speaker, etc. I visit her, then she comes to meet me in my country. I fuck the married woman the same day I meet her officially in person.

1 year before I get to Japan, my Japanese/Korean gf goes to Korea. She decides "Korea is my home and I want to live there now", after never having been there previously. She wants to end it as waiting for me for 1 year is just too tough, but I convince her to hold on.

9 months before, she dumps me the same week my fwb/best female friend dumps me for a korean dude. I'm finishing grad school to go japan and it's a fucking disaster, but I make it through. It was absolute hell and I did nothing but school for a year. I hated everyone in my class too and I was the only non-jew, so that turned into a problem. Can't stand jews now.

I got a shitty eikawa job to get to Japan, but I had to be a dumbfuck and had to go.

I get there and immediately my two friends are like "hey, I'm too busy this month, see you next month". So I'm like WTF did I even come here for.

I immediately see the writing on the wall - shitty job, shitty friends and I'm panicking. Also got extremely homesick.

I went on 7 dates in 2-3 weeks. 1 fails in an only in Japan situation. 1 goes well, but the girl doesn't want me anymore when she finds out I'm leaving. Repeat this 2-3 more times. Married woman gets pissed I'm going back home and refuses to meet me. One hot girl I like is late for our date and she isn't hungry to go to dinner after I didn't eat all day. I was pissed and she sucked anyway. Another one is incredibly shy and ain't into me in person. I end up getting with a 45 year old milf. She's tall, thin and she sucks at sex, but hey atleast shes giving it up. She gets her period and there's blood all over the place and that kills my mood. I actually spent the last week with her and it was a nice relationship. She recovers from her period as I'm going home. Everything is good for 2 months, then she finds 2 bf's at the same time then stops talking to me.

My best japanese friend gets pissed when I tell him I can't deal with Japanese people and never talks to me again. My best American friend in Japan did find time to meet me there, but then comes to my country 2 years later on a vacation but he refuses to hang out with me. I ran every situation I could by him and it was all no's. Stopped talking to him bc who needs friends like that. Really a shame as he was my best friend.

I got home with almost no money left. Ended up going back to school and after a really bad year or two, I'm okay. Haven't been to Japan since.

I want to live in Japan again so much though even after all of this, but I'd have to have money. Walking around in the awful humidity and getting packed like meat in trains isn't for me and working 6 days a week all day long ain't my thing. I really feel like I fucked up by not manning up and dealing with the shit but I also wish I never went there in the first place.

Japan is just magic to me. I know what it's really like, but I cannot get this mythical alternate universe out of my head where shit goes right and I have a couple of girls, I go to concerts and hit up delivery health and fan events with porn stars on weekends. It's like a disease.

If you are serious about getting pussy, the first rule is to NEVER be satisfied. You need option A, B, C and R. You always gotta push for the next hustle. My general rule of thumb in Japan was that if they were looking at me, they were interested in me and it never failed to at least get me in the door. I eyed girls down while I was with my girlfriend. I hit on girls while I waited for her. I'd go on dates before I'd go on dates with her. I hit on girls on my way to going to meet girls because what the fuck else is there to do on the subway. Shit's pretty good if you are living in the US. Little expensive but Trump is President. The most amazing thing about 200 years from now is that they are going to have 200 years of TV/Sports to watch, 200 years of video games to play and more porn than anyone can imagine(don't worry, it'll still be in 480p). Just gonna echo the sentiment some people have already demonstrated and say that, you shouldn't jump straight to conclusions on how life is somewhere just based on a short trip.

You can still enjoy many aspects of Japanese culture without living in Japan, so you shouldn't feel too bad about not being bombarded by ads, signs and maids after every step you take in Akihabara. Japanese culture leaks onto the internet, you can go to Japanese imageboards, talk to natives on Twitter or over a VoIP client, read manga and watch streams of Japanese TV/anime/dorama, polish your weapon while watching JAV, buy overpriced tat from J-LIST... you won't get to go to a maid cafe or do Karaoke with a bunch of teenagers, but that shit is seriously overrated anyway.

There's very little you can't do that you have to be *in* Japan to do it. Be glad you can there every now and then on a trip and don't hold any illusions that your life will turn into a magical paradise if you move there instead.

Yes, they are. I don't know why people think it's so impolite to just say the truth these days. An underclass of people who are far dumber than the white average are obviously going to be an issue. Interbreeding can solve some of those issues, but black females rate as least attractive to every other race, which makes it very hard to get out of the IQ pothole.

"the truth" you say, as you ignorantly spout opinions when you don't even understand the basics of human biology. >> No.17446068 [DELETED]

>Human intelligence is far less based in genetics than you think
Where does a claim this baseless come from? Genetics are the sole factor for intellect and general aptitude.

You can't train a person to be smarter. You can pretend that race is "arbitrary", and not based on major geographical population divisions if you really want, but you're just ignoring facts. Can a black person have an average white intelligence level? Of course, but they're a full standard deviation above the norm. Next you're going to tell me women are just as smart as men on a population level, when we both know that's patently false.

It's bizarre that people like you accept basic things like most Asians being unable to drink milk due to genetic differences, or women being physically weaker than men (although nutjobs like yourself are even ignoring that these days), and yet intelligence can't possibly have anything to do with the different selective pressures each culture faced. Intelligence was never a factor in Africa, because growing things is very hard there, the leap from hunting to farming never came. The farmers in Europe and Asia who were smart enough to figure stuff out wound up having lots of wives and lots of kids, and the creation of society is what fostered intellectual development and a general increase in intelligence.

I'm a straight male. I want to put my dick in about 80% of all girls from ages 18-50 from 100lbs to about 200lbs, minus black women and muslims. Ain't sticking my dick in those. I'm average in most things but I'm above average in having women and I'm below average in other areas like marketable skills and math(my arch-nemesis).

>So you went to Japan with unreliable contacts

Had I not gone, I wouldn't have figured out my japanese friend was unreliable. My other friend there later turned out to be 2 years after. These people used to do favors for me all the time, they bought me shit, I had hung out with them multiple times and talked with them everyday.

>Not once did I waste my time chasing women.

Are you gay? You are in Korea and don't try to get with any of the girls who some consider the hottest in the world?

>And if my friends were busy (whom I met there), then I would go out and have fun on my own.

I had some fun, but you can only have so much fun in Japan when you are on a limited budget. Japanese TV was awful. My phone situation was fucked up as I used a cheapskate refillable phone and people had to call me, I couldn't really call them. Tried to get an iphone but the only plans they offered were x minutes/data from 11am-9pm or 9pm-11am while in the US, I'm on unlimited 24/7. No car there because I wouldn't be able to afford it. I have a car here.

>You got to do something many people here only dream of, and you completely squandered it. Clean up your act anon, I believe in you.

I do believe I squandered it and I did admit to doing so. I think I should have stuck out the year. I think it would have been a struggle, but I think I would have had some awesome only-in-Japan experiences. I will regret that for a long time but I play the lottery and if I ever hit, I'll be able to do it my way.

I'm doing good. Donald Trump is the President. My job pays better than average, but I don't make that much. I get 3 days off a week. I take no work home, there's no working overtime and my pay check is guaranteed and my job is extremely easy and hard to get fired from. I also can sleep til 11AM everyday if I choose. I own a house and I have a car and an iphone. I don't think I can do even half of this in Japan unless I hit the lottery.

On the girls side, things will always be good because I have options. I have the power to say no. I have the power to bail on someone who isn't playing ball. I have the power to pull my weight around if I need to. I have girls of all weights, shapes, sizes and relationship statues though they are all Asian because that's what I'm into. I have no less than 8 girls now who want to marry me and have my kids if I so choose. I'm in no rush to get married because I know 20 year old girls who will marry guys who are 60.

Japan is still this mythical place to me though. I feel no matter what you are in Japan, you can probably find a whole group of people are similar. I feel like you can do anything in Japan if you have money. I feel like Japan has a lot of things that can only work in Japan and nowhere else. But I also think it can be a brutal, downright retarded, stubborn, backwards and mind-numbing place at times.

Have you tried.

You have seem to given up on the basis that it is impossible, but in reality you can do any thing you want only if you try that is.

You are a retarded parrot spouting motivational nonsense you heard some other idiot say. Not everyone is born with equal potential, abilities, or was raised in such a way to promote success. Some people can not do certain things ever and that's just the way the world is.

It's impossible for some of us, stop this bullshit of ''u can do it if u just bee urself and believe in it xD"

Reality is, most of us will never get to live our dreams there, and maybe that's for a good reason, I don't know.

It just infuriates me even more when I see some jackass who had everything set up for him tell me how ''u can do it too breh'' without knowing what it involves.

Fucking moron.

I've been in Japan a little over three years, after only having worked a year - I was an illegal alien sleeping in my girlfriend's apartment and watching anime for about a year and a half, before landing my current job at $30/hour right before my visa would have ran out.

Tokyo's alright, but I was definitely happier, and had more friends, in the countryside.

What kind of job was that?

>my current job at $30/hour
What kind of job is it?

Please, I like to read about backgrounds from people who has been able to go there amd make a living. I can't self insert anymore with fiction works so I use other people's life to fantasize.

I taught English conversation and now I teach how to take tests written in English. It's a step up, but I really rather just focus on learning Japanese and trying to luck my way into a publishing company.

There were some interesting jobs I had interviews for, like a start-up in Shibuya, but the pay was shit.

Actually, even knowing Japanese seems to magically limit your salary. Strange how that works.

The fact that you live in Japan and don't know why this is makes me hate you even more.

Anyway, I was thinking that maybe if I somehow managed to do the impossible and find a job at a big TV network I MAYBE could end up in Japan.

This network I'm talking about from my country has a big franchise in Japan and they often need people there...

but then again I'm probably dreaming again.

I fucking hate this.
God damn it I wish I could at least set foot there...

Maybe in another life.

I thought I was the only one who did that.
It makes my shitty days just a bit less shitty knowing that at least someone is living their lives out there and enjoying themselves in Japan.

I do what you said too, I often think I'm in their place or try to imagine what I'd do if I were them.

Probably because you're applying for jobs regular Japanese people can do? You should be applying for more international positions.

Also, you need to be looking at your disposable income minus cost of living not your overall paycheck.

I am going to live in Japan. Going to language school for a year and a half followed by university for four years, for free! Thanks Uncle Sam!

Tfw going to live in Japan.

I don't pay rent because I'm dating a rich Christmas cake.
Nearly all of my paycheck is mine alone, save for the mandatory taxes.

Also no, jobs that require fluency in Japanese and English usually aren't meant for Japanese people - they're meant for Aseans, who earn far less than white people.

I have no idea what you're implying but I am sure you are wrong.
