I consider pretty much all the pop/light rock that appears in the games to be "normie", so Supercell, mitchieM, DECO*27, 40mP etc. all come to mind.

Not that they don't have good songs, but just having their name attached to shit doesn't impress me whereas I feel like it does with others. I gravitated to Vocaloid music to get away from the generic pop that everyone else is listening to, not to get more of it.

Best headphones you've ever owned?
Been looking to move away from the cheap $30 ones I've had for years now but I'm a bit lost so far and wondering what you guys were using. I'm also checking the /g/ thread.

My usual advice for non-audiophiles who want quality headphones is to look at what audiophiles recommend anyway, and then go around the low end of that (around $150-300 or so is a good place to start). In addition to the /g/ thread, check out /r/headphones' wiki for recs (/hpg/ will hate me for that, but it's best to not rely solely on 4chan for buying advice...). Head-Fi is a good audiophile forum, too, and they have a guide as well: https://www.head-fi.org/f/articles/headphone-buying-guide.14163/

Personally, I use pic related: Beyerdynamic 770 (but 32ohm in black instead). Pretty decent soundstage for closed headphones, and solid bass; good all-rounder. $180. Headphones are very subjective though -- I recommend trying several before deciding on one, see what you like. Be sure to try an open-backed as well, if sound leakage is not a concern.

You mean 80 vs 32 ohm? Haven't tried the 80, but check out "sound characteristics" in https://www.head-fi.org/f/threads/guide-sonic-differences-between-dt770-dt990-models-more.513393/ Although I can't imagine it's that large of a difference. Do keep in mind though, at higher impedance, you may need a soundcard or dac/amp to drive it (else it'll be too quiet; 80 should be fine though I think). If you get free returns, can't hurt to try it out.

hey controller anon, for the wires, does it matter if the connector on the switch actually goes inside the spade thing or not? I noticed the prongs on the 100mm button switch are too big to go in normally, but I was able to slide it on top, with the plastic bit snuggly holding it in place. as long as metal is touching metal, it should work, right?

Yes. I couldn't entirely slide some spades into a couple of connectors because tolerances and such but that doesn't matter as long as they don't fall while hitting the buttons. If the spade is a bit smaller than the connect then it's okay. It will remain firmly.

Is there a site where I can scroll through every Vocaloid/MMD/Rhythm video character, or has a searchable database of them?

I recently saw either a MMD or similar 3dcgi video with what I assume was a Voc song, and I'm trying to find a picture of her or the song, but failing. It's not in any of the common Vocaloid galleries.

But seriously, it's an awful feeling. You finally perfect that very difficult section and then it happens: you feel your digestive system stopping, your shoulders become numb and you have that slightly sense of fainting making you to fail on the next sections, where you didn't before.

The only good thing is that trying a second time usually works well, either because the adrenaline is already in your bloodstream or because the brain is not that good switching it off and then pumping it again in such a short time.

Don't act like they're different but equal. It's objectively inferior. They had to come up with the idea of macros because they knew it was impossible to play on a controller. It's a less fulfilling and ultimately less fun way to play. The only reason anyone would defend DS4 play is because they either missed out or couldn't afford the controller, so you get like non-buyer's remorse. No, I agree completely. I'm a developer as well; this is inexcusable. What's worse is they somehow can't manage to keep the existing site running while they build the new one. I don't understand what they're thinking.

But... mikudb is still a goldmine of albums, and they're still collecting and distributing new ones via chat, so no matter what happens, I'll stick by it. Hence why I'd like to keep it in our OP. We'd be losing a lot. It's not like we have any other sources as comprehensive as mikudb.

For the sides I think I used pine wood planks... anything that is not MDF is okay (MDF is too porous and you will have problems to painting it). The bottom of the case is MDF though, as is cheaper and you can't see it from the outside.

For painting I used a first layer of primer to prepare the wood and then a synthetic enamel paint: something with a lacquer that hides the wood veins and leaves a glossy finish.The only exception is the red line: I used acrylic paint for that.

If you use more than one colour, use mask tapes like these to make straight lines and leave the paint to dry for a good day or two between layers (I applied two for colour).

This. It's just Hachi missing his glory days when the scene was huge and everyone fucking loved him. His "real music career" is going well but he's not and can't be one of the "most famous/popular" like he was in vocaloid anymore, he's just another musician. I doubt he even knows or cares much about what's currently produced today, he just thinks vocaloid is dead because it's not set up for him to bask in the limelight as much anymore. Basically, he's massively projecting.

it's the general feel of the community, the types of songs, the attitude of people, etc.

It's hard to put it in words, but it changed a lot and a lot of people feel it, while the "majority" doesn't realize/care

There probably will be new fans 10 years from now, even if hardly anyone is producing anymore. There's a huge wealth of songs to delve into for anyone who happens to stumble it the future, vocaloid isn't going to be deleted from existence because it's no longer popular. It'd just be seen more as a thing from the past than it is now. Vocaloid could end up being the weeaboo equivalent of kids who complain that only music from the 70s/80s was good.

And who knows, maybe it'll have a revival of sorts in the future anyway, or maybe it'll stay small-ish but active like it is now.
