/jp/ - Otaku/General

Am I right?

How about we make separate boards for Japan/General and Otaku/General?

Or maybe a catch-all board for Art/Culture?

>> No.1730158

Make a board for Touhou and VNs.

That should clear this place up.

>> No.1730160

Kids here seem to forget how difficult it was to even get /jp/ in the first place.

What the shit.

Remove /jp/ and create /td/ - 2D/General (retain post count)

Travelfags will go bother /trv/, Chink-chasers will go to /s/, idolfags will go to iichan or something, people who suck at neehongoe will go to /lang/, and /td/ would double as /fig/.

SOMEONE EMAIL MOOT HOLY SHIT

>> No.1730187

/jp/ is really slow as is, It doesn't need to be broken up any further.

>>1730158
That's why /jp/ was created in the first place. /jp/ is not a happy place. It is a place of exile for the things that were kicked out of /a/.

I like /jp/ just the way it is. It seems to have balanced out in vn/touhous/figs/all the other stuff.
Sometimes there's faggotry, but that happens in every board, and /jp/ suffers the least from it.

>>1730187
I think the board rate is perfect at the moment. Compared to other boards that were created at the same time.

Seriously. Funny how it turned out to be the best board on 4chan.

Are you kidding me? /jp/ is full of shitposting.

The main themes seem to be Touhou and paedophilia. Now, that would be okay if the board was titled as Otaku/General. Too bad it's not.

I would not have a problem if the board would be more diverse and include both Japan/General and the otaku stuff. It's just that anything that does not fit into that nerd niche gets bashed by default.

>The main themes seem to be Touhou and paedophilia.

And the problem is....where?

>> No.1730257

>>1730241
/jp/ was created for those 'nerd niches'.
And I was comparing it to older times when touhou image dumps seemed to dominate the board, but now it's more balanced.

If you want to discuss Japan, do it in /trv/.

Somebody please tell me where /lang/ is. Please.

Why don't people like to discuss japan here? Do you really not like the diversity it brings?

>> No.1730339

Except /trv/ is full of kids who are either: (A) To cheap to use a travel agent, (B) To stupid to use google, (C) To lazy to do their own research, (A) & (B), (B) & (C), or (A) (B) & (C).

Because most people think that Japan is:
- randum xD!11
- An otaku paradise
- Full of Japanese girls who ruv gaijin rong time

Incidentally, Japan is neither of those.

Why does /jp/ love feet?

I love it too, though.

because japan is a boring subject for the most part. We aren't weeaboos, we're just interested in the products.

It's a text board.

>> No.1730373

/trv/ is basically "how do I meet japanese chicks, how do i find a hotel, what should I do in japan?"

The threads are not really about Japan, but dumbfounded american kids traveling in japan.

Oh, its a text board!

どうもありがとう!!!

I believe the main reason is that no one suggests interesting subjects regarding Japan ("why japan so racist", "why homeless people in japan have beards, "japanese girls are less slutty than western girls anyone agree"). And it doesn't help that you're always complaining that we're just nerds who don't appreciate the beauty of Japanese culture when you're mainly not getting any replies because you suck at making threads.

>> No.1730459

The reason your art thread yesterday failed is because when creating a general discussion thread, there needs to be large interest in the subject (at very least 1 thread on the subject daily on a slow board), and when creating a general image thread, you need to expect doing the majority of the contribution. If you want discussion, either pick a subject you know many people will care about, or ask specific questions that will encourage discussion. If you want images, go to /r/ or google.

Japan/General would have 0 posts.
