>Why is Rin so classy?

Natural hair color
Green eyes
Wears nice but modest jewelry
Has a mature fashion sense that isn't slutty
Soft spoken

>> No.17270865

I wish I had a classy female companion.
I wish I could be at least somewhat classy.
I wish I hadn't been born into a poor dysfunctional "family".

But then, classy 3D women are nothing like classy 2D women. What a sad life.

I knew two people who I would consider 'classy' or 'cultured'. Both are nice, but one is difficult to talk to about media because he will have a strong opinion on anything. He's also a /pol/ user so you have to avoid anything that might involve politics if you want to have a pleasant conversation. The other is very down to earth despite having very wealthy parents who are well educated and what I believe to be high class, but she was intimidating to talk to.

"Modern capitalist society diffuses and subverts the tensions inherent in the inequalities it produces by cloaking them in spectacles. These spectacles are the mass media images we see everyday. A worker in a modern society learns about his world through the spectacle and not through direct observation. Therefore it is necessary that the spectacle reinforces the established capitalist order by filtering what the worker sees. Subversive ideas and concepts are captured by the sieve of the spectacle, altered until they are no longer threatening to the world order, and then permitted to reach the worker. Entire societies are upheld by these spectacles.

In such a Society of the Spectacle, we can see how Shiburin is seen as 'classy' in the spectacle she both creates and is created by. Shiburin presents the most resistance to P-san's efforts to recruit her into 346, and she maintains the right to bluntly voice her opinions and push back against corporate demands. In the end, though, she always makes decisions that are in the best interests of her employer. Even her demeanor - cold and unresponsive to her supposed social betters - is nothing more than a facade. It is a prima face assertion of emotional independence that must inevitably melt into a puddle of bland, unthreatening subservience to P-san and the business interests of 346.

In this we can see how the Spectacle both manifests itself and is manifested by Shiburin's token resistance against an industry that uses its own workers as a highly disposable commodity. Many of Rin's Kimo-ota fanboys will inevitably be forced by the threat of starvation, in a world of theoretical plenty, to give their lives to other industries that view them as a commodity, a human RESOURCE. They will become cashiers at Family Mart for 900 yen an hour and no insurance. Software engineers on an endless death march making shovelware titles for the Switch. Construction labourers in danger of injury due to workplace safety cost cutting.

Yet many of them will tolerate their situations. They will view their own experiences not directly, but through the Spectacle of Shiburin. While they may think of demanding better pay or safer workplaces, Shiburin nips these expensive demands in the bud through her behaviour. Instead of demanding more competent leadership from 346, she acts 'classy' by maintaining a symbolic independence from her employer while simultaneously covering for the incompetence of P-san's leadership skills. She teaches the Kimo-ota wage-slaves that outright denying the demands of capital is not desirable or responsible, while presenting to them a conveniently harmless alternative in her own 'classy' behaviour."

“We should do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living. We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian Darwinian theory he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors and people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors. The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living.”

― R. Buckminster Fuller

>The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living.
Reminds me of this scene from Ep. 9 of Cinderella Girls. The show passes it off as a cute "betcha didn't know this lazy shit was a genius!" quirk and a deus ex machina for Candy Island in the quiz game. But rewatching the episode it's a fairly subtle affirmation of Anzu's anti-work beliefs. Market forces dictate that Anzu is more successful if she busts her ass as yet another idol in the entertainment industry than if she stays unemployed and studies pure mathematics in her spare time.
