I could honestly spin-off game featuring Aunn protecting the shrine, and have Mima be the final stage boss. I don't even really like Mima, but it'd be a good way to re-introduce her in a somewhat subtle way, while also giving a reason to why she is unable to influence the Hakurei shrine.

The worst thing ZUN could do with Aunn is have her get taken by the Buddhists. She's too cute and has too much personality to become Kyouko: Reloaded.

I went and checked game footage again, and when Kumano split in two, the real version is always on the player's RIGHT, even if you kill her clone and she spawned a new one. It is just too much of a coincident. Historically the Japanese were the ones who gave the Right lion a horn on its head, and calling it Komainu. And then over time the Japanese turned the Right lion into a Komainu as well, probably because they prefer home grown designs than a Chinese import.
