Should there be an OFFICIAL (Not fan-made) anime?

Yes. But only if ZUN gets 100% control. Also I think a film would be better than a seasonal anime.

Yes it does. It's time for the franchise to grow up and for that, this must happen:
>all touhou games released on steam with voice acting, cinematic cutscenes, toned down difficulty, updated graphics, remixed orchestral music, high quality art done by fanartists
>add option to skip gameplay for those who play it for the rich lore
>have extra stage (and all stages in general) unlocked from the start, 1ccs are outdated and archaic
>pointdevice mode for every singel game
>acknowledge memes (Overdrive, Marisa Stole The Precious Thing, McRoll) in the game like other games like overwatch and TF2 do
>official translation by professionals like NIS america
>epic last words like the tasofro games
>retcon more characters to be more inclusive (miko and marisa as trans, kokoro as autistic)

Zun writes the script for commercial manga and no one cares/many people enjoy them, if he wrote the script of an anime people would probably like it after the initial "muh sekrit club" wave of spergs like the ones you can see in this thread.

You are thinking small if you think this is a complete sell out. Have ZUN sold the rights to some third rate company to pay for tuition or something. Turn touhou into a battle harem anime series with a ordinary high school male MC. Turn every touhou girl into a shallow archetype that wants to marry the MC. Next retcon all existing males out of existence. Manga exclusive and not Mima/Yuuka PC 98 characters will never show up. Strike a deal with Toonami to make sure the dub air first. Bonus: add memes, yuri, and jabs against critics.

I mean - who WOULDN'T want to see it? Don't lie to yourself, now!
It is, however, vital that the story would be original and coming directly from ZUN.

>>16865117
How about a film to start things out (the idea of 'incidents' fits movie plots very well), and then a relaxed little Slice of Life anime series as a big dessert?
Maybe even have a second movie a year or two after the TV series is finished...

I really don't get the mentality behind this sort of talk. Are 1CCs really THAT hard? Is there ANYONE who tried and failed to 1cc a touhou game, at the very least on Easy?

No, Touhou is attractive exactly because it isn't commercial.

>UFOtable
Oh God no, UFOtable's shows are all flash, but no substance, the aesthetic of their shows basically boils down to mediocre animation with a bunch of computer effects added to make it look impressive and shiny (Unlike Space Dandy, which used computer effects masterfully and looks like something ahead of it's own time), and outside of some of the KnK movies, none of their recent stuff has been well-directed, i don't like the idea of an offical Touhou anime, but if it had to happen, i would much rather have studios like Shaft, P.A Works, Trigger or Kyoani do it than UFOtable.

>> No.16872719

>>16872694
I definitely think Trigger could capture the bullying aspect of Touhou. An anime would be a bad idea though, since anime-only fags are scum.

You do know the director has more power over the look of an anime than the studio's namebrand, right?
The main reason some studios have recognizable looks is because when people don't give a shit and just want to cut costs they reuse a lot of elements from show to show. A large enough budget, and they'll make it look whatever you want it to look. Another reason is returning character designers and animation directors, but those can be coerced or, come to worst, replaced.

When picking a studio for your fantasy touhou anime dream, pick it based on the studio's proven human capital/talent, and what history it had with executive meddling. But what you should really be focusing on is who will direct it, how much creative input ZUN will have in pre-production (and how much the guy actually knows what'd be good for a Touhou anime - very often creators tend to be overbearing), and how much production budget will it receive.

>> No.16872912

>>16872818
Most anime tend to have similar budgets anon, the idea that budget affects heavily how a show is produced is just a meme.
Also, pretty much every studio not named A-1 have their own in-house staff, whih is usually how certain studios gain differen reputations, UFOtable has one of the largest in-house CG team in the industry, Trigger has all of the people who worked on Gainax shows in the 90s and early 80s, every single show Shaft makes has minimal involvement and oversight from Shinbo to make sure the production doesn't burn and crash, and etcetera, The point is, yes, unless it's an A-1 Pictures show, the studios that make an Anime do at least give you an idea of how said anime wil be produced.

>> No.16875085

Guys, the mistake here is asking for just ONE anime series. It'll only work if you have multiple anime series with them being voiced by different seiyuu for each series, preferably airing in the same season.

>>16872149
Fighting games, no. I completely suck at them. I can't even clear stage 1 of Street Fighter IV on the easiest mode.

Bullet hell is easier, but I still lose way too many lives to be able to 1CC them.

>> No.16876340

>>16872694
I'll never understand this attitude that animation has to be "pure" and can't use digital elements.

>>16872818
>The main reason some studios have recognizable looks is because when people don't give a shit and just want to cut costs they reuse a lot of elements from show to show.
How are you people this deluded about anime? How does something like this happen?

>> No.16876410

>>16872694
If the was an official Touhou anime, I'd rather the animation look like it was hand-drawn, like the kind you'd see in the early 1990's. I think having all of these computer effects just seems to downgrade the whole thing.

>> No.16876496

If there is a Touhou official anime. Adapting the games won't be great.

But if adapting the book media would work. For instance, I would love to see CoLA animated. Sure, no need a lot of complicated motion, just make the show pretty looking is enough.
