I have always pronounced it toe-hoe, but i heard other fags say it's two-who

>> No.1685419

The more you say it, the more stupid it sounds. Like gaia or anime.

>> No.1685440

I say Too Hoo even though I know it's wrong. I also call manga "Maynga". I can't help it, I just feel like a huge faggot if it sounds like I'm speaking Japanese.

Those other fags probably pronounce "yaoi" as "yow-eee", and must be American. What retards.

>The character う is also used, in its full-sized form, to lengthen "o" sounds. For example, the word 構想 is written in hiragana as こうそう (kousou), pronounced kōsō.

So yeah, not two-who.

>> No.1685463

It's toe-hoe, don't let any faggots tell you otherwise.

>> No.1685486

it's more like
"Toh-hoh" except not pronouncing the h

really, you have to gain an understanding of the different vowel sounds and then the original romanization will make perfect sense to you.

>> No.1685497

It's Toehoe. I've seen it romanised in english as Toho before. Also that segment of some show where Zun was showing off his awesome hat pronounced it "Toehoe Project"

I get stuck most pronouncing Cirno. Is it Sir-noh, Churr-noh, Seer-noh or as a pretty fucking horrible fandub put it, KUR-NOH?

>> No.1685500

>>1685486
Native English speakers seem to have difficulties with pronunciation. English has no rules whatsoever. "ghoti" could be pronounced as "fish" (gh (laugh). o (women), ti (nation)) and there are words like "dreadnought".

>>1685497
chiruno

so kind of like "cheelno" if you were getting tripped up on the "l"

Yeah, English speakers must have it tougher pronouncing Japanese. Thank god German pronunciation = ~Japanese pronunciation.

And also, It's Tōhō, obviously. Or do you pronounce 東京 as Toekyoe

>>1685390
In Japanese, Touhou is "how you romanize" and "what you type to get the words (kana or kanji)".
Other version exists as Tōhō, simplified as Toho, etc.
Some use Toh/hoh to keep the lengthen to/ho, as well as Torhor (wtf?).

My preference as in English: Torhol.
That's near Toe-Hoe...
But anyway, is that in fact anyone who do care about original exact pronunciation?
