The whole manga has shown that Reimu is extremely overprotective of Kosuzu and cares for her more than she does for anyone else, while also showing the deadly dangers of becoming a youkai. In other words it's pretty obvious what ZUN's been trying to do, create a conflict where both Reimu's emotions and obligations are going to crash against each other.

Mamizou got stomped in a battle of wits by Kasen in WaHH but Kasen is also kind of a just-as-planned character too so I guess it's a wash.

I guess if Yukari, Mamizou, Eirin, Kasen, etc weren't good at plotting they wouldn't be considered a threat

FS in general seems to do these kind of red herrings intended to make you think one way and then go the other way (like making the reader believe Akyuu fooled Mamizou when Mamizou had intended exactly what occurred), so I don't think she'll fully turn. She will probably find some way to get rid of the youma books, or let the youkai have them.

It wouldn't make much sense for her to fully turn before getting a chance to actually talk to Reimu, but since Yukari was trying to make her scared of Reimu I'm not entirely sure what she was planning.

It would just be very weird for her to ignore the advice of her best friend (Akyuu) and not even try to talk to someone who really cares about and protects her (Reimu). But Marisa and Akyuu being a bit shady and not telling her everything is making her too curious.

Uh, that's not how MoF worked at all. The tengu ruled the mountain, then the Moriya Shrine showed up on top of it out of nowhere. There was of course some tension because the tengu are youkai and Kanako is a god. But nothing so drastic happened, because of two things. One was Reimu, and the other was that Kanako had no aims to conquer in the first place. It was Sanae's trash talk that got the Moriyas in a world of shit from both the tengu and incident resolvers.
And in the end the tengu and Moriyas came to a mutually beneficial arrangement - the tengu still keep rule over the mountain, and the Moriyas have a new flock to give them much-needed faith.

Either way, Reimu confronts her, they throw balls at each other for a bit until Yukari shows up and spouts nonsense philosphy about THE MEANING OF HUMANITY AND YOUKAI until she goes back to the shrine where she chats with Marisa who gets her to admit she wasn't fighting seriously in the first place, roll credits.

Kosuzu is already cursed due to holding the youma scrolls, she's doomed to some sort of fate. The Youkai all ganging up on her definitely won't let Reimu kill her if Kosuzu DOES end up becoming a Youkai, they'd probably exploit some sort of loophole in the rules to stop Reimu. Kosuzu seems to be a very important investment to the Youkai, they wouldn't make such an obvious mistake with her.
ZUN will likely throw some weird curveball.

Kosuzu probably doesn't want to tell her parents that two of the regulars she likes to shmooze with are youkai, one of whom is demanding her (probably secret) collection of youma books and the other is distributing newspapers to the entire village through her.

Additionally she is convinced by Aya to think of youkai as individuals who aren't all bad, and despite intimidating Kosuzu, Mamizou tells her she considers her a friend. Also probably hard to explain that gaphag visited her personally to make some kind of offer.

Of course nothing drastic happened, because Reimu appeared before it could happen. But the point is that the mountain youkai were planning to attack her if things kept going the way they were, Aya tells this to Reimu for the tengu but looks like even the kappa were involved if Nitori's words are to go by.

It was after Reimu put Kanako in her place that she accepted to come to terms with the rest of the mountain and stop aggressively spreading her religion. That's the whole reason the mountain youkai got angry at her.
