You'd need to be Zen in order to have defenses against mind reading. It's pretty much a "don't think of an elephant" situation. When your brain receives input it moves to calculate it automatically. It's basically impossible since mind reading violates the fundamental rules of human interaction.. I can't imagine an intimate relationship that doesn't involve some amount of dishonesty in pursuit of respect, courtesy, and kindness.

She seems to possess a human-like emotional state despite her ability, so I doubt it's possible for her to just ignore thoughts that hurt her, even if she really wants to. If it was possible then she wouldn't be isolating herself underground, and her sister wouldn't have gone so far to be rid of the ability.

With some work it might be possible to maintain a friendship with her. But love? No way.

Also, it's unlikely Satori would keep around a human she can't prey on (as much as what satori do can be called preying). The first humans she sees in a while in SA, and she instantly gives into her nature.

That's the thing. A relationship is a give-and-take sort of deal. Few youkai have anything to "give" as far as their modes of life dictate (no need for sustenance, so no drive or means to share it; no need for reproduction, so no breeding instinct, etc.), and satori have even less. They are basically and essentially a parasitic species.
