Hey /jp/ I'm about to start college, and as of right now I'm looking at getting a degree in marketing. If I was to move to Japan, how would this effect me? Is there other majors that do much better? If I move to Japan, I'd really rather not be an english teacher. It seems like most people who move to Japan are english teachers, which is not appealing to me at all.

My buddy worked in Japan for almost 5 years as an airport translator.

You would have to know how Japan tends to market their products, which might not be something they would let a foreigner, such as yourself, hold a position in. Consider something that they could use, that they don't have as many people working in. By the way, you should ask /int/ or /adv/ for help.

I've been told that some Japanese companys love to hire Americans for marketing. Because of all the products they sell in the USA. Because of this they also need people who know how to market towards American audiences.

Oh right, I guess I was meaning marketing to a Japanese audience, while in Japan. Yes, it would now make sense to have a marketing division for foreign markets, led by foreigners who can communicate to the heads of the company. Now that you mention that, you should see if you could go into that position in the future.

There have been a lot of bad threads the past few days. I think the meido is slacking.
