I know, first world/north tyris problems, but this is an interesting problem for me. Which metal pet to train. I want to train my character's previous master Akeno which was of the metal race with my previous character but what metal pet to use as a base. Changing names and gender of pets is a nonissue with forbidden meat and current options. Hero cheese and magic fruit are non issues too for where I'm at in the game.

Karata is a partial throwback to how metal pets were before their metal bit nerf. cMetal used to resist both magic attacks and physical damage but now it's just physical. Well Karata here is special because he has elemental immunity combined with being metal.

I brought Karata out and blew him up with spells to see if his elemental immunity is true. He's completely immune to all spell damage except magic and water and has 90% physical damage resistance. Both Pro Jet and Karata are melee based metal pets which makes them different than your typical bell. Karata has better speed and attributes but that INI score just makes me imagine how dreadful it's going to be to get AP and the amount of gold that it will devour to visit its trainer.

Picture has Akeno currently using Pro Jet as a base but I could change it easily. At any rate, wanted to bring attention to the new metal pet added to the game. Pet owner veterans further along in the game might be interested in having such a pet. Definitely wouldn't recommend it to people new to the game though as there are much easier pets to raise.

Let's see if I'm up to the challenge of using Karata as a base then. Already "corrected" her life with the hero cheese I've been farming and used a forbidden meat. The gold cost of training is already horrifying. 600k so far to take her from 40% potential to 100%. She spends about 18.5k gold each tick of visiting her trainer. Wonder what level of the void she starts out to gain AP consistently.

Looks like we both can do with additional pages to the ally list. So who's your favorite pet out of your lineup?

Thinking about it, my favorite is definitely Frealard the little girl. She's been with me since the very time I first entered Vernis, we've been through thick and thin, and her experience in punching people to death (and by extension, my choice to focus her training in martial arts) saved my arse a lot of times.

She's so good, she's overtaking everyone in my team, so I have to keep her in the bar half of the time to let others catch up in levels. Sadly, my ineptitude in farming left her with rather bad stats, but I'm working to correct that mistake now.

What's the most efficient way to farm music tickets now that spirits got nerfed?

>> No.16718622

Is there any reason to avoid letting a pet learn every skill? Basically, when a pet trains in town, are their potentials increased by a total amount per training event and then divided among the available skills, or are their potentials increased by a certain amount per skill? In the first case it might be favorable to limit a pet to only their most important skills (tactics, weapon, evasion, etc for a melee pet for example) in order to avoid wasting gold on potential for less important skills. In the second case it's definitely better to get them every skill as they would gain attributes quicker for no additional cost.

>> No.16718635

Is there any consistent way to increase your weight? I've vomited a couple of times and apparently my tall swordsman weighs in at about 30 kg.

I don't even know if there are bad downsides of being this under weight or if it is just like age and meaningless, but now that I've seen it I can't ignore it.

>> No.16718674

>>16718622
Last time I looked up the code to check it, I found out that visiting a trainer gives a pet 2% of potential in 7 main stats and 3% in every skill learned, so it's better to give every skill to your pets as soon as possible.

>>16718650
My fairy at some point of her life weighed 1 kg without any downsides. And to gain weight, you basically need to eat as much as you can, and not vomit (vomiting reduces weight).

Spirits are still the best way to get tickets. Saya's sprite I made by heavily editing another sprite I had. Mai's sprite is the default witch evolution of the little girl route found in the game. Akeno's sprite is a lightly edited sprite by simply just changing hair, eye, and ribbon color.

So Mai's sprite you can find in game. The original sprites of the other two can be found in that very large Chinese pack in the mod pastebin. I originally found the sprites on the Elona uploader and on pixiv so you can also go there if you're interested in sprites but that pack mentioned earlier is really good and has a lot of stuff in them.

>>16718897
If you have enough herbs and speed uppers to restore speed potential you can raise speed just by doing that(and the every now and then drinking of Herme's Blood) and instead spend all AP on bonus points for skill. That's the ideal situation imo. However, depending on circumstances and where you're at in the game, that ideal situation might not be there yet. I wouldn't feel bad about spending AP for speed. Speed is important to have and you should spend enough AP on speed to the point where you think you're fast enough to survive. Despite what I last read in the wiki about the number they have as the AP cap, I reached the supposed cap yet I'm still gaining AP and spending it so I have no idea if there is even a cap to it. Having said that, most of my bonus points come from wonder scroll/wish spellbooks that I use to wish for potions of descent that I bless for levels.

>> No.16719018

>>16718897
Forgot to answer the first part. I would say skill is harder. I tend to cap speed long before I cap any skills. This has been true for all of my pets and my character capped speed around the same time he capped casting. No other skills were close to capping besides that though. Just need to spam oracle to cap casting so casting is one of the easiest skills to cap in the game if you keep the potential for the skill high.

I haven't touched this game more than off and on in ~2 or 3 years (I think E+ 1.27 or 1.36 was the most recent version I played heavily). I was just diddling around NT collecting unique weapons (and gods, once that feature existed) and farming and ranching, basically taking it easy.
Today I decided I should actually try to play the main quest. Turns out my IRL years of inefficiently grinding stats were effective: I obliterated the bosses that hold the Lesimas keys, handily beat the Chaos Fort bosses, and said "heh" when my level 160 magic dart crushed Zeome. Then I beat all the ST key bosses, grabbed the Kumi statue and the mansion etc, and got beat down mightily by Estork in about 4 breath attacks.

So how do I efficiently grind up to where I need to be to kill these ST chaos bosses? I'm thinking:
1. Go back to NT.
2. Build herb farm to eat herbed herbs.
3. Walk back and forth across NT
a. clearing each town's quest board and checking the invested magic vendor for wonder/potential/descent/attribute/growth/flying
b. triggering the Kumi statue for more seeds
c. rushing easy dungeons for little sisters -> more Kumi statues
4. repeat until v. strong

Is there a better way?
Also for skills/spells, should I sandbag a monster or just try to find something relatively benign in the void?

>the number they have as the AP cap
>I reached the supposed cap yet I'm still gaining AP
It looks like they just took the equation they have for "whether or not you will get AP based on Attribute INI" and worked backward, assuming an all-around 2000 enemy, to get the theoretical maximum. If you've gotten more than 80000 total AP then their equation must be wrong or there must be some other check to it that lets you get AP from a sufficiently strong enemy regardless of your total.

After I got him as a pet I ran the test again and he was still immune to the above. Even meteored the place and it was still standing. I don't know about that, are pets stored uniquely from their originating NPC type?

Based on his 1 Life it probably wasn't a mistake to give him both flags, I guess they just weren't thinking about the minmaxing applications of a low-level NPC which shrugs off every damage type. They could also have given him a useless combat AI if they didn't want him being exploited (not that it would matter in Custom), the fact that they didn't means they either just didn't think about it or don't care. If they don't change it he'll be the probably be the absolute best "end-game" pet around; even if you don't want one on your current character just grab and spindle him for your gene where he'll be even better due to the speed nerf and INI reset.

>> No.16719640

>>16719474
I recall in the past with my previous character Ano coming down with the decision to remove the spell damage resistance on metal pets because he thought it might be a bit too much with physical damage resistance. Flash forward to now, it piqued my interest when I saw in the patchnotes a metal creature that had elemental immunity. I found it so strange that this creature pretty much goes against the previous decision Ano made on combining near spell and physical immunity on one creature.

Had to test out the creature with Kai and surprisingly it's exactly what it's stated to be. I have no idea if it was a mistake or intentional but it was just there to be used. If it does get nerfed I'll completely understand and probably switch back over to pro jet but if this was completely intentional this pet certainly will fill the tank role very well. Considering Akeno is supposed to be my near indestructible martial arts teacher for Kai that terrifies him, Karata makes a good base.

I would be absolutely terrified for my character had to fight an army of scaled up Karatas.

>>16719039
A solid plan. Might want to throw in opening up a couple of specialized shops for gold and item trade ins, doing awakened dungeons, taking advantage of artifact fusion, and crafting gear while you're at it. Can't level up spells or skills on sandbagged creatures anymore so you'll want to grind skills, levels, and AP in the void. Your goal might be to eventually crush the demigods of Irva(Amurdad, Sophia, Rovid, etc) for their useful items.

Learn how to level up your skills by looking at this google doc.

It seems to actually have really high average damage while twohanded when compared to gaia hammer, I put it on my fire dragon child after giving her hands and generally speaking she whacks things about twice as hard with axe crits than she does gaia hits. Maybe it's just because she always crits, all the time. It's a lot more rare for her to not crit actually.

The majority of these are custom maps, the majority of them user maps with combat encounters for extra challenges beyond what you would find in standard Elona+, modeled after the structure of quests, and can be installed by simply inserting the .PUM file included in each instillation into Elona+'s "user" folder.

A couple of them are also using an experimental method I devised in order to allow the creation of custom multi-floor dungeons by replacing the floors of existing areas, which I'm using Lesimas for for the time being: unlike user maps, they're fully intractable just like any other dungeon in the game!

The included readme files for each map should tell you how to properly install them in-depth, but I'd personally suggest to install Ol-moran first, back up your save, and follow the readme which should teach you both how to use a .PUM file as well as details for the replacement of Lesimas's second floor, and if you can figure that out successfully install the Holiday Special Dungeon; the two "quest" maps are meant for higher-level characters who have completed Act 1 (Blades Inc.) and Act 2 (Melugas Airfield) respectively.

Though technically, Kai's personal quest is downloadable by anyone, unless they're a god-slaying bravado like Kai himself attempting to partake in them will lead to a swift and messy end, though included in the files are a bunch of cutscenes that were posted in the past to explain what exactly is going on to new viewers, as well as an extra which contains monster descriptions for Yacatect's many servants, including card translations for NPCs (the paragraphs lined in "quotation marks"), for those interested in contributing to Elona Custom.

The Custom NPC pack is a pack that contains custom NPCs like Miyana's included in the OP, and works by the same rules.

I suspect you could find one by running dungeons long before you'll make enough money to invest a store up high enough to stock them and then have it actually stock one. I started finding them at probably dungoen level 30 or so.
Certainly before you find one as a shop tradein, assuming shops will even trade in books.
Absolutely before you transmute one with alchemy, assuming alchemy can even produce mutation spellbooks.

Welp. I managed to kill Zeome with my no spells character and I am a bit confused to a couple of things.

One, I was only level 36, only 2 of my low level pets died in the fight, my just evolved valkyrie and military putit survived at mostly full health(highest level is 32), and the whole fight from first blow only took like 5 turns. I didn't think zeome was supposed to be that easy to kill. Not that I'm not happy I managed it without much fuss but... it seemed a bit anti climactic.

Two, since I managed this without a farm or anything, how much prep should I do before heading into South Tyris?

And finally, why can't I get my valkyrie to use cheer in elona custom? It doesn't show up at all in abilities, or even give me the option to teach it to her.

1) I didn't have to go far to investigate the airships spotted in the sky by the shop keepers in South Tyris. One of them landed on my front lawn.

2) Upon stepping forth two gunships came into view and immediately started to spray us with bullets. Mai and Saya were hurt very badly in the first hail of bullets. Despite how strong they were, if one spray can cut their HP in half they would be a liability instead of help.I told Saya and Mai to retreat back into our home and that I would go out there myself.

3) I proceeded to charge at the two gunships while they sprayed me with bullets. My magical barrier(AP trait) kept me safe while I blasted the gunships with magic storm to bring them down.

4) When the two gunships fell from the sky another gunship quickly appeared along with golden armor golems and tanks. In the distance I saw an airship and many golems and tanks pouring out of it.

5) While dealing with the enemies before me the leader of the group, Father Yorgen, met me on the field. He would teleport around throwing spells at me and throwing out challenges. Unfortunately, the army that was quickly surrounding me kept me from dealing with him. I would have to slay the army before me.

6) I slowly fought my way to the front of the ship and it became abundantly clear that I needed to stop using magic. I needed the MP to keep my barrier up and to stay on the offensive. I decided I would use swarm, attribute, and clear mind to take out this army with my martial arts.

7) Eventually I made my way onto the airship and killed the people on it.

8) While exploring the ship I came in contact with the cannons. In the process of attacking me the airship was damaged.

9) The cannons shot their nuclear warheads at me causing great damage to my barrier. At this point I noticed my barrier was weakening which could mean that the fight ahead could go bad.

10) I managed to slay the rest of the army on the airship and decided that the weapons room on the airship would be the place I would face Father Yorgen one on one.

11) At this point in time my barrier shut down. I would have to make use of healing spells now to heal myself and I would have to pay attention to running low on MP. No MP means no healing and my eventual defeat. The fight with Yorgen lasted quite awhile. He would heal himself, teleport around while shooting spells at me, and engage me in melee. Since he was using spells I decided to see if I could stick a mist of silence on him. It was hard getting the hex to stick but I eventually got the hexes on him. It was very important for me to land that hex near the end of the fight as he would heal up. Eventually I managed to defeat him and stood triumphant. Although the airship is badly damaged, maybe I can have head of R&D Elga fix it up or reurpose it.(Redesign a property as an airship).

12) Installation was easy and no problems occured. Just put the pum file in the user folder and went to the showroom to begin this adventure. I found it pretty fun and I enjoyed myself. Thank you for creating this. I look forward to your other works. Total damage Kai took on the map: 12,119,365. My pets definitely need more HP. I'd farm more hero cheese for them and level them up some more but right now I'm working on Akeno.

Mmmh, so it must be percentage, with multiplicative effect.
Something like 1.5^10, maybe.
This probably means it's extremely worth it with wings and panties and others high base item, but since at 2000 negotiation a pet can only sell for up to 505000gold per item, it's probably not wise to go up to +10 enchantment.
In fact, even +2 or +3 would hit 505000gold with panties, assuming it is indeed 1.5^(enchantment level).

Meh, less hassle to just raid the magic vendors and sell the scrolls, book and potion anyway, not worth bothering all that time spent raising enchantment level of trash probably.

Hour in and no crashes so far. Customized an AI for my witch Mai, went to the void, and did some crafting. While the customized AI works just fine and I haven't experienced a crash yet, I did find a minor bug. Minor because it's avoidable.

In the picture I'm sharing I customized Mai, a witch that had Leold teach her variable storm, with a specific action routine. When enemies appear I wanted her to check if my character had Hero running and if not, use the special action cheer. She would then approach the target if they were far way and when she got a certain distance spam magic storm. Once the monster got into melee range she would poke the monsters instead of use magic storm.

While customizing the first if then statement for cheer, everything was working well until I got to the comparator. When choosing the comparator you can select a) Not Set b) = c) != and d) Back. When I hit the c key on my keyboard what showed up was the > sign instead of the != sign. I wanted the != sign. Not the > sign. I also noticed that if I hit the b key on my keyboard I got the < sign instead of the = sign.

The work around I found was to just to use the direction keys to highlight the != sign in the menu and to press enter. So I did that and now everything works fine. So I just wanted to share that minor bug. Aside from that I'm pretty happy with things so far in Custom. Glad to be able to see store restock timers and the exact amount of gold pets are spending on their training sessions.

40 hours, level 30, 90-120 for each stats, 6 farms, 1 shop, only missing three skills ( unfilfilled goal behind my death ! ), probably could have taken out Zeome since i had a #####+ nether gloves set aside in my inventory.

This is embarrassing. Not until now did it occur to me that I had a stamina battery right next to me. Instead of using vampiric ability on my enemies to recover my stamina I could have just nibbled on Saya like Slayer does in the fight openings in Guilty Gear with his wife. Going for the enemies jugular is probably still better but at least nibbling on your pets can be interesting if you have a talk file.

Haven't experienced any crashes from alt tabbing yet with the CU HF. I play in both window and full screen depending on how much multitasking I have to do. I frequently alt tab to change playlists or podcasts. Hopefully I won't run into a crash because of the save scum penalty in Inferno but if I do I can farm hero cheese to bounce back.

A long time ago when I had a similar problem, for some reason the problem dealt with sprite sheets and making sure I took all the custom content I had in a prior version and making sure it was now in the appropriate folders in the new version. Had to get rid of outdated stuff too. For some reason I stopped having crashing when I alt tabbed back then so maybe it was a sprite issue.

Ok, I was wondering if I could get some advice on where to go from here because I am a little confused how to proceed.

I'm doing a no spells, 2 hand sword/magic device only, pet run because I liked the rp possibilities.

I've mostly been wandering about doing job board quests and low level dungeons. No real grinding or farming.

I decided to try my luck with the Crypt of the damned and blew through it getting my last key. Then I went down through Lesimas just to see how far I was from fighting zeome. My unevolved pets and I took him down, then I killed the Chaos Child for his sword.

I've always heard south tyris was hell compared to North Tyris so I decided to wander around the map, but avoid accepting any quests. Well I accidentally agreed to the pirate quest, and wound up beating it only losing 3 of my pets to the captain.

Since that was a level 100 quest and I was level 36 I decided to try my luck with other quests. I've easily done Nightmare, The Miromi Statue Quest, Revenge Mountain, and defeated my first void boss.

Basically I have no idea what I should be doing since the actual levels of the quests don't seem to mean much. So, from my parties stats what should I prioritize right now? Get an herb farm steady with the statue for Herb Ins? Try to grind ap? Should I just throw myself at the chaos forts and South Tyris until something kicks my face in? Or something else?

Heavy has the best PV, and gives the best ability for tanking. Perfect for pets or any PC not intending to rely on casting. The spell failure rate's not that bad if you just need casting for buffs.
Medium has the best ability for casters, and the minor cast chance hit isn't an issue if you're a Warmage and don't make it worse by dualwielding or having a shield.
Light is honestly pretty meh unless you're 'tistic about never ever failing a cast or are a fairy with no better options.

Now that I've cleared the preliminary work for my pet Akeno, it's time for me to have Kai craft some living lightsabers for Akeno. Too bad the theoretical perfect living weapon is not feasible to craft in Inferno Mode(All in magic attack). Looks like I'm going to have a rainbow(all elements) lightsaber no matter what I do. Since save scumming is punished in Inferno, ideal lightsaber creation is affected but I also wonder if anyone has actually made a successful mutant in Inferno mode.

I have my adamantium material kits on standby for my living lightsabers. Considering material kit spawn rates are going to be upped next patch, I can craft some starter living lightsabers in the meantime for Akeno to use and not feel too bad about using up the good stuff while I craft more later in the hopes of getting better living lightsabers.

>>16744223

>>16744298
The Chaos Forts in the south will be a humbling experience for a lot of recent arrivals to South Tyris. Especially if you vs Siva or Yerleswood. If you're having an easy time with the quests I guess you can try the chaos forts but my gut tells me you're going to be in for a painful time if you try to kill them at your current point.

Now that you're in South Tyris, you've probably solved your money making problems, potential problems, corruption problems, mutation problems, and you should be well on your way to solving your resist and immunity problems. The South Tyris part is now all about understanding how to get stronger, attributes and skills, and putting things into motion that will strengthen your character and team.

Setting up herb farms is definitely one thing you should be doing. AP collection is important so doing high enough dungeons or the void is a good idea. Work on increasing your speed with AP and possibly picking up the special AP traits. Ditto for your pets. Once your speed is sorted through AP or some other way like Hermes Blood, Speed Uppers, Herbs, etc then I would look into AP to bonus points but you really want to get a lot of speed on your character or things in the future will be rough. So yeah herb farms and AP gathering should be your main activities for now.

Before I even set foot in Lost Irva/beat South Tyris I had grinded up my dungeon danger level to 500. Due to the dungeon gold nerf, I guess it's not as important to get it that high anymore but if you can do those kind of dungeons you should be pretty powerful and can deal with most challenges the story up to this point can throw at you. Also nobody in my book can really call themselves a veteran adventurer until they've experienced the joy of bringing down their first Atlus, Stag God, or Five Head God. I knew I was pretty happy when I achieved that milestone. It was exciting for me to go fist to fist with an Atlus. One of the times in my Inferno run where my run could have been cut short.

I have yet to make more than 500k gold up until this point, and now I am saving for the maid mansion I have managed to make 700k over the course of an in game month.

I was still trying to get my shops in port kapul where my house is set up leveled in rank when I beat Zeome. I have a single magic vendor up to 160, and a black market salesman invested in that I can't really afford the equipment from.

I have a decent set of resistance(nothing below normal, 5 in the superb range) by pet crafted armor and static artifacts.

I keep up potential with breakfast and platinum.

I protect against mutations with a godly dawn cloth fairy hat of see invisible creatures.

The only thing I reliably have under control is corruption.

Seen people beat Zeome as early as level 30 but people usually beat him at a higher level. Could possibly beat him earlier if inheritance and bells are used. Not necessarily a bad thing that you beat it as early as you did. You now have access to the AP, more towns and their job boards for quests, and more vendors. All very good things. I rushed South Tyris access for these things.

At any rate, seems like you have a good understanding of what's important and you seem to have ideas on what to work on. I'd say trust your hunches on what you're supposed to work on. You're probably right.

I do have a couple extra pet related questions though.

One, how much life is considered reasonable for a pet? I've been funneling hero cheese into my fox brother so he's now up to 62, but the next lowest is my valkyrie with 80. Would that be a good stopping point for him?

Also how can I make my valkyrie more efficient? She had shadow step, hiryuto, and the pirate shining wave cutlass and can mince stuff when in range. But since she cheers the rest of the party her speed is lower during combat than everyone else. I've given her 43 speed worth of speed rings that's helped slightly. Should I pull her aside to grind ap until she is fast enough to keep up?

Also I just realized ap training the fox brother is gonna take forever.

62 life is really low, for reference, the three pets that follow me around have 150+ life, I used to run around with 12 pets but they kept dying and it get really costly (I tend to go in dungeons way over my level).

If he stands in the back and shoots spells the whole time, 100 will be sufficient, in the case he gets hit by some AoE breath attack that really stings.

I would consider putting some health into your Valkyrie straight away, since she would be on your front line, since AP is easy to gain with little girls it would be better for you to get health on her through that than through hero cheese.

>> No.16746867

I should really check my facts before I use them. No, you can't get health for AP, for some reason I thought you could, and for a reasonable amount of AP. Just hero cheese your fox brother to 80, then get the valk to 100, then get the brother to 100 and then the valk to 120.

I think baseline stats of 100 in life and mana for pets is enough for most of the game. If you can get more that's always good though. My first pet I worked on for this character, Saya, is an Elea Warrior and she had 90 life for a very long time before I upped it a bit recently. Didn't have many problems with her so if you can get life and mana in the 90 to 100 range you'll be golden. Hero Cheese, Ruby equipment, and evolutions can help get you to your target.

If your Valkyrie is checking to see if your party has cheer first and then shadow stepping to her enemies, that might be as efficient an AI as you can get her.

Since she's dual wielding it is very important for her to have access to multiple attacks in one action. Ideally the weapons would have timestop and deal lots of magic damage as well. So any equipment that has the stat saying, "additional attack chance." should be given to her if your character doesn't need it.

The weapons you're using now for your Valkyrie is fine but eventually you may want to transition to living lightsabers like I'm doing with Akeno and run a good material kit through them. By using an Ether(Pets are not affected by ether gear and the corruption it brings) or Adamantium material kit you can get a lightsaber up to 2d15 damage with 100% pierce. Having two living lightsabers doing 2d15 damage, with lots of magic damage, with a dual wielding pet doing 8 attack an action, should be pretty good.

Once you're done taking care of your characters speed, then you might want to consider raising your Valkyrie's speed through AP. After that, use AP to bonus points. The core skills of a dual wielder are tactics, dual wield, and weapon skill of choice. I would first shove all bonus points into tactics to aggressively increase her damage. Once tactics is around 500 I would then do weapon skill of choice and bring that up to 500 and last dual wield. Although I recommend tactics first, if you're having problems hitting then put points in weapon skill of choice and dual wield until you're hitting fine then go back to upping your damage.

If fox brother's INI is still around the numbers of the god reward pets it shouldn't be too bad. Higher INI to me usually translates into meaning that I'll have to spend more gold on them for training fees and that they'll need to start off fighting higher level enemies compared to their lower INI pets which can start with weaker enemies to gain AP. Part of the reason why I train only one pet at a time and bench the rest is for that reason. I get a pet to a certain level of skill and attributes then I work on the next pet.

If I was in your shoes, I would be benching everyone and first working on the pet with the lowest INI score/easiest to train. By the time I'm done training said pet to a certain skill and attribute level, both my pet and my character should be stronger and further along in the game. This means that I'll have more resources such as more gold/ability to generate more gold, can do higher level dungeons/harder void floors, more materials to craft things, more vendors to buy goods, etc. With access to more resources, training that higher INI score pet shouldn't be as hard.

That's just me though. By all means do what you think is best for your party based on your circumstances. Do what works for you.

If the pet number wasn't so restrictive, I would so create one hell of a steakhouse. Set up my ranches, feed my cows beer and constantly brush them and massage them, and once they've lived a decently long and pleasant life I would slaughter them. Sell my Wagyu in my inn or set up a property to be a steak house. Watch the gold come in and at the very least, know that my character will be coming home from a long day at the dungeons to a good meal. But no steak house for me sadly.

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I was using a blessed +10 diablo before I got the Mourbeblade, so I will probably give that to the her for timestop. I just remembered I gave my defender twin edge forever ago to try and proc healing rain with the holy lance. I'll just trade out their necklaces and that should also give her a boost.

Fire Fox Brothers ini is 275/204. I'll just have to work harder with him.

I'm probably going to do what you said and try to give each of them some personal training. But if you don't mind I have a couple more questions.

Would you recommend me spending my ap immediately on speed, or would it be worth it to try and get barrier early since I don't use my mp for anything but the occasional mp breath?

And lastly, I've had my defender using a crafted shield that gives him nullifies damage taken to make him tankier which seems to work since he is my only pet that survived the Cat Queens onslaught when I fought her last night. I wanted to try and teach him shield bash so I could eventually teach him the new shield skill from the past couple of updates, however the option doesn't show up. Is that feat simply not teachable in custom or am I missing some requirement?

Seriously thank all you guys for the advice though.

>>16747948
Barrier without a doubt is a good trait to have. That point was driven home to me in the custom adventure made for Kai where Father Yorgen and his army did 12 million+ damage. I'm happy that went to my barrier instead of to my HP.

Barrier is a pricey AP purchase though. It costs 2000 AP. Alternatively with 2000 AP, you can increase your speed several times, 20 points each, or get 100 bonus points to spend on skills. For a pet it's 30 points each for AP to speed and 400 bonus points to be used on skills.

The way barrier works is that damage goes to MP instead of HP. When your MP is reduced to a 1/3 of the total amount barrier shuts off. Due to this, barrier's value improves as you level up, and possibly use magic fruit, to get more MP. So depending on your level and mana attribute, barrier might not be as valuable early on since the actual amount your MP can be used to shield you might not be considerable enough to justify the purchase.

So one of the factors of whether it is time to pick it up is if you have MP to burn. This factor is doubly important to consider for spell casters who use their MP to also attack. If you're not a spellcaster then you need to weigh whether or not the amount of current MP that acts as a damage sponge is worth putting off for a bit an increase in speed and skills.

Getting barrier was one of my later purchases for both my character and pets. I mainly focused on raising speed and skills. As I leveled my character and my pets got stronger, it became easier and easier to justify the purchase of barrier. So eventually I got barrier.I just didn't get it immediately. So that's what I did but if you want to just get it out of the way for peace of mind that's understandable too.

I didn't see the shield parry as a teachable special action on any of my pets. Shield bash itself I think is now a gauge attack for shield wielders.

Real time or perhaps turns to kill him could be meaningful as Act 2 (and therefore statues of Kumiromi) form the basis of most end-game grinding strategies and you could then compare real times or turns between various Act 2 rush strategies to determine which is the "best", but having the best strategy is again probably pointless besides jaypee internet community bragging rights.

What is the point of the mining skill? Digging walls seems like a pretty niche skill at best and a completely useless one at worst (aside from the obvious utility of training CON risk-free, not that CON is hard to raise). The difference between the kumiromi statues and lulwy statues or kumi gems is that you can save up the products of the kumi statues while you go do other stuff, while getting your regrowth through lulwy and kumi gems requires you to slavishly return to your farms in order to use them and get their timer going again. Had to get some hero cheese and magic fruit to bounce back from game crashes recorded as savescumming in Inferno too. So that's all I've used my little sister awards on. After you get the scissors you can focus on gemstones but before that point you do need something to create your herb seeds and kickstart those farms so that's where the statues come in.

I've found a bit of a bug in 1.66 elona+ cu.

Nothing major, but the gravity feat is named sexy dance in the choose feat menu.

Shouldn't be a bug with E+CU exclusively, I can see in the original 1.66 version it is also named that way too. I think it just wasn't translated.

Ah, my mistake then. I guess that's what I get for not updating in such a long time.

Progressing cozily. Got the god amulet from a crab minutes ago from an harvest quest, so next november i'll have that sweet sasumata for serious training. Got a shop deep in my inventory for a month now, kinda don't know who i should get as a shopkeeper.

I think i'll go for a black cat, because it'll make for cheaper town training down the line when i'll need her to lick my big long and thick artifacts.

Not the usual question, but wanted to ask opinions here.

How easy would it be to create an elona tabletop game? And if one was made would anyone here be interested in it?

I mean, weapons and abilities already use dice rolls with modifiers for damage, they have primary attributes with more specialized skill levels, built in feats, plenty of playable races.

The skill system even provides ways to get exp without just mindlessly killing things.

>> No.16760998

Does material even matter in terms of PV and DV once your armor/evasion skills is high?

>> No.16761754

>>16760951
I considered doing this in the past, and someone in Japan has also considered it if you google search it. Both instances made no progress.

The biggest issue is that Elona, and most other roguelikes, do many calculations inside the code every time you take a single step. You'd pretty much have to remake the entire game system from scratch and just use the assets in some form I guess.

Depends on what you mean by "high". If you're talking "compared to a maxed skill of 2000 supplemented by maxed out Holy Shield", then no not really.
If you mean "100-200" which is a lot saner, then yes material still very much matters.

Hey Kai, out of curiosity what's your character's armor skill at?

Highest is Medium Armor at 569 which is the armor weight class I settled on for Kai after flying scrolls became more available through invested magic vendors.

Looking back on it the armor skills are incredibly hard to raise since you only gain skill exp after a certain amount of in game time has passed. The only other way to get exp is to have very low max HP and take a mortal hit. So early in the game armor skills can increase the fastest but becomes slower as you level up and gain HP. Even if there was a way to lower max HP the fact that I have to take a mortal strike and constantly be near death's door is unacceptable for me in Inferno mode considering I don't want any mistakes.

On a side note, I have thought about armor and its relationship to pierce. I suppose in the normal game where you do story dungeons and normal unawakened dungeons that the damage you do with a weapon with lots of pierce vs a weapon without a lot of pierce isn't really anything to write home about. However, against enemies that scale, I would imagine their armor skill is constantly going up making pierce that much more valuable. Lucky for me martial arts already comes with 50% pierce on it. Made sure my other pets have weapons with pierce on them as well.

Is there anything I can do with this custom AI to make my executioner less adamant about just mashing death word over and over again on things that are immune or might as well be immune to it, or things where it'd just die if she shadow stepped?
Do I actually even need it on with her death master passive?

That is a good point. But even if it won't be that easy I might still try to throw a bare bones adaptation together for when my group wants to do a one shot and see how it goes from there.

I took a break from Elona. Sorry about that.
Sprite pack updated for 1.66. Added those scroll image things during the character creation menu (and apparently the main menu) and fixed the UI a bit.

There's already a lot of Younger Sister sprites, but I wish there were more.

Is the shield tonfa worthwhile enough for a new spawn to make it worthwhile to just run around collecting statics and then go get it before I bother to do anything else? The wiki talks it up quite a bit.

>> No.16764439

>>16764432
I wouldn't say it's good enough to make trips without another reason, but you can easily do some quests from city to city, grab all the static medals in each city, and then do a two-way cargo trip to Noyel for some cash and grab the Shield Tonfa on the way.

I meant martial. If you fought with your hands then getting the tonfa early would be a no-brainer. But if you use weapons then it's just a "good" idea.

First time i got <Ragnarok> through the assassination event.
Speaking of <Ragnarok>, the comment on its page is mighty interesting :

>Take this to high dl dungeons to get alot of small medals. Wear vindale cloak. Clear a level. Summon monsters. This scales to your level and not dl. Monsters from ragnarok tend to range from level 40 to 80. Drops scale to dl. Monster spawns from ragnarok do not scale up. This spawns alot of dragons. They drop chests. These often have small medals. Odds increase with dl. Use a luck boost when opening chests to increase odds.
>Dungeons respawn slowly. I have done this in dl 150 and gotten a good supply of small medals. Not strong enough to go highest, but expect small medal spawn rate to go up.

It was written in 2014 though, have this been nerfed since ?
Also, it should be even more juicy if it works while worshipping Yacatect thanks to her enhanced drop rate.

>>16765792
I haven't farmed ragnarok in a while, but nothing in the changelogs indicated it's been changed.
From personal experience, its a lot faster to just blitz low level dungeons if you only care about medals.

>> No.16767200

>>16766676
Even high level dungeons can be easily blitzed, I just spam teleport till I'm near the stairs and keep moving.
