So if Patchy and Marisa love books so much, Marisa even willing to steal them, how come neither seem to have any interest in Alice's Grimoire?

I'm an explosives expert.
I love working with C4 and SEMTEX.

Alice's Grimoire contains secrets so terrible any person who read what is written inside would die of laughter from reading Alice's emo poems.

Patchy has more class, she wouldn't steal it like Marisa, but she probably wouldn't turn down the chance to read it if the opportunity arose.

>> No.1658740

So then the question becomes what would need to be done to get into Alice's Grimoire and/or panties.
Kind of surprising she doesn't have a special doll carry it for her when she doesn't have it.

Shinki is inside the Grimoire

What is in the Grimoire that's so important anyway?

The book contains the lists of people that rose into power in Gensokyo. Stealing it will make somebody very angry.

Joking aside, what recorded inside is ancient magic. This makes Alice the only individual in Gensokyo that practices ancient magic.

A pity she doesn't have enough experience or skill to use it effectively. If she did, this would tip the balance between Gensokyo's three mages.

Well she was a child in MS.
She improved greatly since then. Of course i'm talking about her dolls since she didn't use the Grimoire again but who knows.

The book contains scribbling of happy little witches and magic circles.

So it seemed there's something amiss...She might be developing some kind of spell that transfers souls into dolls.

Anyway let's compare how the mages three of Gensokyo develops their magic...

Patchouli - Reads and reads, when an idea comes records it on a book.
Marisa - Acquires (note:steal) the aforementioned books or plagiarizes anything that suits her taste and improves them.
Alice - Makes, manipulates and socializes with dolls in an effort to attain magical transcendence. Uses the Grimoire as a lexicon.

There's probably more than 3 mages, considering the human population. We're looking at the 3 archmages.

>> No.1659143

I think the Grimoire of Alice is based on the Grand Grimoire (Ancient black magic book which is said to contain Lucifer's power.) maybe the book grants Alice Shinki-like powers which would explain why she was able to create her own world (The Wonderland) in MS and PCB.

It's her private Book of Shadows. Some magicians prefer to carry theirs around with them to help remember spells and rituals, but this is made partially unnecessary thanks to spellcards.

A book of shadows is a personal development. You can't just grab somebody else's and expect to cast the magic within as well as they did. This particular book of shadows is ancient, possibly an heirloom(explaining why she had such a volume of magic at such a young age(and why she clings to it all the time)) and even has origins in a different universe. This makes it an immensely powerful tome, but made only to work for Alice.

Would be an interesting read and I could always splice stuff into my own magic system, but I have no use for the book itself.

You're right, I was just about to post and totally forgot Ellen.

Anyway
>However, in Gensokyo, magical research continues to advance and learning magic is simple.
>Thus, there are more than a few young (childish) magicians in Gensokyo.
