Also, the farming was greatly simplified in favor of Dungeon Crawling.

Rune Factory 2 has a Request Board that functions as all of that.
Whenever anyone goes up in Friend or Love Points, they post a request on the board. The girls' requests are pretty much heart events.
About half of the heroines has a rival bachelor.
Generation 1 is more Harvest Moon like and less Rune Factory like. The dungeons have many blocked off areas and there are no bosses. Your main goal is to procreate.
Alicia's fortune telling shop is actually something that all Harvest Moon games need. She can tell you the location of any character in the game at that time. No need to memorize everyone's schedules.

I was expecting her to change her hairstyle from the day she married the mc, instead I'll porbably never see her eyes again. Her hot red eyes were the reason I went after her in the first place...

Thank god they decided to increase the wood gaining and added quests that rewards wood.
I still have nightmares from trying to collect 2000 wood for the house upgrade in the first game.

It's actually pretty easy if you know about before hand and prepare.
After you till the dungeons, flatten them and trunks will fill up soon.
If you do this from the very start, you are done by the mid of summer.

Of course, there is no way you can know in your 1st try that you should flatten the dungeons soon, or that you should upgrade your tools to silver and gold before you even reach lv 20, hence the nightmare.

Upgrade with the blacksmith or by using your crafting skills. Upgrade crop levels with fertilizer and a seed maker. I haven't had time to play the second one yet (I will this evening, dammit!), but I'd imagine it to be similar to the first one.
