Answer: Because his clothing, food, and housing are guaranteed.

Since he always finds a way to get by, he can afford to continue living as a hikikomori. In hindsight, living as a hikikomori was a luxury in and of itself. Without clothing, food, housing, you don't have any other choice but to work unless you're prepared to die.

Would you actually want to live as a Hiki? That sounds like a really depressing life... I work and never leave the house but i can afford things that i need.

When I moved to my parents I found it harder to carry a conversation and piece together sentences, it was really difficult to focus on anything involving work, and I barely ate

the second time i went full NEET i was prepared and forced myself to spend most of my days outside. those were the best days of my life and i wound up getting gud at photography. in this case i really did lose when I worked, since i have largely forgotten all the skills I learned and my DSLR is in danger of rusting up

Where did you live as one in? Most of my friends who go to Japan for some reason become hiki. They only go to work, come home and shut themselves in... Some who have a partner don't even work, they just get married and never leave the house.

Have a few friends who do that in China and Korea as well.

Honestly, in today's society there is so many forms of escapism readily available for free.

Want to watch anime or play video games? Read a book? Torrent it. There's an entire library of manga around the corner by just typing a few words into a search bar. Otherwise you can just hang around /jp/ all day.

And for me, that's practically all the happiness I'll ever need in my life. Real life people are disgusting.

It's as you say. I've lived my life mostly as a semi-neet and a hikki, and I find it hard to imagine me being able to go back into regular society as a functional adult.

So what's the secret to NEET life? Freeload off of parents? Government handouts? Commissions?

Just curious because I never figured out how these people got away with it. I'd go full hikki-NEET if I could, but I really don't want to freeload off my mom for the rest of my life.
