Hey /jp/

Do you think Japan is returning back to the sakoku era, where all foreigners were banned from japan?

It seems to me that they are, because within the last year:
- all foreigners now need to get fingerprinted when entering japan
- you now need to be a resident of japan in order to get a cellphone, this has never been the case before
- mixi, japan's largest social network, now bans essentially all non-japanese or people living overseas (even if they are japanese, lol) from joining
- many japanese websites are now blocking foreign IPs and you need a proxy to access them
- the rising crimerate in japan is being blamed on foreigners more and more, even though the # of crimes vs foreigner population in japan is far smaller compared to the japanese themselves.
- their new prime minister is known for his very anti-foreigner and racist comments
- other shit I can't think of off the top of my head right now

It's not just Japan that's xenophobic, it's most of the world, but some shit about Japan I've read still makes me rage pretty hard (as hard as you can rage about a country that's 6000 miles away).

- There are some institution where foreigners are outright banned, because it is believed that all foreigners have AIDS. Yep, that's right: AIDS is un-Japanese and therefore the only ones carrying it must be foreigners.
- Some hotels and shops don't service foreigners anymore; and they put up bullshit signs like that. Kinda reminds me of the days of slavery, when blacks were considered 2nd rate people and treated as such. Japan is pretty much doing the same, you are dirty niggers to them.

It's pretty much the opposite in Sweden. Being the least upset over foreigners is shunned by the government and media.

This is mostly due to the usually Socialist governments knowing that immigrants are surefire Socialist voters (not biting the hand that feeds them). And most journalists love pecking on the smallest bit of discrimination while dreaming of the red revolution that slowly edges farther away.

The average Joe is just tired of the sloppy integration efforts.

Fact: They are video games in every sense of the word, they don't even technically belong here.
