In Heracles' situation, being summoned as a Berserker, rather than getting a boost on his stats, he actually ended up weaker. Had he been summoned as anything else (but a Caster or an Assassin, since he cannot be summoned as those), he'd have been far stronger.

Gil was summoned as an Archer, and he wasn't particularly limited in his strength by that class. The Gil you see in Fate/Zero is probably the best you can get.

Now, the question would be, what would a Cúchulainn summoned by a proper Master, with a Grail War taking place in Ireland would be like?
