Who should I go for first? I would usually go for imouto first but sounds like I can't so is there a route that was slightly better than the others?

It looks like a straightforward moege so I can't imagine any serious drama happening.

>> No.16026545

>>16026525
Yeah, it's not the most enticing of descriptions.

It's very much character-driven, the characters themselves are interestingly flawed, the main guy himself is relateable (not in the self-insert sense, but in the 'oh shit, I feel that' sense), and most conflict is because of people's established personalities clashing or old history coming back to bite asses, not side bullshit tossed in out of left field.

It's also got an interesting sort of commentary on the nature of love in general, as well as on love stories (particularly eroge). Not in an obnoxious 4th wall breaking way, but in a way that mirrors what's actually happening.

Also interesting is that the progression involves having to turn down each girl in turn to get to the next one, all while time passes, the rejected girl deals with her failure, and continues to stick around in the story and be important even if not a romantic interest.

Oh and the best can't-have side heroine ever that still hurts to this day. But I dunno if that's a positive.

I am pretty biased towards it, but it hit a lot of sweet spots with me.

I don't remember this specific scene but, part of the game takes place in a VR Game.
That's basically the protagonist's own little farm in said game.
Rest of the backgrounds are fairly normal.

But I do the same thing to most childhood friends, big sisters, yamato nadeshiko, emotionlesses, crazies and about a couple hundred other archetypes; along with specific "book's cover" details like hairstyles, hair colors and body types so you are definitely not alone on that nor are you petty enough.

It was probably my favorite moege of last year. Part of that might've been due to my low expectations due to it being the first title in like 5+ years from a company I'd never heard of.
Strong voice cast filled with a lot of VAs I really like.
The pacing of the writing was nice and brisk, and didn't really drag on like most titles. Most of the climactic drama in each route was well handled and short enough that it still had some impact but not long enough to become annoying.
The art style also really appealed to me.

I am living in this town. It has so many people living here. It is surrounded by that. There are shops her. You can get this and that entertainment, but it is not really that much. I always walk down this street on my way to school. It has several houses. There are people living here. These people I don't know, but most people here do know each other, as it is a small town. My school exists for 50 year but due to declining birth-rates it recently became a co-oped school. Because of that there are a lot of girls. I kind of worry about that, as I'm a loner loser boy. Also cherry blossoms. They are falling. I should go watch that. Because it's exciting. This tells you a lot about my life. Speaking of my life, m parents are currently overseas, and I'm living alone. With my little sister that is. She also goes to this school, one year younger than me.

Who wants to bet that it will disappoint CCC fans? Why did they switch to musou game? Keep hyping this shit up type-moon but I won't fall for your waifu-baitory, nearly considering buying a vita just for this soon-to-be kusoge. The amount of servants added probably means less content overall for waifu.

TM has really fallen since G/O, at least make Tsukihime 2 before you bite the dust.

they just struck gold with the concept of making personas actual characters, and now they're just lending that while Nasu is busy not releasing mahoyo sequels. In FSN it made sense with the whole ideals vs reality theme, but now is being exploited in itself because of how many legends there are.
I'm not big on the musou concept either, but CCC was a solid story even if the gameplay was literally dogshit tier, so I guess I'll wait to see the first opinions

Camelot was definitely the best chapter by far so far, but the writing picks up in London, which is the 4th chapter.
I wouldn't say it's worth playing just for the story at this point if you don't like the gameplay though.
Especially as you'll need to max out a couple of servants to actually clear Camelot.

I've never encountered this mentality that you're talking about. Traditionalist nonviolence against women is generally done under the mentality that violence and heated environments are the realm of men... a mentality which the women of those cultures tend to share. Not only do those women not beat their husbands or do lots of shit that would give them great cause to hit them, they coddle them. The men can be gentlemen because the women are ladies. When the women break their side of this relationship, they lose their immunity, too.

The only major culture that I can think of that legitimately views women as less than a man (as compared to just different, which feminism often misrepresents as lesser) is Islam, and they have rules about how to beat your wife.

Every person that I've ever seen who were against criticizing and punishing women who do bad things are white knights who put women on a pedestal.

Let's go back and read my post again, because you clearly didn't the first time.

>Why does Japan find shitty beta males who don't know when it's time to say "no, fuck you" to a horrible person funny?

Since you appear to be stupid and possibly legally blind, I might have to spell it out for you.

>funny
>as in, the thing that a joke aspires to be

I'm fully aware that they're trying to be funny. However, just because you make a joke doesn't mean that the listener is obligated to laugh.

In a good joke, the one who receives the punchline should not be sympathetic in that particular scenario (i.e. he's stupid, an asshole, etc.), especially if it's a big, painful joke. If there's someone inflicting this joke on him, this party should be sympathetic (at least moderately justified in their behavior from a certain perspective). An alternative is that you do like the victim and don't like the perp, but it's being used as a stepping stone to build up the victim, with a good chance that the incident will be avenged later. You can also make the joke harmless enough that you could see the victim laughing about it the next day, no hard feelings. If you fail at all of these, you just have a mean spirited scenario that's not humorous in the least.

An unfortunate series of accidents where the person receiving it recovers without any serious harm is funny.
An idiot thinking that it's a good idea to drink alcohol that's on fire is funny.
A guy trying to bully an old woman and then getting his ass kicked by her cane is funny.
An innocent guy getting beaten by a cunt because she's a fucking piece of shit with anger issues is not funny. Likewise with her treating him like a rapist just because he has a dick. Or automatically assuming that he did something wrong. Or getting trapped in torturous conditions by a group of girls who really need to go to jail for a few decades. Not only do all of the cues that I'm supposed to be laughing at this shit not make it funny, it pisses me off more. If I wanted to see terrible people victimize innocent people and get away with it, I'd step outside. Fiction, humor included, is where you go to get away from that.

If this was the case I wish there would be more femdom games. But most of the time the harassment isn't sexual and occurs in the protagonist's every day life. The protagonist may be a punching bag outside of H-scenes but as soon as the H-scenes start he transforms into some sex fiend who can make the girl instantly cum 10 times in a minute.

I suppose that I should add a disclaimer: With humor, it's generally possible to cross the "not funny" line in such a ridiculous manner it swings back around to the other end and becomes funny.

The important thing here, though, is that the "SHE HIT HIM THATS SO HILARIOUS" shit is just a plain ol' regular line crossing. It lacks the sheer amount of raw shameless absurdity that defines the extreme version.

I find it curious how a title with art this good has gone under the radar though, seems like the company died afterwards as well.

I don't normally go for the whole beta/alpha male thing since it's kind of ridiculous, but I'll note that it's actually very common for Japanese women not to be interested in Japanese men because they think they're too timid and accommodating compared to Westerners.

So doormat MCs getting beaten up by girls may be less of an exaggeration than you'd think with the main different being that they actually get laid in the end.

I think a not too unimportant reason for so many protagonists to be not exactly alpha is that in that case the eroge would end in 4 hours instead of 40. Same goes for a lot of manga which use those protagonists.

As for Reminiscence it's okay, I guess. I only read it because it was related to the above. It somehow manages to feel really generic even with the weird setting and premise. The heroines are overall pretty bad and best girl has no route, apparently even with the new scenario they just released.

Hanesaki Mio's route was soo fucking GARBAGE. It's sad because Mio is actually an interesting multi layered character, that was cute in her own way without having to be uugu bug eyed anime girl, they RUINED her by removing her glases and giving her contacts and a new look half way through the route. I loved her nerdy look, that is why I bought the fucking game on the ps3, again warning me never to buy console versions of vns for console exclusive content.

Soo many loose strings left untied up. The way they hinted that she was child actor/model, the photos left behind at her desk which was never mentioned again. Mio's connection to potpourri, flowers and flower meaning was just dropped half way and never expanded on.

The scene in the library where Kouno starts feeling nostalgia felt forced because the route was sooo short, artificially elongated by the fact that you had to play soo many of the forced events of the main story in between Mio scenes. The fact that Mio never interacts with anyone but Kouno while every other girl has friends and group events really isolates her and reinforces that she was just half assed tacked on character just so the ps3 version could have exclusive content. The confession was cute but it was soo forced and rushed, it was well done but it needed more time to develop and it need more doki doki scenes to build up to that moment.

Over all I loved it when I was reading it, I had a lot of fun reading the route. However, in retrospect it was rushed garbage I really expected more from Aquaplus even for a tacked on route. I really liked Mio, she deserved better, a really good character and a potentially good route that suffered from obvious production time limit issues. The story was all over the place and it abruptly ended in a confession initiated by the girl, a girl built up to be secretive about her true feelings, it felt very out of character.

Same goes for fights. All these "his advantage in altitude and acceleration provided him ultimate advantage and for the most part decided the outcome" aren't hard to understand, and everything is repeated so many times and in such little details that even complete novice could easily get it.

Well I found a nukige with a dude that discovered his mother is a prostitute. It's not what I was looking for but it was ok I guess. I was looking for a guy that finds out his mother's a prostitute then pays for her.

What I got instead was a dude that finds out his mother is a high class prostitute and her uhhh, owner? I think you call them a madam, offers him his mother if he'll become her client.

The reason is simple, she's a popular whore at a high class brothel, in addition to fucking men for money she puts on a show daily. They want to sell tickets to her show, 'Impregnation by her son'. So people show up every day to watch you fuck your mother while she's forced to take ovulation medication. Then each week she takes a pregnancy test in front of the audience to see if you've succeeded to great excitement by the dudes that pay to watch.

So it's far less 'I want to pay for tricks with mother' and more 'rape mom by 3rd party'. It was still ok I guess.

Maybe someone else will enjoy it. Whatever bloats your goat.

If you are new, lemme give you some tips based on my experience.

-As long as you consider yourself new, you may want to stay a bit away from the "bigger" and more popular works, as those are usually popular for some reason. Abuse your own "ignorance" and play some minor stuff first. Check vndb. Look at images, character art and whatnot, find something you like, maybe filter after some fetish of yours or whatever.
To give an example. If you want a trap-protagonist VN, it's a good idea to just play something by Ensemble which most consider not too good, while leaving something like Ruitomo for later which many consider quite worth it even if one isn't into trap protagonist games. Not like you are guaranteed to like the latter or later on dislike Ensemble games.. but yeah.
It won't take long till you are sick of very common eroge issues. I'd argue maybe 2 or 3 works at most. Could be just 1 or it's already to late as well, as you do have some experience already from English stuff.

-Learn to skim/skip. If you want to get more into this medium it's important to know when to draw the line and that it's not always important to savor ALL the text.
Downright skipping stuff is mostly relevant for gameplay hybrids, who often use separate character events along the maingame instead of routes. Which may give gameplay boni, so just "not doing that" doesn't work too well, even if you dislike a character. In normal eroge you just don't play a route you don't want to. If it's enforced, there's usually a reason and skipping may be bad, too.
Skimming however is important no matter what. Parts you enjoy less. Incredibly forced and obvious drama-parts or battles where you know the result anyway and it feels too dumb/obvious. The twentieth long-winded description of how the daily lunch is arranged. Stuff like that. Don't need to do that in all works, but there are still some really enjoyable works out there as long as you know "how" to read it. (multiple authors are a big thing in eroge, as is padding)

Other than that, have fun. The most important thing.

Finished Fortissimo (1). A pleasant surprise. Characters carry it for the most part, it has a few nice moral dilemmas and grey plot in several ways. Great music and voice-acting as well. I also liked how it was a battle royale where all fights were because the characters wanted to. The initial "force into the battle royale" setting was there, but there was no further blackmail, mindwashing, misunderstandings or whatever to pit characters against each other, just different interests and trying the best they can do in their situation. Quite nice.

There are weaknesses though.
-Some characters. Most are nice, and Momoji is an incredible character in several ways, but some are surprisingly flat and/or irrelevant. Miki serves no role at all, while Sakura (the one in front of the cover) and Sayuki are just one-dimensional and flat. Really weird given that they are supposed to be main-heroines. In comparison to the multi-layered Momiji and even many side-characters having way better setup, struggles and "growth", it's just weird.
-Battles are just deus ex machina on perma-repeat. Great music, but not exactly great battle-design.

The newest version also has some boni, most importantly a "Sayuki" and a "Momiji" route. Both are utter shit though and far removed from the quality of the main-story. Sayuki's route is a rushed mess with most battles being obvious as you read the main-story and KNOW one of the participants has god-mode that can only be defeated by ONE THING. It also introduces an interesting character, just to not do ANYTHING with her, nor explain anything. Momiji's route killed the "never pitted characters against each other for shit reasons like mindcontrol" and brought one character back it really shouldn't have, in an incredibly dumb way too. Both end with a major deus-ex-machina, that's some of the most retarded shit you can imagine.
I'll just assume someone else wrote this shit. Ignore and move on.

That said I'm so confused who the main-heroine is now supposed to be. The "all-clear" cg features Sakura, but story-wise it's so not her... not that I'd mind that. Momiji is more interesting in literally all aspects, Sakura'd first need to become an actual character to compare. Maybe in the sequel.

I thought D&D was pretty entertaining having finished it just the other day. It's definitely more of a comedy-based game and it has a vibe similar to the この素晴らしい世界に祝福を! series in that the focus is on the fun of the adventure rather than the grand climax/conclusion of everything.
If you want to read a story about a silly group of people going through an equally silly fantasy dungeon then I think you'd enjoy it. If you're looking for a more grandiose "save the world"-type story with lots of plot I'd look elsewhere.

Man, Nasu's writing is kinda weird. It combines lack of context with a weird/roundabout way of describing plus the actual situation wise text. It's kinda fun but also annoying af.

I personally prefer the uninstallers. It's a shame that a lot of companies tend to get lazy and use the same ones, but it's a real treat when they do something special.

HoshiOri isn't bad but when you have a lot of experience with romance games of its type it's really not that remarkable.
