So is it

FUCK YOU LEATHERHEAD

or

FUCK YOU LEATHERMAN?

I don't know why so many people hear it as leatherman when no matter how many fucking times I listen trying to see if I can hear it I only ever hear leatherhead.

There's no way it's not "leatherhead." It makes sense. Adding -head to the end of things was already pretty common way to call someone a maniac about something, like 'gearhead'. No one calls someone ___man unless you're playing Megaman or reading comics. Unfortunately, I've seen 'leatherman' used so much that I say them interchangeably now.

Also, you can hear the term used in The Mask. Where else have you ever heard someone say "leatherman"?

I've always thought it was leatherhead, just because of that's how the phrase is usually used so I just associated it with being what was said.

The more I listen to that scene the less i'm sure, I hear leatherman now that I listen closely. It bothers me.

It's leatherman. I don't care if you don't think it makes sense. Know what else doesn't make sense? Leather clubs. No such thing as leather clubs but that's what he says. He also calls him a jabroni even tho neither are pro wrestlers. Nothing about it makes sense. It's leatherman

"Leather-(garbled)-ed"
Leatherman is a tool, which actully makes it more funny calling the guy that, but it's not what he said. It's most logical (leatherhead being used colloquially) and while even unclear, the audio suggests "leatherhead".
