So at my university, we have a pretty big mtg group playing games during our breaks. These 3 Japanese overseas students joined in and they were using Japanese cards. That's cool we all thought since we know what the cards were and most of us are weeaboo enough to read some Japanese. But my problem with them is why the fuck do Japanese people like using control decks so fucking much. Between both of the japs, they have 12 decks total and at least 9 are control decks. Do Japanese people have a control fetish or something?

are... are you retarded?

Control decks are a plague upon M:TG wherever you go. it has been a staple of the game to make your deck as fun to play as doing taxes and making the other guy scoop in frustration.

go to any FNM and you'll see retards with 100 dollar control decks.

>> No.1594285

control decks are great for games with a bunch of people. It's quite rare for a control deck to be weak against another deck, or to NOT be very much of a threat in 3+ person games.

but I still prefer the white weenie decks....they are FUN as hell.

>>1594266

The other guy doesn't have a deck. He just watches and bitches at people for drawing before their untap step.

>> No.1594298

I fucking hate control decks. I hate them because everyone makes one that is along the same lines. Mono-blue counter, Blue-black, blue-white or some shit like that.

>> No.1594312

>>1594298
I hate them because they are the answer to every type of deck out there. Aggro? Control. Burn? Control. Weenie? Control. Control? Control.

the most powerfull cards in the game are still 2 untapped islands.

>> No.1594336

Control decks are awesome.

At last the nerd guy can torture someone else.

>> No.1594373

Control decks cause so much nerd rage. Especially if it's a creature destroying control deck versus a counter control deck and each deck only has 3 creatures for win conditions. You see the frustration and rage billow out.

Hey fa/tg/uys.

We love you but there is a board for these threads.

starlight breaker should be 20 colorless and 3 of each mana

it'd be hot.

Oh man don't remind me of that card. Blue white control decks stacked with cspells and cancels. Then add 4 Wraths in there. Fucking gay as shit.

Somewhere behind that beam is Aoko.

>> No.1594645

I stopped playing mtg probably 5 years ago, too lazy to keep up with the rules, but starlight breaker should take everything after destroying it. you know, befriending, etc

>> No.1594652

>>1594624
Starlight Breaker there is horribly overpriced for its effect. Board wipes that destroy both you and your opponents everything, and in white to boot, should only be priced at 8 mana, which is double a WoG.

Enchanted mask or True believe would counter this.

the card shown destroys only target player's cards, not all players

Hasn't magic gotten to the point where most tourny decks end up being control? I can only think of draft matches or something where creature decks are used.

>> No.1594727

>>1594665
hmm. your right. I forgot the first rule of magic. READ THE FUCKING CARDS. hehe.

that said, its still super overcosted at 14 mana. at most it should be 10 total with 4 white mana. thats already pidgeonholeing the card pretty bad as a win condition as it will likely never see play. it'd probably be in the same class as Plague Wind. Powerful but unplayable.

>> No.1594733

>>1594652
Oh yeah, this was another one of the things that ruined MtG.
Fucking retarded design decisions.

>> No.1594764

>>1594708
No. States just happened about a week ago and most of the top8s were full of aggro. Kithkin or white weenie placed top 1 or 2 in most of those top 8s.

>> No.1594766

>>1594733
what do you mean, good sir?

Its a pretty known fact that cards that are too expensive to cast don't get played in any format. 3 - 5 mana seems to be the limit. why would they bother printing cards that are priced higher than that unless they had some sort of dramatic effect?

>> No.1594780

>>1594766
You just described exactly what I mean.
