Russia still a mighty bear? Interesting, I don't look to much up on them.

I should learn Spanish and Russian eventually. Spanish first since I have a lot of Spanish speaking peeps around me. For Arabic, I don't have a lot of refugees coming to my area and most needs of Arabic will be with big dogs. So that's not too important.

I started at the beginning of this month. I'm just going through 2k right now and have gone through Tae Kim's grammar guide about twice now. I suppose I should just start reading simple works soon to get used to recognizing grammar on my own but not sure if it's too early.

I leave Sisyphus at the foot of the mountain. One always finds one's burden again. But Sisyphus teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks. He too concludes that all is well. This universe henceforth without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile. Each atom of that stone, each mineral flake of that night-filled mountain, in itself, forms a world. The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.

What a waste of time, it's more dead than Welsh, and Welsh is useless, I'm Welsh and I see no reason to learn it unless I want to impress fat English girls who always want to know if you speak Welsh. I wish English people stopped asking.

Really well. I recommend taking an actual class somewhere if you can, having a native speaker work through it with you really helps. I'm taking it in college currently and I'm finding it much easier than when I was trying to learn by myself.
If you don't have the time or resources though, I seriously reccomend Genki. It's a great text/work book

I'm also taking a class at (one of) my local community college(s). Managed to get through Hiragana in just 2 weeks, and currently doing a variety of vocabulary with Katakana on the side.

A good teacher will help you speed through learning the language, provided you properly study, etc.

Don't let that shit fucking stop you. I graduated from my university with a degree in Japanese (which we won't really talk about how not particularly useful that is) and the weebs mostly only last through the first year. After that it starts to clear up immensely because they seem to think that's all they need to know and go off to study their anime on their own time.

I'm at over 10 years of study now, translate for a living and for my own amusement. Honestly I don't remember not being able to speak it at this point. I mean I know I couldn't before college, but it's just a part of me now.

>> No.15928183

My class really isn't terrible. Like the other op said, it's 75% international students taking it because they thought it would be an easy credit (spoiler alert, it isn't). There's maybe 5-8 people in the whole class who actually care enough to put in the effort, and from the looks of it they're all weebs, myself included. However, this is a first year class so we'll see how it goes.
My teacher is amazingly patient for how retarded some of my classmates are. I can't wait to take her higher level classes

Damn it, I know the next thing I need to do is drop studying with cards that have English as the responses, and move on to full Japanese for questions and answers, but after searching 語彙 and 文法 I'm not finding a lot of anything useful there. Aren't there apps which the natives use to build vocab?
