Why would he?
I doubt he knows half of the cast, and the half that he does is just "another customer" to him.
The only exceptions that come to mind are Reimu and Marisa, who are more like little sisters to him; and Yukari, who is his benefactor.

In fact, every other girls probably see him as "that weird antique-shop owner".

There's also the fact that Gensokyo isn't exactly void of male, but if you have to make this thread, you probably didn't know.

Because he's an unsociable know-it-all who avoids gatherings, values items over relationships, to the point of basically grave robbing, lords his half-assed knowledge over all, and desires to stay above the fray, all told likely coming across as thinking he's better than everyone.

Probably isn't too appealing to anyone who knows him, even among Gensokyo's other eccentrics, leaving him with not too many contacts and close relationships.

To be honest he sounds like he'd fit in here.

Why is he so hot? He has a really exotic appeal like he's straight out of an otome game, so I understand why he would be popular with girls.

In my opinion, he'd be a perfect fit for a lot of girls like Sakuya, Keine, and Marisa.

Shipping Kourin is probably one of the most shitty thing any secondaries can do; especially since they practically make him a self-insert, stripping him of his "weird antique shop owner" character.

This is partially why I hated Kourin when I first got into the series. Though I warmed up to him after a while.

I know that much, and I do try to make it sound general, but I guess the subject matter from before was Kourin so I can see how that can be misinterpreted.

That being the case, my specific problem with Kourin is that most bastardization paints him as a skirt-chasing pervert (in a non-comedic way), and those kind of characters rub me the wrong way.
