The world building is pretty nice, hard to find a japanese series with small but highly significant interconnections between their different works.
But Nasu is lazy and Takeuchi's reality marble keeps expanding so that he can draw more Saber to the detriment of any sort of innovation.

Outside of CCC and Tsukihime they're pretty bad. Mahoyo had nice parts, but was way too short and didn't really have too much going on outside of some set pieces and minor character moments. The best part of the whole bit was Aoko's development, and she's a great character. It's sad that they're neglecting their smaller more interesting franchises in order to peddle more Fate shit.

Fate/stay night is quite possibly one of the most overrated visual novels.

Read F/S N, (in english that is) it was pretty ok. Illya obviously best girl.
It loks like the whole Fate franchise has been milked to the death, came back to life three days later and was milked to the death again.
Never really touched any other part of Typemoon, though I hope someone makes a Tsukihime anime one day.
Prisma Illya is good fun, though obviously just a money grab.

All in all I have no idea why they got as big as they did, or how they keep staying popular, but it is an impressive money machine nonetheless.

Not really. Sure, you'll understand a few things faster, but Extra is so bad I really don't recommend it. I really didn't enjoy it.

BUT if you do want to play it, by god, do it on a emulator. The fast forward function is basically a necessity. Ditto for CCC, which is also plagued by that horrible combat system.

Did a good job at copying Kizuato's plot and characters.
Elaborated on it and created their own universe, so as to not seem a complete ripoff.
Lazy, sporadic releases. Maximum jewpanese going on.
Started new franchise based on the previous one. Kickass characters and semi-original plot.
Whore the shit out it until said characters are now unrecognizable.

Somehow still lose to money grab mobages like Granblue Fantasy anyway.

Personally I'm a big fan of most nasuverse works. Fate/Stay Night is my favourite VN ever, and Tsukihime is arguably second. Big fan of Prisma Illya too. The fandiscs (F/HA and KT) were fun but considerably less good than the main VNs. Haven't read mahoyo yet. Don't really care for all the assorted LNs (other than F/Z, which was good).

Lately they've been churning out a lot of stuff that's just blatantly milking Fate for money, which is pretty disappointing. Takeuchi has forgotten how to draw faces, all he does nowadays is trace pictures of Saber.

I think a lot of the people who militantly hate Type-Moon on the internet are just edgy contrarians who'll hate everything that's popular.

FSN the VN is good, Fate Zero the anime is great, Tsukihime the VN and most of the FSN animes were underwhelming.
And that's all I've touched. Type-Moon has some good stuff in it, good girls and neat ideas, but as a universe it's practically impenetrable.

Seem they opened their licences to any artists and writers, which lead to some nice stuff: (Case file, strange fake) and the worst (Apocrypha, the 3/4 of Fate/GO)

People hate how F/SN is milked but I argue that the principle of fights between historical figures and the care taken for the setting coming along is simply a solid and fertil ground to many works. It would be a shame to leave it there.
