How to debuff:
To debuff the E3 preboss and enemy air raids, S rank nodes A and D and receive zero damage against an enemy air raid once each.
To debuff the E4 boss, S rank any 4 of nodes C, D, H, I and K once each. S ranking all 5 nodes will not result in further debuff.
If you hear the quest completion jingle when you return to base after a sortie, it means the debuff is successful. While the E4 debuff is active, the boss will have a different voice line on encounter. The debuff will not reset for the rest of the event, even if you change difficulty levels.

News:
-The Summer 2016 event is a 4 map event based on the Naval Battle off Malaya titled "2nd Naval Battle off Malaya", and scheduled to end on August 31.
-Each map is based on an operation, with E3 being based on the eponymous operation and E4, Battle of Straits of Malacca, being an expansion operation.
-Enemy bosses SS Hime, BB Hime, Harbour Hime and CA Hime have a special summer form this event.
-4 ships have been implemented for this event: drops I-26 and Aquila, E2 reward Minazuki and E4 reward Warspite.
-7 new pieces of equipment have been implemented for this event: T3 Fighter Hien M1D, T1 Land Attacker M34, Ginga, Re.2001 G Kai, Re.2005 Kai, 38.1cm Mk.I Twin Gun, and QF 2-pounder Octuple Pom-pom gun.
-A piece of window furniture is available from clearing E3 for any difficulty.
-Land-based squadrons have been rebalanced for this event. Non-recon plane slot counts have been increased from 12 to 18. Land-based aerial support range is now determined by the plane with the lowest range (adding a flying boat adds +3 to the range), and fatigue recovers faster in "Standby" and "Rest" modes than they did in spring. Air defence mode is also now more effective.
-You can now toggle the voice lines of Quest/Event Girl (Ooyodo) on/off in the volume settings.
-New registrations, which have been halted to stabilise the servers during the first few days of the event, will resume today at 17:30 JST, along with the opening of a new server.
-30 kanmusu have received new Midsummer voice lines, adding to the already implemented Midsummer lines and overlapping with the Early Summer lines.
-Seasonal sprites for summer, including new swimsuit seasonal sprites for Mamiya, Irako, Kazagumo, Okinami, Isuzu, Fusou, Yamashiro, Yamato, Haruna, Mikuma, Taigei/Ryuuhou, Ooyodo and Libeccio, fixed swimsuit seasonal sprites for Oboro and Akebono, and a seasonal sprite for Mizuho with iced red beans have been implemented.
-A nationwide collaboration with a convenience store with an autumn festival motif is scheduled for autumn. "That type" of aircraft and a new system will also finally be introduced in autumn or later, as will a new ship that will drop in normal maps.

At last check API was locked after ~10 minutes or so. However for some reason it now allows for ONE refresh after it expires so I don't know when it expires now. I'm only certain the grace period is still at least around 10 minutes.

Though I do know that you won't get catbombs any more often than playing on browser as long as you don't refresh.

I don't know whether should I applaud Tanaka for this move as it will definitely pad the length of this game. On the other hand, the ROI seems ridiculously low as using barrels will not reduce the odds of your fleet fucking around; it just means they will fuck around more effectively than usual. When that happens, the odds are still not in your favour. I don't really want barrels to be a P2W item, so I am glad that at least Tanaka is allowing us to get it through some form of grind (very much like screws) but the methods seem ridiculous. By the way, Hayasui's drop rate is 0.08% from 6-4 boss, and it's apparently an S-rank drop too (then again, 2900+ sample size is small).

While it is true that you can still win without barrels, just remember, Hayasui is a drop now which means her love juice will be a factor like how upgrading equipments are now.

That said, at the end of the day, it still depend on the roll of your dice. Bad rolls will always triumph any kind of preparations and good rolls can validate whatever poor preparations the player has. Keep on rolling /jp/.

If you think that one node isn't important enough, you don't have to use midget sub. Thing is, Abukuma is by far the best choice in the whole game for luck boosting, so it's more likely that she'll get the M. If they aren't boosted, it isn't much different. Abukuma has higher base luck which results in ~6% proc rate difference, offsetting the lower damage.

Jintsuu with three torps goes over the cap so the actual difference won't be as big as you suggest. Raw damage isn't everything. You have to use your brain in this game. Abukuma doesn't hit as strong but she hits more often. That also means more crits. I wouldn't be surprised if Abukuma did more damage on average when you consider all attempts and not just a single lucky run.

The whole reputation of Echelon comes from when 5-3 was added and people were desperate to have any way to reliably get to the boss besides using Iona.. After trying lots of methods it was reported that using echelon increased evasion chance in night battles.

Remember, nowadays we've gotten so far into the power creep with so many high evasion K2, night battle equips, etc. that the difference bettwen echelon and other formations has become small, but back then when 5-3 was added nothing like that existed so the difference was quite noticable.

Jack of all trades for me. Tokyo Express pretty much ensures three of those resources. Even with steel maxed out, it replenishes fuel and ammo pretty well. Ex.5 is the king for fuel and ammo though. Baux replenish through overnight expedition as I don't use it that much and Ex.2 all day everyday, bucket is always a priority. That said, it's highly dependent on your daily routine, if you're a NEET or a person who can remember and afford the time to refresh every expedition, go ahead and do those short expeditions.

Right, I just checked.

Main: CV/Kongou/Haruna/CV/CV/Mogami
Escort: Mikuma/Fubuki/Akizuki/Kinu/Choukai/Kirishima

FCF was on a CV. The three CVs I used was Taihou and cranes but you don't seem to have Taihou.
I probably went AS at the Wo node just like you did, but I went all blues.
Mogami had 2 guns + recon + seaplane fighter in largest slot.
Mikuma, Akizuki and Choukai had the same setup as your Suzuya, Hatsuzuki and Choukai respectively.
Fubuki and Kinu both had 2 guns + WG42 each. Kinu can be swapped with Yura.
All the BBs had recon + AP shell.

Come to think of it, it might not be the most optimal setup, but it worked for me. I rarely had problems with the Wo node, and only started having problems with the preboss when I stopped sending a landbase to it and focused everything on the boss. I only sank the boss once while chipping due to sending only one landbase to it, but when I sent 2 for last kill, I perfect S'd it with Mikuma dealing the final blow.

Stuff 2 skilled T21s and one T53 Iwamoto (all double chevroned) in one land base. This gives 194 fighter power, so make sure to upgrade at least one of them beforehand so it's 195+. Set only this base to air defence (doesn't matter what you set the rest to), then sortie to E2, E3 or E4 and hope you encounter the pattern without the harbour hime. If you do encounter the pattern with a harbour hime, go back home, replenish the planes and start over.

If you encounter them, note that 195 fighter power is required to get AS:
-If you get AS, that means stars are counted.
-If you don't get AS, that means you only got parity, and so stars aren't counted.

I took out torp cut-in from Ayanami for another chance at AACI, gave my CVs radars out of desperation because the fucking air nodes have been doing taiha on my ships if I even manage to pass the double AssHime yasen node.

I have used 20k fuel and can't even reach boss anymore. Someone will get taiha'd at yasen node or the air nodes. Usually Abukuma, Myoukou, Taihou. Even aACI can't seem to stop the taiha from air nodes. I'm near the lest vestiges of sanity.
