>trying to watch Tanao's stream while working on a different window
>it keeps breaking down
>it's giving me 180p video now
I guess I can check this instead:
Checked it, and I have to say, my translation is more on point. I know it's a cuntish thing to say, but you know I'm a cunt.
Say, for example, one of the most important lines:
>生きる せい が 感じられない
GEES translated it as
>I can't tell if you're alive or not
whereas I translated it as... lemme see...
>I can't feel any life in you
Literally, 生きる means to live, せい means nature or property of the thing mentioned before, が denotes a possessive adjective, 感じ means to feel and, together with the rest, 感じられない means "I can't feel". So the most accurate translation is obvious.
Then there's plain wrong translations. For example, Muramoto says
Jisho gives http://jisho.org/search?utf8=覚める , which provides a number of meanings. In this context, it's "to be disillusioned"
I translated it as
>It's just so cold!
though a more proper translation would've been somewhere along the lines of
>It looks like you're disillusioned!
GEES, on the other hand, translated it as
>She seems more relaxed now
We were both off, don't get me wrong. But mine was more on point (it was a quick translation without using the dictionary, so I just went with my ears and I thought it was a conjugation of 寒い).
GEES' translation is filled with many more errors. Like "when I open my eyes" instead of "my pupils are always wide" soon after the previous one. Plus nuances like GEES saying how "[her] parents could be hurt by those words" while I (properly) translated it as "[she] think they've also been hurt by it".
What's the most unforgivable though, as >>15711557 pointed out, was how he translated "じゃあそうやないか?", which literally means "Well, isn't it true then?" with "Guess I was wrong!" Specially when the line was right fucking there in the screen.
THAT SAID, GEES is superior to my translation in one single way: completion (even if it's wrong as fuck). Because I was translating a 3.9MB webm ( >>>/wsg/1247428 ) I had made and from which I had cut a fuckton of stuff for it to fit on 4chan, I can see how you >>15711435 would think the dynamic is different. Muramoto IS trying to make her feel better for a while between the two points I cut. I guess my version is a bit too mean, seeing as how I cut off the parts where he's trying to make her smile and shit. Though I did summarize it at the end of my own translation >>15699618
tl;dr: me right, GEES wrong.
