What's the farming part of the game from 35:00? Is it a minigame, separate game mode? Loli wheat farming simulator sounds like everything I've ever wanted.

I don't think it's deplorable if someone wants a larger audience to enjoy his work. I can understand wanting to be in direct contact with the fans, though. There should be something like bandcamp/soundcloud, but for doujin(shi).

>> No.15672189

It's not really elitism. It's just
Doujin game: I like (work) > I want to make a game about it > I want to share it with fans of (work) at the otaku convention. OR I want to make a game > I want to share it with others at the otaku convention.

As opposed to: My games are really popular I bet I could make lots of money from this.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to become professional game makers, but it's different from wanting to make doujin games and comes with all the baggage that quasi-legal games don't have to worry about. If ZUN made Touhou into a professional series years ago for instance, Touhou fan games would be beyond gone.

People who do things for themselves than for the community don't really produce anything that propagates the community.

Besides that, there's other things like people not wanting their game about naked lolis who fight zombies or whatever becoming widespread known and then investigated by busybodies from overseas.

...Although going on that, I know ero games get released at comiket, but they're kind of hard to find online. The obviously aren't in those collection videos but how do you find out about them to go buy them? Are they in the catalog itself? Are they grouped in some specific area?

No, this is not what I meant.
I don't think this is a binary issue. You can enjoy sharing your vision of a certain franchise with others while at the same time making money.
By releasing it to a (geographically) confined audience, and there only, it becomes very hard for others outside its confines to partake in that vision.

I understand that this is a cultural issue. I'd never consider setting up participation barriers for others if I could help it, creative work is a means of communications, and I enjoy talking with others about the things I love!

>If ZUN made Touhou into a professional series years ago for instance, Touhou fan games would be beyond gone.

ZUN could probably make touhou into a commercial series while still keeping the doujin license exception as it exists now, but he's by far an exception.

Most Japanese rights holders are copyright absolutists. The most obvious example in recent years is how kancolle doujin games are forbidden because DMM thinks it would take away from their releases.

>> No.15672649

>>15672347
>You can enjoy sharing your vision of a certain franchise with others while at the same time making money.
I wasn't going to respond to this, but you know if you reach too far using characters from some other IP, you'll get into trouble right? I mean it's the same thing I said in >>15672554, but yeah.

Doujin works that aren't original creations have to stay in the shadows so to speak. Touhou, being a doujin series to begin with, provides a lot of leniency you wouldn't get from someone with a publisher that has lawyers that love to shut potential copyright violators down.

It's fine if you want your indie game to reach a large audience, but that's not how doujin works, and probably is the reason it doesn't exist in the west: People wouldn't be able to keep it a nerd thing. They'd blow it up and get conventions raided for copyright violations and making games about illicit subject matter.

>> No.15672711

>>15672554
Some companies ban fangames. Others don't. Type Moon isn't a doujin company anymore, but people still make F/SN fangames, because the company is okay with it. What "most Japanese rights holders" do doesn't matter because most Japanese rights holders aren't ZUN.

If ZUN signed away the rights to the series he might have a problem but he wouldn't do that in any case.

I'd buy the games without a doubt if they would just localize them for PC. The games were on PC to begin with either way so I am kind of frustrated they're just being localized on the PS4 and the PSV.
The whole thing about having to pay for PS+ in order for any kind of online play really killed absolutely all my interest outright in ever getting a PS4. The PSV is alright though I guess, but the memory cards are overpriced as fuck, and I'd need the Vita TV thing to play on my HD monitor either way, and they even discontinued the sales of those.

Sony used to be so great. What the fuck happened? Though I mostly wonder why the games aren't being localized for PC.

Here's what I was talking about:

It's called (for now) the Charger. Hold jump and use the d-pad to fly up/down/left/right in the current 2D 'xz' plane, otherwise the you move in the 'xy' plane.

Since it's only a demo we won't know if it will be in the final game or not.

I'm really asking those who have done mutiple comikets as they should know the trend when the dates are announced. And there's no way I'm going to wing it, I live on the east coast it'll cost me ~$1300 just to fly shitty coach. I've seen the summer comiket happen on the 2nd Friday and the 3rd without any discernible favor to either, and there's no way I'm going to stay an extra 4 days just to cover both in 2017, on top of the added hotel and per diem cost I'd have to get another JP pass which is ~$400 alone. I hope this is the right place to post this, as I didn't want to shit up the board with my own thread.

When one downloads a game from nyaa or Mikokon, how do you go about installing/playing it, if it's one of those ones with a .iso?

I assume that you just install a virtual CD drive program and mount it with that and it should be fine, but is there anything in particular I need to take care of such as locale? Is there any particular virtual CD software you'd recommend? (I use Win 7)

For example, something like this http://bbs.mikocon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=19524

I use daemon tools, but I think I have an old version when their free version was competent by its own or something, either way anything you can find should be good, at worst if you have a spare CD just burn and run it. I switched to Japanese locale since forever since there were no downsides about that for me so I don't know if that influences installation, I think some games do and some don't, if anything goes wrong you should change locale first I guess.

As far as I remember, for some reason, Windows only supports different locales as fallback option, and only one of them.

Winny and share are both compromised and unsafe iirc, don't run those outside of a VM. The programs are effectively abandoned as both their authors have been arrested but the networks haven't gone down entirely.

Perfect dark is still chugging along, even though its anonymity feature (a kind of onion routing) got cracked by the police a while back. They regularly make a few rounds of uploader arrests based on that.

Some claim only the messaging functions have been de-anonymized but some of the arrests don't seem to support that so who knows. Combined with PD being closed source it makes its security quite suspect, so run that in a VM as well.

PD's author is still around and only distributes updates via darknet, but there have been no significant improvements in years. The PD network is still the best place to find anime raws and such afaik.

I'll try doing that stuff later since I'm at work right now but essentially when I update it to the 1.00 version my game's launcher file disappears and I can't run it.

Anyone else playing Witch Ring Meister? I'm having trouble understanding what to do.

Of course not. This is the thread for game pirates, not game buyers.

I've bought a handful of doujin games.

Yes, but it's not like everyone here did. This is a thread for the discussion(uploading) of games from comiket. It's a little unreasonable to expect to have conversation if you're the only one with a copy of (game).

It doesn't mean you can't discuss it though, but it does mean you should probably make a thread for (game) and see if people come to it.

or just post a question here to see if anyone else got it. don't make a big deal out of it

I don't think making a thread to discuss a game you're playing and see if others are playing is making a big deal out of it. Although if you make it to ask for help, it'll probably get deleted for being a request or something.

no I mean this discussion is making it a big deal, he just asked if anyone else has the game, no one did so no answer. just leave it at that.

Did tasofro become too cool for smaller games?

They can't top Patchcon and Grief Syndrome anyway.
Just play Shoot Shoot Nitori Golden again. That's from last comiket and new enough.

To be completely honest. If you have a printer, there is no reason it shouldn't also double as a fax machine.

how 2 get all these games

>> No.15867570

-Buy from some Japanese online store that sells doujin games
-Use a service service that buys stuff for you and ships overseas
-Infiltrate Chinese piracy sites and get emule links from them
-Wait for them to go on steam in 5 years
