Sup, /jp/. I've never posted here before, but I've recently become interested in checking out visual novels. I asked /a/ about what would be a good one to start out with; they made some recommendations, but also informed me (with varying degrees of politeness or lack thereof) that VN discussion goes here.

So. What's a visual novel with a good plot and a decent English translation I could play (read? I don't know which is the appropriate verb here), and where is a good place to find them online?

Pic unrelated.

>> No.1556268

Fate/Stay night and Tsukihime.

rest are shit.

>> No.1556271

planetarian

google.com

>> No.1556273

Actually, pic related.

>> No.1556274

Start with something short. I recommend Narcissu.

narcissu.insani.org

Planetarian is fine too, but you'll have to find a torrent yourself.

>> No.1556276

that one where you're like, a dude, and he had sex with chicks and stuff happens. idk what it's called though.

>> No.1556287

Planetarian is the only good VN. Read the whole thing in one go, alone.

>> No.1556282

Fate/Stay Night or Tsukihime.

Legendary heroes or lolvampires.

Your choice.

We're still deciding on what's a proper verb for Visual Novels.

Don't you worry, though. At the moment, our linguistic experts are preparing to fight to the death in order to find out who is correct.

Is it customary to read VNs with other people?

Everyone that didn't recommend Ever17 is a fag.

shii.org/translate has tons, though not all of them are good

I recommend True Remembrance

Ever17 is fucking long and slow to start. It's not reasonable to recommend it to a beginner.

>> No.1556322

OP here, thanks for the recommendations. I've heard good things about Fate/Stay night (or at least seen a shitton of references to it), so I think I'll check it out.
