Should I take Japanese in Uni? I'd learn basic spoken and written discourse skills, and its open to students with no prior experience.
I'm only interested because doing an exchange at Osaka university is a possibility. Though they have an English engineering program there.
Is it worth it? I don't want to be labelled as a web and hang out with dirty white weeaboos though.

Please help /jp/, I'm sure many of you have done something similar.

You're probably asking the wrong crowd then.

Follow your dream anon, I don't know where you live, but where I do a year of non-English language is required for graduation anyway. Might as well take one you are interested in,

I studied Japanese in Uni. It was an okay experience but I don't really like learning languages. I never talked with my classmates though because they were mostly Chinese and stayed in their clique. Just do it if you want some guided help with beginner Japanese and don't talk to anyone if they're spergs.

It's ok, you are already one of them.

It's a huge waste of time. It moves at a snails pace, and you can get much quicker progress studying on your own. If you need it to fill some sort of elective requirement, and the only other choices are bullshit classes like 16th century African art, then go for it I guess, but other than that I would not bother.

Thanks. Maybe I'll just try learning by myself if I feel like it.

Canada. Its not required and I've been told language courses are hard. Might just do a year abroad at Osaka in the English program

>>15467691
Thanks as well. Yeah good thing there are lots of resources online.

How about the year abroad at Osaka part? How does it sound? They have a program that is English language classes for engineering. I wonder if it's worth it.

Do it. Get that Jap pussy.

I did it and it went way too fast for me and the professor was an asshole who would openly mock and shame students. The girl who sat next to me ended up crying and running out of the classroom and the professor continued to make fun of her. But that was just a bad professor. We used the "Genki" textbook and it was alright and I feel like I learned at least the basics of the language.

As much as I would like that, I don't expect there to be many qt Jap grills.

Only ugly beta whites and weeaboos chinks.

I'll get Jap pussy if I do the year abroad, this would just be training for that.

Study aboard programs are a waste of time. You should be aiming to graduate as soon as possible.

Why? They do not take an extra year to complete your program.
It's supposed to be integrated perfectly with my four year program, with the same courses and everything.

If you have more experience with it, please let me know.
My sister did it in the UK for her whole third year and it went well for her.

Most four year programs can actually be completed in 3.5 or 3 years.

It's engineering, and condensing would be academic suicide for me
