For real chiptune, 幻想郷レトロミュージカル is the best album I've come across. Three discs, PC-98, NES, Game Gear, GB, and a ton of variety.

I used to just call them NES or keygen music but I guess chiptune is more appealing to wider audiences.
It's very nostalgic, even if the song itself is brand new.
