That's the sad part, I used to play some games when /jp/dots was newly formed and it was a blast as everyone was new, nice and friendly. But now it feels like it's too serious and the comfy feeling is gone.

That said, I don't see how telling you how to play equates to being unfriendly. I mean, I get it if someone's going like "you're a fucking moron for not doing X, Y and Z", but otherwise, why should you consider them mutually exlusive? If anything, being friendly in this sort of game should cover giving each other advice on how to play so you can get more enjoyment out of doing reasonably well instead of being shitstomped. I try to give advice like that and not be dickish about it.

Likewise, on being "too serious", I understand what you're trying to get at and agree that yeah, you're in the wrong place if you're not playing a silly 2hu mod with no competitive system at all to have fun, but I don't think it's call to act like the game doesn't matter at all because I don't enjoy getting stomped because nobody cares about winning. I might just be strawmanning here, but I hope you get what I'm saying. Playing for fun and playing to win are not mutually exclusive.

As for banning Touhous, it's because the game is stupidly unbalanced and some things are just not fun to play against, like Aya "Oh you picked me off and would have a kill if I were any other hero but since you can't 100-0 me in the span of a single CC let me just press R and get away scott free" Shameimaru. And again, we're playing to have fun, so how is trying to remove, or at least mitigate, the unfun stuff a bad thing?

Also, regards >>15348223 , I don't understand people's problem with him. He's great fun most of the time, in my experience, and generally only gets upset with you if you're doing something really stupid or it's just a shitty match. But I guess mute him if he gets too worked up for you, whatever.

Close games are fun, no matter the outcome.
Stomps are shitty for the receiving end, and may be shitty for the winning team if they crave a fun game.
Casual vs tryhard is 100% attitude. Not skill based.

We have been playing since february, with a hiatus 2 - 3 months ago. It is only normal that people who keep doing something get better at it in time. The base skill level of /jp/dots has risen and this may be seen as tryharding by some people who crave for a plain, blind, dumb fun game like the ones we played back in february when we had no idea what anything did or was.

By virtue of getting better through repetitive play, people now make suggestions on items and try to coordinate their teams to certain extent, which should be normal and expected in a dota-like team game.
However, this is far from taking the game seriously and tryharding, this is merely the way this kind of games are meant to be played. Tryharding would involve counter picking, picking actual team comps and insta-locking Reisen/Aya/Cirno every game but what really happens is randoming heroes most of the time which is what many /jp/sies do, me included, or simply picking cutehus. We don't see Reisen/Aya/Cirno every game.

As it stands, the way I see it is that you can make the game fun/unfun for yourself depending on how you view it. We can't just go back to being awful at the game and knowing nothing about it, people who have issues with suggestions and the likes need to realize that the skill level is higher than before while at the same time staying just as casual as these games have ever been.

Of course non of the above is excuse to bully anyone! Always be nice to others and try to keep your cool if you aren't in the best mood, /jp/!

Does 9-ball disjoin? Disjointing is very inconsistent compared to regular dota. I know Sakuya's blink doesn't disjoint Yuuka's flowers' attack and thus it may not disjoint regular attacks. But you can use Flan's illusions to disjoint things just like naga can.

Actually the only projectiles i can think of that should be disjointable is the dagon item, maybe reimus random balls and obviously most ranged attacks.
Testing what blinks can disjoint projectiles should be easy, just try it out on a tower.
And yeah flan got the invulnerable frame when splitting, always fun dodging tenshi stuns and such with it.

Her mobility spells are very low cooldown and she gets max MS from her ult, on top of that she deals a lot of damage with her spells alone so she can solo kill very easily while being a hard carry and building only survivability items for the first half of the game.

It pretty much takes 3 to 4 heroes to go on her to be able to 100 to 0 her with in a couple seconds of CC, otherwise she can just fly away, ult or walk away at 522ms. Gets too much done as a hard carry during the mid game unless the enemy 5 mans down a lane and demands most of your team's attention to deal with. It's far too stronk, especially when you may or may not have proper heroes to deal with her since many people just random.

Some things are off in general as far as descriptions and whatnot go. Murasa obviously lacks a lot of info on her skills, but the torrent is supposed to actually deal damage from what you see in the description. It doesn't though. (or rather, like 10% of what's said.. )

Dots2 is bugged. Needs quite a bit of work. I especially hope they get the hitboxes of lane-creeps right. Those are just terrible right now.

DotS with /jp/ is a fun and casual event not meant to be taken seriously. There is absolutley no reason to try to make such a buggy unbalanced mess into a shitty e-sport. Please be cute and do not yell at teammates or try to enforce builds or a meta of any kind.
Meme builds and winning by unconventional means are the most rewarding way to play this game.

I've never played a public game of dots 1 but I went back to see for myself how different they are

Dots 2 is still in alpha so
-has less heros
-no weather effects
-ordinary courier instead of yukkuri
-abilities do not scale based on int
-regular dota jungle camps
-you cannot activate music for your character
-does not have custom music in the background
-map isn't finished yet
-no switch that brings down a bridge
-Probably some other shit I forgot
At least the shop is much more simple

She has a super easy laning phase thanks to the fact that she has incredible range, good base MS, and an excellent attack animation. Because of this, it's hard to zone her, and once she gets 6 she also has a pretty easy time escaping because, in addition to being able to last hit from quite far away from the wave (and hence being closer to her tower), she has invisibility, which thanks to lmaonodust means that you have to close the distance, sentry on top of her, and successfully kill her while not getting raped by illusions. It's a lot of hoops to jump through to kill an enemy hard carry, is all

It's stupid to make bans a thing, but it's true that Reisen is super good

Countering her is done either through team comp or all 5 players being somewhat self sufficient. If you can't go 5 and push down her towers for whatever reason (enemy has Yuyuko), then you have to make sure *nobody* on the team falls behind Aya, without ganking her. This means that you need strong supports who can stand and fight on their own like Reimu or Yuka or something. Basically, as soon as Aya gets ahead of anyone on your team, she can just repeatedly pick them off while evading counterganks, which makes her frustrating to play against. If you can't 5 man, make sure your supports are farming decently. Usually you can accomplish one or the other depending on team comp

I don't find her bad to play against, honestly. She's more easy to gank than Reisen and can be countered by playing around creeps and farming Mystia's Flute, and outside of ulti she can be killed pretty easily. She's good but not crazy good

I'll have to double check when I get home, but I know she's faster than Utsuho when both have boots by around 15~ms. Either way, I'm fairly sure Reisen is not slow, and she has enough range to make ganks difficult regardless

She's not complete bullshit, but she's definitely one of the harder carries to gank for how heavily she scales. It's an interesting problem; to shut down a Reisen, you need AOE, you need gank potential, and you need a plan for if the game goes late

Bunny problems are quite the conundrum!

Anyway, I did some short little lobby test for the ghost ult, and it indeed seems bugged. As far as I understand it, heroes/girls are supposed to take a percentage of their missing health as damage. (up to 70%) In other words if you'd have 50% HP, you'd sit at 15% afterwards. If you are at 80%, you'd sit at 66%. However it seems like girls are handled as creeps, perhaps even on top of it(?). Basically they ALSO emit waves like normally creeps are supposed to do, once they are hit. And you actually damage from 100% in some way. I feel like the hero-check is bugged or something weird. Regardless, you take tons of damage if you stand close to friendly girls. Or something to that extend.
Of course there are other broken things in Dots2, but this seems to really be just a bug or something.

An ultimate must be really good if the only way to deal with it is either not participating in a battle till it's down, or buy a super expensive item just for it that in a lot of cases is not something you even wanna buy on your girl.

Right now I'd consider this ult to be worse than even Aya or Rabbit. Thing is: You don't need farm. You don't need anything. You can even get bursted in the fight. You can get stunned during channeling. Nothing matters. You'll get it off. With a way too devastating effect. I don't think this is for a long time yet either. Just a couple of days or something? If so it should get fixed. Not like this is something you could overlook...

For reference.2 second animation + 2 second channel. Interumping the channel makes it so she can't insta gib your team, while canceling the animation doesn't do much since it doesn't put the spell in cooldown.

The cast time is there, but it's not that long. 2secs? Problem is, that interrupting doesn't put it on CD. Range number I don't know, but it's decent. Also pretty sure it becomes pretty huge given that everything it hits "bounces" it further.. in a way. Don't know if there's a limit or something, but eh. One of the bigger AoEs for sure though.

Her ult goes on cooldown if you interupt her channeling. Her ult does a little damage for each butterfly she sends out and as their hp gets lower and lower in does more and more damage until they die. Ah I love this ghost ulti. Did another test right now. If you have a full health girl standing right next to her, her ultimate does 0 damage to you, provided there are no creeps close. If I let her attack the target girl just once (like not even 50 damage), it kills. Great! There's at least a resemblance of what it was supposed to do left in the skill!

There's very little excuse to not get decent farm in this game; there's tons of ways to accelerate farm. A cheaper version of midas, precious thing for passive gold bonus, and tax orb for carries makes it super easy to get gold as long as you know how to farm and don't use too much of your time running around for no results

I should probably try rushing tax orb on Yuugi but I can't help but notice that she needs to try to be a thing midgame and thus needs some cheap useful items like Pad, Banana, and upgraded boots so she can try to help her team dominate early team fights, and she starts to fall off too hard after the enemy carry finishes a a camera to really benefit from orienting her build to the late game

You learn by failing. It's honestly not advised to try and comprehend everything. Take a look around. Find a few girls you like. Play a few games. Afterwards you'll have an idea of how things go. The game is bugged and a mess anyway, so yeah. No description in the world tells you that the ghost ultimate simply kills, no matter what, provided you aren't at 100% HP, because it's broken/bugged/whatever. (basically it's SUPPOSED to deal damage based on your missing HP.. which it does. But instead of hitting once, it hits you MANY MANY MANY times over, there's basically no "only damage once" check in place which all AoE abilities have that aren't supposed to be dots. As such you die)

As for Yuugi's ultimate, it's VERY obvious once she ults, you find that out once you play. She may still luck out and kick you away (=kill you) though.

We've been playing almost every day for what now? Two months? It is entirely possible people are getting tired of dots. I have personally been feeling more compelled to play other things than dots this last week.
