Last night /jp/ attendance was rather low, took a while to fill a lobby and had to go public to get the last 2 slots filled. I can only assume overwatch launching yesterday was not a coincidence.

last night as well as tonight there were not as many people in the /jp/ channel as there usually are before I even make a lobby. So yeah, this week may be slow while people get their dose of paid plus micro transactions TF2.

On a semi-related note, I've tried using those touhou fortress models but they make my game crash as soon as I join a server but work when I host a server myself. Any idea on how to fix that?

Interest seems to be lower after overwatch's release.

If the rest of the week and the weekend result in failed attempts to get a game going then I'll stop hosting for some time before testing the waters again. It is also posible people are growing a bit tired of DotS and a future patch will make the game interesting again.

v0.990a Test Fix2 Eng v1 is the latest classic version I have on my computer.

Make a custom lobby with bots and read some descriptions

go to Arcade -> Lobby List -> Create Custom Lobby, select DotS, put a whatever password and Enable Cheats.

When the game loads, choose a girl and walk around the map, take a look at the items and see what your skills do. You can use some commands to make things faster. Just open Chat (enter) and type:

-gold 444444
to give you 444444 gold

-lvlup 15
to gain 15 levels

-createhero tide enemy
this will create a enemy hero lvl 1 near your position, you can control her and cast her spells. tide will create suika, furion kaguya, puck ran, etc. as you play, you'll see which girls are attached to which dota 2 heroes.

-levelbots 10
give enemy heroes 10 levels

Using this commands you can see what skills do and stuff (some only work against heroes like Shiki, so these commands are useful).

You can check the wiki too. It is not up to date and is missing some stuff, but most stuff is there.

Maybe we can noob together at some point. I'm in EU too, and only gave a short look at the map (and Suika). Though I do play Dota2, so I have.. some background knowledge. It won't help much though. Suika has Tiny's toss in nerfed form, and I know the neutrals, but.. that's about all that's similar. Even the rng seems "true random" instead of the dota2 typical pseudo random for chance based abilities. There's such a huge difference there it's kinda funny how easily recognizable that part is.

I honestly understand very little you're talking about, but pseudorandom vs. random was mentioned in the wiki. What does that exactly mean? Unless the game uses the system's entropy "generator", everything is pseudo-random, and even if it does, it's up to debate...

In dota slang, pseudo-random simply means it eliminates huge streaks. Basically the first time a chance is tested it's way lower than your given % of the skill.
In case of a 30% chance it'd be a bit lower than 12%. If that fails, the next time it's ~24%. If that fails ~36%. Until you get a successful roll. Then it's back to ~12%. There's also a "grace period" after which it resets, so you can't abuse this and "prepare" a high chance trigger.

What this results into is that it's REALLY unlikely to get no trigger for a long time, as well as a lot of triggers right after each other. Like getting 3 30% triggers back to back is normally 2.7%, but with "pseudo" it'd be ~0.17%. On average you still have 30% triggers though. Roughly, this kinda changes with high percentages.
You can probably guess why this is done. RNG should only have so much influence on the game and this is a good way to somewhat control it.

So far we have only had USE/USW hosts and the regular time has been around 9PM GMT-5.

You guys should host privite EU /jp/ lobbies and see how it goes for you Euros.

Set the password to the usual "/jp/dots" link the lobby to the /jp/dots chat channel and most importantly make a steamgroup announcement. You should specify it us a EU lobby in the announcement for people to know since we rarely get EU lobbies.

My first and only experience at 2hu dots was playing 3v3 with a group of friends where I just random picked snek and proceeded into shouting "WHAT DOES MY ULT DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" while blink teleporting in attempt to hit someone with it since the descriptions for all of her skills were blank for all of us

The higher ping was at times a bit annoying as it sometimes spiked a bit. But I've played worse. There were times when EU west had actually worse ping for me than US East now. Something of the routing was broken and only russia worked fine.

For me it's okay, outside of spikes. It's like 100 "ingame ping". EU servers give like 30. So the "real" delay is probably like 130ms ish. You do quite feel that. There's way worse though, provided it doesn't spike.

Okay, this is like Dota .53 or something. Physical > all, late-game is the name of the game. If your skills don't scale, you become absolutely worthless. The more I play Dots, the more this becomes obvious.

Are they actually attempting to balance this a bit in the future? Shouldn't even be so hard. As a Dota player, the first thing I immediately see is that if an active is taken from Dota, it's nerfed. Why? Especially seeing how so many passive effects are way better than anything that Dota offers.

I don't think a blink is necessary. But some mobility abilities in this are pretty fucking OP, which makes me feel like if those are nerfed (hard), we are golden. Like generally speaking movement-speed in this isn't quite as easily gotten as in Dota. (no phase, travels give way less MS and so on) And yet there are passives of some girls that give them essentially haste, which is way stronger than the Dota equivalent as everyone is slower and no mobility items exist.
The storm ult in this is pretty much "fine", as it's heavily nerfed compared to dota, but the joke is that some of the OP mobility abilities are flatout better. Perhaps on a cooldown, but you don't need and spend thousands of mana in exchange.

Yeah, mobility is also a bit questionable in this for sure. I don't personally mind a bit more restriction, but that makes it even more important to make absolutely sure that those few abilities that exist have enough drawbacks and aren't too strong. I mean even as far as disables goes this game seems to have way less than Dota, making mobility even stronger. I don't even wanna know what an Ember or Storm (with Dota items) could do in Dots.. well I suppose pretty much the same as the girls with OP movement stuff?

You can't really compare numbers like that in dota though, reimu would have to be level 8 for that combo and she's usually not getting farm.
