Any computer scientist worth his salt has a decent grasp on all forms of mathematics. Also, the words I used were symbolic of what we inspire to become. As of right now there are no true programmers, composers, or artist on 4chan. Just undergrads in training.

Well, there are some but they can hardly be considered members of their respective boards. Find anybody with talent on 4chan and I can guarantee you that 4chan isn't their primary hangout. For instance, the composer that created the '/jp/ theme song' doesn't even go to /jp/ any more.

Clean cuts with little extravagance to serve as a counterpart to both the modern trends and touhou's silly hats.
Arrangements based on classical music with a faster tempo.
World design based not on pre-industrial times, but an alternative year 2009. Retro-futurist with females taking protagonist roles due to the lack of men after a series of wars. Or maybe with a throwback to the old 50's style of female fashion, but with girls rising up to new social challenges.

I need first a better sense of the setting. How are bullets everywhere (that is, if we're still going with a bullet hell game concept) explained?
I was thinking of something not technological related, or big conflicts. Just a ritualized manner to settle differences among females of the higher classes. Like duels in the turn of the century, except that this time it has connotations of righteousness and femininity.

A large field is chosen, and as the morning fog dissipates, two warring houses meet at the center. In a ceremonious manner, they strap small leather contraptions to their wrists and ankles. It glows, showing that it is ready. Then they float around, and give a light show, trying to put down the other, not just with the elegance of their own patterns, but through roughhousing and some harm.
At the end, defeat is admitted, and all is forgiven. The hills cheer, showing for the first time a rather large number of onlookers.

For the main conflict plot, we have a small sisterhood of unrelated dames that have decided they deserve the right to go to space if they so damn please. So they confront a succession of houses (or just one large house) until they face the matron. If they win, the rest will admit that they have a place in space and no further discussion.

This is getting silly...

The reason why these group projects always fail is because /jp/ers don't know how to work together. We keep underestimating the importance of the director and producer's job. Imagine if we had a leader that could tell AoRF to get started on the engine, Eksopl to get started on the menu interface, Jones to start working on our devblog, AoC to stop slacking off with the script, and ZUN!bar what theme we needed for the intro. Said director would have to be a jack-of-all-trades (i.e., have enough communication skills and talent to work alongside the artists, composers, and writers). Without direction, we always end up hypothesizing.

Of course this is falling on deaf ears because there never was going to be a project in the first place.

I'll never trust the bastard again after he left me hanging with the arrangement he promised.

If you want a case study on why a good director is important, look at the remains of the Virus project. Good character design, enough initial momentum, but it just stalled after a while.

Like I said before, it's on our nature to get creative but not going through with it completely. And it's that way for most people, because it's easier to have a neat idea and care for it for a while than actually getting down and start working for it. The initial stage is fun, but the rest is a slow process that pushes people away.

Anyway, make some changes to that team, add a load of artists, and you can get something interesting going.

KS doesn't count as /jp/ nor does it count as /a/. Long story short a few people from /a/ banded together to create something. As the project aged more and more people left. And for every /a/non that left the project they were replaced by some random loser from [insert generic weeaboo forum]. At this point there's only one or two people from the original dev team.

And to add insult to injury they are proud of the fact that they have nothing to do with the original dev team. I almost got laughed off of their IRC channel one time when I asked one of them if they were from 'old /a/'.

Ask anybody that has a job and they'll tell you they need more time. But what do they do the second they get more time? They pass it by watching TV, socializing with friends, or any other form of entertainment. But they have no choice but to kill it because too much time equals boredom. >>1526120,35
>If you want a case study on why a good director is important, look at the remains of the Virus project.
Yes, a sad story. It seems they were doing well during the initial stages, but once distractions seeped in people got too complacent about putting things off ("Yeah, let's make an IRC channel so we can discuss things eventually").

This leads me to believe the only "/jp/ projects" that will actually succeed have as few people as possible--if it's a VN, just a writer and artist should be enough (like Type-Moon's beginnings). Of course, both people have to be good at actually getting stuff done.

Touhou is the type of franchise that demands contribution from its base. You'd think there would be a lot more contributors on a place like /jp/ where more than half its userbase consist of Touhou fans.

I blame crappy fanfiction. Have you seen what the rest of the western fanbase does? It's embarrassing. I can see the reason why anonymous don't want to be part of such a thing.

Even more reason to try and do good works that don't rely on tired fanon memes. That expands on the setting and actually tells a story.

Eastern fanfiction isn't much better. You are just distracted by the fact that they have pictures to go with the horrible stories and cringeworthy pairings.
