Does vocaloid work under WINE? If not, can it run reasonably under a virtual machine or does it have high performance requirements.

Most of my electronic music stuff I do on a linux system since I'm using audacious, chibitracker, AHX, and a bunch of programs I wrote myself, and controlling Timidity via a real MIDI keyboard. So, it would be really handy to have Miku on the same box.

>> No.1511419

I got Miku then realized that I can't even read fucking musical notes.

They're not that hard to learn.

>> No.1511431

>>1511419
Understanding musical notation is not very hard at all. You can probably teach yourself in a day.

When people talk about the difficulty of reading musical notation, they're really talking about the difficulty of sight-reading and translating that into controlling their instrument of choice. For example, I can't translate notes on the score to fingering on my violin in my head quite fast enough, so although with a lot of practice I can play a piece beautifully, I can't sightread for shit.

How can you not read music? It's like the easiest thing to read. THERE ARE ONLY 7 NOTES.

(Not counting sharps and flats)

It's not in the appdb, so no idea. Try it out and then tell us.

As for the VM, that will depend on your rig, the OS on the VM, and what else your PC is doing.

There's nothing difficult about clefs or octaves. Most music nowadays uses treble and bass clefs so you don't have to worry about the others. And octaves are stupidly simple. At least when it comes to piano sheet music. You start at Middle C and work your way up. When you reach C again then you just went up an octave. And vice versa.

Actually, H in German nomenclature just means B natural. B is used for B flat.

Which is neat, because B flat A C B natural spells Bach! Which is a common motivic element in a number of pieces of music, used by both Bach himself, and by other composers as an homage of sorts.

Wow, that was actually pretty interesting. Thanks for that, Anon.
