There's a certain degree of attractiveness in imperfections, and the confident personality of those who embrace such imperfections.

I always thought it was because it looks more juvenile. Kids who have just grown in their adult teeth have snaggleteeth that poke over their faces when they smile, but at some point their heads grow large enough to fit their teeth, or they get disgusting braces and then the standardized adult teeth.

TOKYO — A 23-year-old man was taken into custody Monday on suspicion of abducting a teenage girl who was found Sunday, two years after going missing, police said.

Kabu Terauchi was detained in Ito, Shizuoka Prefecture, at around 3:20 a.m. The police found Terauchi in a village near Futo Station after receiving an emergency call saying a man covered in blood had been seen walking in the area, they said. He was taken to hospital and is expected to be formally arrested after he recovers.

Terauchi said he had attempted suicide by slashing his throat with a cutter, an investigative source said. He is expected to leave the hospital in a few days.

The 15-year-old girl, Ana Saito, who was placed in protective custody Sunday, told the police that she had been held by a stranger who abducted her from Saitama Prefecture in a car in March 2014.

Terauchi is suspected of tricking the girl into coming with him by falsely telling her that her parents were getting divorced and that he would take her to a lawyer’s office, according to the source.

She said she was initially taken to the city of Chiba, where the police believe she was held for a long time before being moved to an apartment near JR Higashinakano Station in Tokyo’s Nakano Ward last month.

Saito said there were times when the man took her outside, but the police suspect she could not flee on those rare occasions as he kept a close watch on her, they said.

She also told investigators she was unable to run away as Terauchi kept her locked up and that he always kept a close watch on her, according to the police.

She managed to escape when she found the door unlocked Sunday and made an emergency call to the police from a public phone at the railway station shortly after noon, the police said.

Terauchi had gone out at the time, saying he was heading to Akihabara to purchase a mobile phone, the girl was quoted as saying.

The junior high school student had last been seen speaking with a young man in front of her home in Asaka, Saitama Prefecture near Tokyo, on March 10, 2014. On the same day, a note was found in a letterbox at her home in what appeared to be her handwriting, saying, “Don’t look for me.” She said that Terauchi made her write the note.

The police then began looking into her disappearance, soliciting information from the public.

When she was taken into protective custody, the girl had her student ID with her, according to the police.
