Just throwing out a guess for future upgrades.

Max poi gun can be upgraded to Shimakaze gun. Consumes 2 Urakaze guns.
Upgrading Shimakaze gun consumes 1 poi gun + 1 Urakaze gun up to +6. Consumes itself from +6 to max.

Akizuki gun will be upgradable to a better gun, but it needs a DD air radar. Not sure if T13 or T13 Kai; probably Kai. This gun will be weaker than Shimakaze gun, but any ship equipping it will be able to do AACI.
Consumes normal 10cm HA guns (and maybe T13 radars) up to +6. From +6 to max is unknown.

Max quint torp can be upgraded to a quint torp kai. Consumes 2-3 quint torps.
Upgrading quint torp kai consumes 2 quint torps up to +6. Consumes itself from +6 to max.

The +6/+10 turbines/boilers consume themselves from +6 to max.
Amatsukaze boilers consume +10 turbines all the way to max. Needs something else to upgrade to Shimakaze boiler.
Shimakaze boilers consume Amatsukaze boilers up to +6. From +6 to max is unknown.

Zuiun consumes itself when upgrading from +6 to max, as well as for upgrading to Zuiun M12. Up to +6 is unknown.
Zuiun M12 consumes zuiun all the way to max. May or may not be upgradable to Zuiun M12 634 by consuming 2x Zuiun 634.
Zuiun 634 consumes zuiun all the way to max. Requires one Zuiun M12 to upgrade to Zuiun M12 634.
Zuiun M12 634 consumes zuiun up to +6, and Zuiun M12 up to max.

Vanilla T97/Tenzan/Ryuusei consume themselves from +6 to max, as well as when upgrading to the next level.
Ditto for vanilla T99/Suisei, and for vanilla T96/T0 M21/T0 M52/Reppuu.
Those with special squadrons or pilots consume their vanilla versions when upgrading from +0 to max, and the level above when upgrading to that level.

2/4/5 or 2/5/6 (depending on whether you need buckets or bauxite) will leave you ammo heavy. Ammo does tend to deplete more quickly than fuel running most fleets, but you will usually have more of it than fuel to begin with.

Here are my yesterday's findings concerning 6-4:

Screenshot #3 proves that Sanshiki DO work vs Ritou Hime even on CAs. My Tone has two 20.3 (3) at +6 meaning she has 101.89 power which translates to 2x 122.268 with DA and 183 with critical hit (if we didn't apply Sanshiki bonus). Ritou Hime has 190 armor which can roll at minimum 190 * 0.7 = 133, so the 62 hit most definitely had some bonus applied to it (133+62=195 which is higher than 183). Another proof is screenshot #13 - 4 damage is far too low for scratch, it had to be a penetration. With normal Sanshiki bonus that chuuha'd Tone achieves 2x 213 damage - seems like I got bad armor roll. Second hit (sc #14) is either another bad armor roll or terrible armor roll resulting in scratch.
Problem arises when we look at other hits of Tone.
Screenshots #4, 7, 8, 9, 10 look like scratch damage. It should be impossible. Healthy Tone should go over yasen cap:
101.89 * 1.2 (DA) * 2.5 (Sanshiki) = 305.67 = 302 after cap with each of two hits.
Ritou's armor is 190 so it can only roll up to 190 * 1.3 = 247.
That means (assuming no ammo penalty*) Tone should be doing at minimum 55 damage with each of the hits.
Tone is lv99 and she uses upgraded 20.3 (3) guns so I find it incredibly unlikely that all those scratches were results of "misses". However there are only two confirmed penetrations. What if damage modifier is lower they are simply crits? That sounds far more likely.
Roma's hits look like everything is working as expected with standard 2.5x modifier.

All things considered, I think it's safe to assume that CA have lower Sanshiki bonus vs Ritou Hime.

Another thing I found out is that Sanshiki do work vs Artillery Imps.

Tone's maximum damage without Sanshiki bonus vs land enemies is 2x 183 as stated above. Artillery Imps have 100-110 armor. Damage shown in the screenshots is impossible without the Sanshiki bonus.

For shelling Tomonaga vs Ryuusei kai damage difference is only minor, so it's a good trade trading ~3FP for 3ACC 1fighter power and better contact. For aerial phase you're looking at like 10~25 damage difference on hard hits. On Kaga's big slot you hit damage cap for aerial phase for ryuusei kai anyway so you'll want to use tomonaga instead

I managed to save Prinz. After many failures I spent whole night grinding Kitakami to Kai Ni on first node of 1-5, it was worth it. I also had to train fresh Haguro because I used main one in E1 (in the end new Haguro ended up with higher level from E3 alone so she ate the older version). BB Hime was left with 30 HP when Isuzu hit her for 33 + miss. Damn, I completely forgot she was the one who got the kill, I'll have to train her more.

That depends on how many WG you have. Composition is of second value.
If you have 3, 1 in 12 fights might end with kill.
If you have 4, 1 in 6 fights.
If you have 5, 1 in 3 fights.

Composition mostly affects how often you reach the boss but you can get wrecked by Rus no matter what you use.

So I've been experimenting with that 3-5 composition someone posted earlier - the one that goes AO, 2CL, 3AV.

It's okay. If you trigger contact you can get perfect S on most nodes. If you don't, you might get wrecked by a heavy cruiser. Taking it all into consideration I'd still rather run with Hayasui, Mizuho, 2CL and 2 good DDs. Hayasui is guaranteed to be the heaviest hitter in either composition, and you want one AV to ensure AS+. Past that you're trading surface power for opening attacks.

Chitose and Chiyoda aren't a bad substitute for DDs, but their opening attacks aren't hugely consistent. A lot of the time all the opening torps will converge on the same target, or the Zuiun will fail to deliver. Using Poi and Ayanami is more consistent in surface battle. I never had to go to yasen on the boss with either composition.

It's not a bad composition. I'd like to try it again sometime with more recon planes so I have a higher chance of doing something with the opening airphase. I was using Abukuma as one of my CLs, maybe next time I'd use Ooyodo with two guns and two scouts, and Jintsuu with DA setup to raise the chances of it.

Because after failing Winter 2015 E5 Hard I swore to myself to become better player and since then was able to clear every single map in a time I dedicated to it, including 5-3 in one evening or Summer E7 in 24 hours or 5-5 with silly comps in less than 20 runs or whatever.
With 6-4 I knew things won't go so smoothly and expected maybe one kill per 5-10 sorties but I have already spent 140 buckets thanks to Abyssals scoring three crits in row (yes, actual crits disabling my girls one by one), Ru ignoring my sparkles, Ru never targeting BB but only DDs, my girls never scoring crits (except in yasen vs Imps, only in yasen), my girls focusing on bosses in day while Imps destroy them, terrible engagements. The only thing I'm missing is taiha on B node though I already got two chuuha there. All that and I have only one kill to show.

And then I see all those fuckers killing Imps in day battle and going into yasen with five healthy girls and I feel more pathetic than ever.

Generally I find it's the opposite way around, at least on my server (Truk). They know how it works so they leave 1 (or 2) high levelled things for people to kill. Good potential, could have done better if I had a better engagement. My useless hotel couldn't even oneshot the pillboxes even with 2x51cm during daytime. With a sub, you get to tank 4shot away from the 2bosses which I think is better than running Ooyodo.
