I just bought this book and think this is related to the board:

Carroll's principal hobby -- the hobby that aroused his greatest joys -- was entertaining little girls. "I am fond of children (except boys)," he once wrote. [...] He thought the naked bodies of little girls (unlike the bodies of boys) extremely beautiful. Upon occasion he sketched or photographed them in the nude, with the mother's permission, of course. [...] Lest these undraped pictures later embarrass the girls, he requested that after his death they be destroyed or returned to the children or their parents. None seems to have survived.

Yours looks weird. I collect a lot of Alice stuff.

Carroll's works are very popular in Japan. Wordplay and puns are a common type of humor in Japanese, so when translated well his humor is something Japanese people like. Out of only four countries that have a Lewis Carroll Society, Japan is the only one that doesn't speak English (England, America, and New Zealand are the others). The most interesting part is that the people in Japan who love to use the name most are those involved in the visual subculture (lol, fancy words for otaku/anime nerds), as opposed to the drug subculture of the US. In fact, there are many more popular and subculture references to his stuff in Japan than in English-speaking locations, but far less literary references.

I gave a final presentation on Carroll/Alice in Japan in one of my classes in my last semester of university. I was thinking of trying to write a formal article about it to submit to journals, but I never went through with it.

Oh, and if AoRF is actually from Russia and still awake, did you know the first translation of Alice's Adventures of Wonderland into Russian was done by Nabokov?

There's a somewhat interesting article at http://www.hp-alice.com/lcj/subculture.html about the history of otaku adopting Alice as sort of a lolicon mascot, but it goes a little far in trying to say that Dodgson wasn't a pedo. The history stuff itself is interesting though.

I know a girl who's completely obsessed with 2 things: Alice in Wonderland and transsexuals.

Meant to say "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" but the "into" after it was triggering some sort of brain problem, apparently.

But Alice is the mascot of the Alice complex or alicecon. Alicecon is 8-12 while lolicon is 13-16.

...we fuck and we're still just children and we're both insane and depressed and hate our parents and just want to die together. that's how it works, okay.

Lol what a waste of space the OP truly is. Perhaps he is looking for some sort of acceptance for his filth?

Because Caroll really did not have any connection to paedophilia. You know, one can find almost any suggestions in Victorian time documents, if you interpret them on modern day standards. Which no intelligent person would do because, you know, if you take things out of their original context they tend to lose their original meaning.

Karoline Leach, is that you? Most Carroll scholars agree that he was basically in love with Alice Liddell, and that he was overly interested in little girls. He didn't have sex with them or anything, and he was very religious, but to deny that he had a fixation on young girls is just ridiculous.
