That's all gravy and everything, but you're more likely to get hate here since a lot of people here see /jp/ for what it was originally created for, touhou, vns, figs and stuff. Not what it may be able encompass now, like general Japan and travel threads.

You'd get a more positive response in /trv/

/jp/ was split from /a/ to cater for the touhou/vn/fig etc. fans who were filling up /a/. Moot didn't want to appear to cater directly to those people*, so made /jp/ as an ambiguous net to catch anything related to Japan, which includes touhou/vns/figs amongst other things.

*You know how you wouldn't want to spoil a child by buying them a really big expensive toy, so you buy them lots of little ones instead, so you can feel better about getting them something, but avoid caving in and getting them exactly what they wanted.

People have a tendency to misread the stickies that were originally made on /a/ and here too.

I'm fine with general stuff, but don't expect warm fuzzy receptions from everyone here. The rule about anything Japan related being welcome isn't really accepted by hardliners.

So just get on with your thread, and ignore the hate, or post it in /trv/ where you'll probably get a better reception.

In some ways it's better than other boards, but in some ways it's much worse. We actually have helpful people here who answer questions and help translate things, which is better than a lot of boards. On the other hand, we also have a large number of content nazis who think that what they like about Japan is the only thing that should be on the board at all.
