Because Sharin no Kuni was boring. Dull slice-of-life - unfortunately, LooseBoy's never been good at slice-of-life (unlike, say, the Triangle Heart writer). G-Senjou no Maou improved on it mainly by reducing the amount of slice-of-life.
Next, I thought G-Senjou no Maou's last chapter was slightly more epic, even though Sharin's twist was better.
Finally, G-Senjou no Maou had Haru. Haru's basically the best parts of Natsumi and Ririko combined, and superior to pretty much every other eroge heroine.

That said, they're all like 98%/99%-tier VNs, so the difference between them is incredibly small.

if G-senjou had ended with the bug-eyed haru scene the shit plot twist would have been forgivable. But alas, the game ends very conclusively, and so we'll never get to follow Haru vs. Maou chase ever again...sniff.

I'm perfectly able to to look back at the other games I've played and remember how impacted I was by them. That why, without a shadow of a doubt, #1 ever remains Kimi ga Nozomu Eine. Best-of-breed game that excels in every single category -- there are games that beat it any one or two individual categories, but none that succeed well in every single one. Story, characters, art, soundtrack, script, plot, endings, routes, H, it's all there in abundance.

And although I wished G-senjou would last forver, it didn't have the sheer impact on me that Eine no Aselia did -- it had shitty art and I felt the ending kind of crappy, but wow did that game have a way or engaging your emotions; while Planetarian made you weep like a little girl, Aselia made you blow your chest out like a man as your heart burned with justice as you strived to protect the delicate lives of the girls around you. I remember the aching need to murder that piece of shit girl-abuser villain from the empire and it was so fucking sweet when he got his. That's the sort of emotional response an epic game can bring out.
