Is there anything in this series that is still watchable today?
Even the new stuff looks trashy.

The original is charming because it's so cheesy but obviously that effect is kinda lost on the follow ups.

If you haven't watched OG Ultra Seven you are doing yourself a great injustice. It even has a R1 DVD. But I'm personally a fan of the older stuff and has stayed away from the new stuff.

So Im with OP.

I haven't seen the original. But Ultraseven, the second Ultraman series, is highly regarded for its intelligent and mature writing.

I don't know what you're talking about. Ultraman X looks great.

I haven't seen it yet. But that is the popular opinion regarding the series.

Though it sounds like tokusatsu just isn't for you. So you might still find a problem with it.

Just watched the first episode of that.
Definitely more mature writing, despite the fact that I didn't get what the fuck was going on in the end.
