Does being ugly correlate to an interest in otaku culture?

Being ugly > being shit on when young > becoming socially retarded > spending a lot of time on the net > neet > picking up niche interests > picking up interest in otaku culture > more neet > withering away > death

i think having niche interests is becoming more mainstream

i mean touhou is fairly common on college campuses now i would think

if anything it is gaining in popularity

Touhou as a serie isn't that niche, it's actually being into it for real the niche thing. Even here on /jp/ there's just a little percentage of people who bother with the written works and the other things instead of just playing the game once and calling it a day.

No, there are people who are much bigger failures and worse looking than you average otaku/weeb and they don't even know what touhou/anime/VNs/other otaku culture are.

Remember /jp/: even if you hit rock bottom, somewhere there is always lower. Always.

Being isolated from your own culture does ease a transition to a foreign one, that's for sure. That doesn't mean every single weeaboo is a loner, anime discussions are popular[citatiion needed] even offline[citatiion needed] in america[citatiion needed].

Mainstream culture niche and actual niche are two very different things.
You can say video games are popular, which is true, but there's a difference between fratboys playing Madden and autists discussing Dwarf Fortress maps or what they'd do to Reimu's armpits.
(I'd use my tongue to gently tickle them personally)

I can foresee that being a real problem because I don't socialize with other people or have friends outside of a few on the internet, but because there are so many people for employers in any field to choose from, it's muh social skills that matters, which I don't have. Luckily I live in a country with a safety net, so I can live as a low tier NEET instead of having to be homeless if my dad ever fails to continue supporting me. I actually got a job recently though, but I wouldn't be able to live on my own with the funds I'll get from it.

When I was around 12yo, every girl in my class considered me the most handsome person in school. Not even kidding. I always ignored them because I didn't give a shit to girls, all I cared about was pokémon and games. I'm now 20yo, kissless virgin, and no girls care about me. I still don't give a shit.

Why? Hormonal changes? I have a waifu so I don't think those feelings would come. I stopped pursuing 3D relationships because I realized how averse I am to them, I don't even play any VNs because I dislike the whole social process you see in them.

To an great extend yes. But ultimately

Most NEETs detest 3D out of bitterness and sour grapes, don't become one of those people. Just realize that to really enjoy 3D, you're going to endure endless amounts of embarrassment and awkwardness at first, but it is infinitely more gratifying than 2D in every way imaginable.

>> No.14363078

2D is essentially your own projections and ideals, it's basically masturbation where you never leave your comfort zone or are challenged by anything.

3D means growing and maturing as you find out that a real relationship requires compassion and understanding. 3D also brings the feels on a whole notha level.

There's a reason why the rest of humanity loves 3D so much. They tried it and it was pretty sw33t Tbh. Most NEETs never try 3D and miss out on so much they don't understand.

It depends on the personality and the ability to take it easy.

>relationship requires compassion and understanding

That really goes without saying.

>3D also brings the feels on a whole notha level.
Wait.

Are we talking about relationships in general or an intimate / romantic relationship?

I honestly cannot stand "relationships" with your common jack and jill "friends" and even "family". Not because of the "embarassment / awkwardness" but ultimately its superficial as fuck, it never goes anywhere beyond pleasantries and small talk and they are in general obnoxious.

To be perfectly honest, I think I'm an misanthropists but there is doubt whether I'm in denial of some other source causing this.

>> No.14363128

This isnt /r9k/, lots of people here have had gfs...
Some people like idols which are 3D, some people are married too, or all those people that have gone to soaphouses and told us their stories over the years.

3D feels pretty good but its a huge hassle.
2D is great, I like both. I think I like 2D better, way cuter and it always makes me happy and never anxious like 3D does.

you go in pretty deep when you're in an actual relationship with someone.

This means i go backwards?
I went from normalfag to /jp/oster.
I stop finding 3D interesting ofcourse everybody enjoys kisses hugs and sex but enjoying the company is a different thing, my latest relationships were really boring, i think it was just for the needing of not being alone which also applies to 2D

>> No.14363812

The only way to test if someone likes 2D or 3D more is if they have an opportunity to experience both without compromise. Socially stunted rejects like to say that they've already tried 3D enough to justify hating it but they really haven't. They were robbed of the chance, instead getting bullying and isolation. As far as I can tell, it most definitely is sour grapes in a lot of these situations, but at no fault of their own. The people who are free to try both didn't exactly get there on their own volition despite liking to pretend they did.

>> No.14363891

>>14363042
sure do love blanket statements

I tried 3D and it wasn't for me (please don't kick me out of /jp/). And it's not like I decided to give up and go for 2D. I just found one character that I came to care about more than anyone or anything else. It's not the same of course because there isn't the communication which is found in 3D but I don't really care. Communication even between real people isn't perfect and I don't think we should forget that. I'm fine with my unrequited love for a 2D character, 3D is different but it's not better. Each has their own unique issues because they're fucking different. It's a matter of taste but I do admit that some of the 2D supporters tend to be bitter.
Basically I'm not strictly 2D but it just happened to be a 2D person that really captured me so whatever nerd.
